😍 I realllly hope we get an original London cast recording of this! 🙏 Also does anyone know if Laura Baldwin as Dawn is sick or off for another reason? She’s been off since Sat so I hope all okay! She was on Friday night but sounded ill so I was expecting her to take a few shows off after

Hm, are there no discounts around for this? It’s not on TKTS, there’s no TidayTix lotto/rush, Day Seats are only Mon-We’d, and yet there’s good availability for all levels for tonight.
They can’t really be playing to a half-empty theatre can they?

Just looked at tonight’s availability.
It really is sad to see so many empty seats. This really is a great show!

.They can’t really be playing to a half-empty theatre can they? Seems like upper circle was closed off at least on Wednesday matinee this week (when I went), and people got upgraded, so I guess they can...

To be fair I remember going to a couple of performances of Kinky Boots quite early in it's run and being shocked how many empty seats there were, I worried the show wouldnt last long. It went on to have a decent run and better audiences. This night do the same.

Will have to check back this afternoon and see if they dynamically price downwards. A quick count of empty seats suggests that they could close the upper circle and upgrade everyone, which makes buying a cheap Upper Circle ticket tempting - but then if they don't do that you're stuck in the worst seat in the house.
Kind of crazy that they're still pricing ticket at £125 each with (having counted them) almost a third of the seats unsold for tonight.

Maybe the Weds matinee being the exception but I’ve noticed that by showtime the show seems pretty well sold. And Mon and Tues this week the shows were pretty much a sellout (probably also as a result of early good review buzz). I was half thinking of getting a last min ticket last night and an hour or so before showtime there def tickets but not tons of them. I guess it comes down to economics and the size of the theatre as to what’s acceptable and profitable. The show is selling v well in comparison to other shows / theatres - it’s just the size of the Adelphi (with its 1,500 seats) that makes it seem it isn’t. But that’s always the risk when a show takes on a bigger theatre I guess. I’d hate for this show to close early due to the size of the theatre they picked

I guess she must be pretty sick to have missed a week’s worth or performances, hope she gets better soon.

Hmm, Upper Circle is suddenly sold out. There were a good 20+ seats available at lunchtime so I guess they have taken it off sale. Plenty of availability elsewhere at the moment. They've been reduced in price a bit since this morning - the £125 premium seat has gone down, but no bargains as yet that I can see.
I guess they will upgrade the upper circle ticket-holders rather than reduce the price of dress and stalls significantly.

So.….the Upper Circle is closed on a Friday evening so soon after great opening reviews? Clearly they will fill the stalls and circle seats still unsold with the upgrades. It is often very difficult to tell if you are in the stalls or circle how many people (if any at all) are in the upper levels of a theatre. Clever house dressing, without discounting.
Perhaps worth a punt buying a cheap Upper Circle seat early in the week?

I've seen on instagram people with Upper Circle tickets getting upgraded to Row D of Stalls. It's definitely annoying for those who paid way more for worse dress circle/stalls seats. But I think they are making more money this way than heavily discounting or doing todaytix, at least for now.

From quick count now there’s about 280 seats left in the stalls and dress circle when there were prob about 400 overall this morning so it’s been selling fairly steadily today.

I might try this tactic but knowing my luck it wouldn’t work out for me 😄😐 But yeah they don’t seem to be discounting the show, and they’re only selling 20 day tix per performance on Mon-Weds

I just don’t understand why they won’t flog some of those seats that are obviously not going to sell - ‘cos I don’t believe for a minute that 10s of people are suddenly going to get the urge to spend £60-70 to see Waitress in 2 hours’ time - as day seats/Lotto.
I can understand them thinking that the show would sell well enough on Fri-Sat to justify not doing day seats before the show opened, but at this point surely they should reconsider? It’s not a hugely buzzed-about show despite the pies - surely it’s better to get people in through the doors?

It makes me sad a new musical so early in its run is already closing levels.

Think the longer term game kathryn. If you start discounting and word gets around you are discounting just after your press night, the result is damaging your image and credibility for the entire run. Far better to fill the house however you can initially, knowing that London does tend to take 3 weeks or so to really decide to see something new or not. With dynamic pricing they can do anything, but set against that what people on here have already heard from Instagram, and it's a balancing act for the show's marketing team. Equally though, the “repeat” audiences aren’t gonna pay £60 a ticket each time. I’m not sure how much of the house is made up of that audience but it must be a fair bit. This week I’ve taken my mum to 9 to 5 and Come From Away through rush/discounted tickets. Waitress didn’t get a look in because they don’t have any such deals.

That could just be where people have been upgraded from closing the upper circle rather than suddenly selling loads of stalls seats for last night

Stylistically, it's a bit off. It does not read abused waitress who finds her inner strength. It kind of looks like sexy waitress for Halloween. I'm curious how unrecognizable the score will sound with all her riffing. She's talented AF. But the Mariah thing needs to simmer down.

WhatsOnStage have this listed as closing 19th October. Is this the website listing "closing dates" as when the show is currently booking to or does anyone know if this is actually due to close then?

I think if they were planning to close then they’d announce it, that’s just the end of the booking period for now.

It just seems weird that they don't list any other show like this apart from SIX, which is listed until January 2020. I think it's a little misleading.

Anyone seen the photos online of Kat and her elderly chihuahua leaving the theatre. Worth a look just to see the expression on the pet's face.

Saw Waitress and Come From Away on consecutive days and concluded that the new generation of musical theatre shows can definitely hold their own amongst the more established shows in the glittering West End.I found it to be a very warm and funny show with a big heart.I read Kat’s portrayal as that of a forlorn,brow-beaten small-town girl who has forgotten how to dream big dreams or had them knocked out of her. When she hits the big notes it’s showstopper stuff! I am woman, hear my voice! Wow! Loved the support cast without exception.Great fun merch and if you go,remember to fill in one of the blank American diner-style orders forms in the foyer and post it on the board with your thoughts on the show.
