Opened this week. I loved the original but it’s brilliance was largely due to the fantastic tension achieved without the use of overly graphic murder scenes. I do hope they’ve kept to that with this update. I cannot deal with scenes where people’s throats are slashed open and suchlike. Implied violence is so much more effective. Anyone been?

It's fantastic! I saw a midnight showing on opening night and it's the best Halloween film since the original. Suspense filled, shocking, emotional, scary, it has it all. I'm a massive fan of the series and was not left dissapointed at all. I will say, you get alot more Judy Greer than I was expecting, and you get less of Jamie Lee Curtis than I expected, but when she is on, it's golden. I won't spoil any twists and turns, but I found myself jaw on the floor at several moments, especially toward the end. I will also say, there are kills in this film, as to be expected, and some of them are very graphic, so if you are not a fan of that you may not want to see it. But otherwise, the special effects are awesome and really do add to the film. It's a fantastic film and a return to form. It's going to make so much money and undoubtably lead to a sequel or two (though the ending of this film if perfect and full circle, so it doesn't need one in my opinion). If you get the chance, go and watch it, it's great!

I went yesterday and the violence was very gratuitous. The film in my opinion was not great, far fetched is an understatement especially with the masked man who seems to have 101 lives. Still who am I to comment. It's taken almost $100 m so far out of a budget of $10m. Though I would warn anyone squeamish you will need to look away many times!

I’m really bad with these types of films. The old ones seem to still be effective but I don’t think I’ve seen a genuinely scary movie for at least 10 years. I laughed through this and predicted every beat of the action. Scary Movie was actually more terrifying.

I enjoyed it. Ridiculous plot (that kitchen unit though lol) but at least aimed to follow on from the original and the slashing was quickly cut away from.
A Quiet Place was more suspenseful but this was an enjoyable Halloween bit of hokum. 🎃
