I wonder where Mean Girls will go if Groundhog Day takes the Savoy?

Groundhog Day is very likely.. As much as I'd love to see that as I missed it first time round, I can't see that selling out the Savoy for very long...

I wonder where Mean Girls will go if Groundhog Day takes the Savoy? Mean Girls is the strongest rumour I've heard, but it keeps getting held back.

Mean Girls wants (and is likely to get) the Adelphi, no one thinks Waitress will run very long.

I'm sure this has been said before before by other board members but it seems to make sense Mean Girls going in there with Funny Girl and Dreamgirls being Sonia Friedman productions too (and all having the word girl in the title!) and it does feel like a good fit for the theatre.
I had thought that maybe the Savoy was better for the classier, classic musicals that it's had recently with it being next door to the Savoy Hotel but then you can't get any tackier than Miss Love Island 2017 in 9 to 5 The Musical so Mean Girls should be fine!

It sounds like you haven’t seen Mean Girls. It is not tacky as you say. And it certainly would look a lot better in the Adelphi than cramped into the Savoy.

Would personally prefer Groundhog Day at the Adelphi, & Mean Girls at the Savoy but it’s not a big deal- i’m just happy I get the chance to see both!

No I haven't seen Mean Girls but I am eagerly waiting for it to transfer so that I can. I didn't say it was tacky, I said that 9 to 5 was tacky. What I was saying was that to me to me Mean Girls is a different category of musical altogether to the likes of Funny Girl, Dreamgirls and Gypsy. I've seen the movie countless times and obviously it's a teen-comedy so I assume most of the audiences will be teens and their families or people who were young adults when the film came out. And maybe it will look better in the Adelphi, I'm not even pretending to have a clue about stage sizes and sets!

It wouldn't have lasted nearly as long on Broadway if Sarah hadn't kept doing her return visits. Case and point, the first week of 2019 it just took $539,472.00. Sarah and Gavin returned/started, and last week it took $972,519.80. Without Sarah, this show would of closed a while ago sadly. Which is sad to say, because I love it!

Huh. That's so interesting! From what I've seen of Sara, her acting isn't superduper (voice? magic. Acting? okay.).

Well this in some peoples opinion may be a "tacky" filler but it is selling well. Just checked random dates through Jan - March on the ATG website and only premium and package seats available at silly money in the stalls at least!

I think I may hold out for day seats. I haven't sat in a good two years except for 42nd Streets final day and even then I showed up after the box office opened, so I'm certainly intrigued.

Huge allocations of seats are given to ticket agencies to try and sell so ATGs seating plan does t truly show seats actually sold.

Personally I also think this show will attract a fair amount of people initially who don't normally go to the theatre or who don't go very often but are followers of the cast and like Dolly Parton hopefully they realise she is not in it.

I'd be surprised if it didn't make it until the end of the run. It's a filler in a medium sized theatre, I imagine ticket sales will definitely get larger as tourists come in for the Summer so they will want to see how that pans out. I do think we will see some discounts sometimes soon though, and whilst they are promoting Day Seats on the website, they should really do Rush or Lottery too on TodayTix to get more theatre fans in. Are they offering day seats? I must have missed it on their website as I can't see it advertised

Website has now updated with Caroline's casting, with it listed as "until March 2019". I find it interesting that it says 2019. Why would it say that if it was only having a limited run, surely it would only say March? Could it potentially be extended?

Anybody know if Dolly is likely to be going to any of the shows? I believe the alternate is doing Monday evenings and Wednesday matinees.

£25 dayseats for every performance. Wonder whether they’ll be the standard front row like they have been recently with the Savoy.
