To refer to earlier comments regarding Sheridan and her eligibility, I can't remember if the rule applies to just the productions or the performances too, but I remember reading somewhere with the eligibility rules that there has to be at least 30 performances either under their belts or planned in order to be in the running. Now I don't know if that includes performers but if it does, I believe Sheridan will of made it just over the 30 performances mark on her first stint at the Savoy, meaning if she didn't return to the show she would be eligible. But as I said, it may not include performers in the 30 performance rule.
EDIT: Eligibility ruling are as follows (at least for the the 2015/2016 season)...
"Any new production that opened between 26 February 2015 and 16 February 2016 in a theatre represented in membership of Society of London Theatre is eligible for consideration for the Olivier Awards 2016 with MasterCard, provided it has at least 30 performances"

It's quite interesting that Natasha has been labelled an "understudy" despite her two months run, that clearly makes her a replacement. If she were a replacement she could be nominated for the Olivier - she'd totally deserve it!

If she were a replacement she could be nominated for the Olivier - she'd totally deserve it! The trouble being, are those selecting the Olivier nominees gonna go to the show to see both Sheridan and Natasha? She could very well be nominated, but will they go to see them both? It is possible but highly doubtful.

If she were a replacement she could be nominated for the Olivier - she'd totally deserve it! I guess she's still an 'understudy' because Sheridan is currently due to return? If Sheridan decides not to return, I guess they would re-classify Natasha as a 'replacement' (if she got the gig of course).

Scooby Doo definitely won't be nominated. It's playing around 6 performances and you need 30 to be nominated. I think half the ones nominated in best musical won't be eligible or just won't be nominated. American Idiot was in last year, so it couldn't be done for best new musical again?

Little Matchgirl and All the Angels are new plays.
EDIT: Why earth is Jane Horrocks in as best play actress? Similarly with This House not being eligible. I thought these had already been cleared up?

I don't think the Sam Wannamaker is an eligible theatre as Farinelli was only nominated for the Duke of York's stint. Also, the An Inspector Calls production has been on the west end before so I'm not sure it would be eligible for best revival.

I think it is still up in the air at the moment as to whether Dreamgirls will be considered in the Best New Musical category or Best Musical Revival category, something we will not actually know for sure until the nominations come out. Completely dependant on if they treat it ala Cinderella on Broadway or not.

The Chichester Festival Theatre productions of Young Chekhov aren't eligible because of too few performances (23 of Ivanov, 17 of Platonov and 20 0f Seagulov).
Woyzeck has been delayed until May 2017 so it won't be eligible for 2016.
Do you always call the Almeida Theatre the Almedia as an hilarious joke? If not, it's the Almeida.
Julius Caesar and Henry IV at King's Cross are returning productions so probably not eligible.

I really hope Chris and Gina are nominated for Show Boat, they are phenomenal in those roles. Also both Darius and Sheridan deserve to be nominated for Funny Girl, with Sheridan giving one of the best performances I personally have ever seen, she is up there with Imelda in my opinion with this role. Also would love to see Beverley get nominated for The Bodyguard. I can see it happening as she is incredible in that role, but at the same time, it is looking to be a packed category.

I'd like all of those to be nominated too. I'd love Beverley to be nominated as she's amazing in that role and hasn't been nominated for that part before. Sheridan will probably get nominated, Gina should but it depends on the category. I'm almost certain that Amber Riley will be nominated. Loads of new shows for next year that will win: Dreamgirls, Funny Girl, The Bodyguard etc

How many performances did Sheridan do at the Savoy before she left?

How many performances did Sheridan do at the Savoy before she left? I'm not sure from April to May? Surely if she comes back though then that will make numbers up? Yeah I'm just thinking if she doesn't come back if they'd still want to award her. Do they have a period of time in which they are invited to see the show like Tony voters?

I think it was around 40 performances Sheridan did of Funny Girl during her initial stint at the Savoy.

How many performances did Sheridan do at the Savoy before she left? Didn't Martine McCutcheon turn up for the bare minimum required during 'My Fair Lady'?

Thanks for the suggestions so far.
Edited with posters comments, which I have included in Red with my own observations as well, Blue is new entries.
Couldn't find any info on Little Matchgirl? The mis-spelling of Almedia wasn't dliberate? Is the Pacifist's Guide to the War on Cancer not a musical? I know the National are doing a musical in the Dorfman this year, don't know why I thought it was this one?
Please excuse any mistakes or missing red/blue, for some reason on this board, when you copy/cut, it doesn't include this when you have changed colour or made something bold, when you paste in a new location, don't know why that is? Sorry.
I noticed Art was in best new play, I have moved this to best play (revival).
Your observations on here are always more that welcome!

A Pacifist's Guide to the War on Cancer is a musical. Just stumpled across this on the National Theatre's website, whilst looking for something else. Indeed it is a musical, with music by Tom Parkinson and Lyrics by Bryony Kimmings. www.nationaltheatre.org.uk/shows/a-pacifists-guide-to-the-war-on-cancerStrange name for a musical, I don''t anticipate many coach parties.

As I understand it, having spoken to a SOLT voter; The Arts theatre is eligible (something about them paying a certain minimum) The Charing Cross theatre and Menier are not. An American in Paris opens too late to be eligible for the 2017 awards (Hard luck - they'll be up against Hamilton in 2018) Dreamgirls is (in the eyes of SOLT) definitely a new musical.

I know I should probably not complain and I will get crap for it, but it is ridiculous for it to be considered as a New Musical, regardless of it never being on the West End, it has been around for 30+ friggin' years! They should do a Cinderella on Broadway and consider it a Revival.

I do wonder what can be considered a 'new' musical regardless of age. The Wizard of Oz for example was classed as a revival despite having a new book and new songs.

A completely new production, and correct me if I'm wrong, but the film version had never been done really on the West End?
