It has some great comedic actors in it with Brooks Ashmanskas, Beth Level, and Chris Sieber so I really want it to succeed but, from all indicators are pointing towards a flop unfortunately.

Honestly, there is no buzz at all for this show. A peak at Telecharge shows it's not selling well either. Finally, as much as I like the three actors they are not names.

I made a check over to Broadwayworld and I was surprised at the positive notices the show is receiving mainly at how funny it is. If you like camp then this is the show for for.
Unfortunately, the show is not selling at all. The house is wide open in November and December. Maybe the positive word of mouth will turn the tides? I have a business trip to NYC in about two weeks and if I get some free time I might get a ticket.

Well I saw it and really enjoyed it , yes it’s camp, it’s fun, loved the score- it’s funny and a great night out - I’d definitely really catching it if you’re in NY and want to see a show but not break the bank

Had tickets for 10 November and loved this fun show right from the start with this winning cast and bouncy score. It is in previews at present and posting a sold out sign for the performance I attended. The audience was showing a lot of love constantly through out the show. It will be a hit and this is good for the entire theatre scene. Got my seats at the tkts booth on 47th Street/Broadway which worked out well.

The Prom performance on the Macy's Thanksgiving Prade was really enjoyable. I'm getting more and more excitied to see this in January!

Hmm. Saw this yesterday afternoon and didn't have quite as much fun as I'd been hoping. The show has its moments - quite a few of them, in fact - but I kept wanting it to be that much funnier, twistier, more compelling, and in the case of the central role of the high school student, better cast. I wonder if somewhere upstream in the development process, they should have conceived this as a biggish off-Broadway show rather full-scale Broadway musical. I'd definitely recommend seeing it, but don't expect "Hairspray."

The grosses for this show has been slowly growing every week and I think it will start going into the black in the next few weeks.
Once again the stuff I said at the beginning of this thread just shows how much I know.

Truly wonderful! A great original piece which is a true love letter to Broadway. The score in particular is a highlight and the cast are really great. A genuinely feel good show - it gave me the same sort of vibes as Hairspray and Legally Blonde.
Rush tickets - $40! In the orchestra.

I hope it will get some Tony love.

US Tour announced and licensing agreements for the show worldwide. I can see this becoming the go to show for many am-dram groups (great range of ages for the cast, lots of female roles) in the way that Legally Blonde/Dagenham and 9 to 5 were.

Final Performance set for August 11th. Really sad to see it go, I had a wonderful time when I saw it earlier this year. If you are going to NYC this summer, go see this show. At least it's getting a life on Netflix and on the road. The Prom Closing

I’m surprised nobody has post this yet. Casting for the Netflix movie has been announced. Meryl Streep and Nicole Kidman are really gets. I think they could probably get somebody better than James Corden. The Prom Movie Cast

I saw this last night and had a great time. Incredibly partisan audience (three days before World Pride/Stonewall 50) and a full house with the cast relishing the response. Having said that I loved it, I have to agree with joeinnewyork that this feels like an off-Broadway show that has grown up a bit too fast. The characters are so broad and the story somewhat simplistic that at times it felt a bit lost on this stage. Additionally the very sharp Broadway in-jokes are going to be over the heads of some of the audience. I got some of them (I hope Patti LuPone has a sense of humour) but I’m sure I missed many more. Not sure it’s going to get many coach parties from Indiana either. Having said that I don’t want to be too negative as I did have a ball and laughed a lot. I sorry for the cast and creatives who are still putting absolutely everything into their performances and there’s a lot of charm and love in the show.

I think they could probably get somebody better than James Corden. The Prom Movie CastI must admit to being a pit peeved when I saw the cast announcement for this. The other two recent Netflix acquisitions of stage properties (Boys In The Band, American Son) have gone forward stage cast intact. There was a bit of complaining of Twitter (straightwashing was a phrase used, is that a thing??) And I'm sure I saw whitewashing too (but don't quote me) which seemed odd especially as the version I saw (Atlanta) had virtually no POC in it.
I know none of the main cast are 'names' but arguably the same could be said of Steven Pasquale, Robin De Jesus etc. I know re-casting for 'Hollywood' has always been a thing but it is a bit of a slap in the face to this cast who stuck with the project for years
