Previews from March 22, Opening Night April 17 2019 at the Walter Kerr Theatre. With a shorter preview period it will probably be the same show from the National Theatre. No word on casting but, it will probably be the same from the NT run. Hadestown Broadway

They could do with a longer preview period, the show needs a lot of work!

They could do with a longer preview period, the show needs a lot of work! It seems they're obviously to this. As all reports seem to indicate very little was changed during the previews to opening at NT. No point in having an extended period of previews if you're not going to do anything with the response and feedback.

The first preview was last night and it sounds like the production team has worked on it since the NT run to make it tighter and fix what didn't work here in London.

New promo video features what sounds like a new song for Eurydice, 'Wait for Me' style. Be interested to know if they've moved any songs and how extensive changes have been.

Opening night is tonight. I wonder how the critics will like it.

Looks pretty close to the London one to me. Few costume changes here and there and orchestrations : vocal arrangements. And yeah. New Eurydice ‘Wait For Me’ ? Have a feeling they’ve just given her that bit of the song, perhaps, because it’s exactly the same lyrics. Or reprised it. I don’t know. Will see how critics received. Thoroughly enjoyed the NT production.

Thoroughly enjoyed the NT production. Sounds like a new one to me at ~43 seconds in. The ensemble hook "Show the Way" sounds like a different key and different pace to Wait for Me, which follows it in the video. There does seem to be a bit of a callback between the two.

I'm now getting really confused. Did they add the "Show the way" part of the track to the London production? Or was it there in the original?

Ah my bad, should have said "it sounds like a new song to me..." This "Show the Way" wasn't in the London production. I think its part of a new song for Broadway written for Eurydice. 'Wait for Me' was extended for the London production, from the version heard on the soundtrack, they added a new bridge. Whilst this 'Show the Way' sounds very similar to the new bridge on 'Wait for Me' I'm sure its a different song, added to give a bit more dimension to the Orpheus/Eurydice relationship.

It's the "Wait for Me" reprise from Act 2. It's identical to how it was in London. There are quite a few changes from the National to Broadway but this is not one of them. I can try and look if someone made a list of them and post it here. Ah my bad, should have said "it sounds like a new song to me..." This "Show the Way" wasn't in the London production. Yes it was added to London, as well as the extended part in Wait For Me (I'm coming, wait for me, I hear the walls repeating.. etc) in Act 1. A lot of songs were added to London compared to what's in the original recording.

I remember the act2 WFM reprise, but this part in the video sounded completely new to me. How strange. Perks of getting old. Is it not a bit odd that the video would feature the reprise then the song proper?

And there's an outfit choice from Reeve on opening night too! He's cute but oh, my eyes! My eyes!

And poof! The romantic and otherwise longings brought on by him whilst watching the show at the Nash disappear faster than the promises of a politician.
There are no words.

Can you bring the show back home with you please? Thanks Honestly I would love to! The theatre it is playing in New York is fairly small. No reason it couldn't fit into somewhere like the Lyric/Phoenix. And gosh it would be great in the Gillian Lynne.

That being said, it is doing incredibly well on Broadway as you’ve said. I WANNA SEE IT AGAIN SO BADLY.
