Still, it is a pointless show about everyone having affairs.

I'd disagree about it being pointless. The overarching theme of finding inner strength touches me every time I listen to the cast album.

So Lucie Jones told the audience at a concert last night that Waitress "will be here imminently" and peformed She Used To Be Mine. Does she know more than we do or is she just acting off the rumours too? 🤔

Siobhan Dillon performed 'She Used To Be Mine' on her debut album, this was performed also on Elaine Paige's Show on Radio 2, so maybe a suggestion there.
Dreamgirls is starting to sag sales wise, so maybe a theatre there. Waitress will definitely come to the West End it has recouped, so the producers are cash rich and would use that money to speculate in the West End.

Siobhan's version is a bit more personal- the girl she's singing about is pretty much her old self pre-cancer treatment. It's certainly an interesting and personal take on the song. Though I don't think we should read too much into actresses covering the song as a sign that they will be in a show. I do like Siobhan a lot, and think she could be quite suitable. If London wants to go all out with the, maybe Sara Bareilles could open it there for a limited period. Is she known in the UK? I actually preferred her a lot more than Jesse Meuller, who was good, but I thought Sara was a bit more interesting.

I agree and you cannot read too much in a song being covered, however if it did come over, it makes a great calling card. I think she would be great for the role, but would take Jessie Mueller or Sara Barallies first.

It was my least favourite show I saw in New York in April. Basically about a group of people all having affairs in a cake shop. Some nice music though I agree. Problem is a pie for people in the U.K. is a different thing and unlike Hairspray, Memphis, Kinky Boots, Wicked etc there is no message or reason for the show. It's vacuous and American and I doubt it will transfer. Sounds like utter sh*te to me!!

I really won't be surprised if this is one of the next Broadway shows to come over. I'd hazard a guess we could see it before the end of nect year, or at least be announced my then.
That said, I don't know if they'd bring it if they couldn't find the right actress. Natasha J Barnes comes to mind for me, I think she'd be fabulous in the role personally.

This was my least favourite show I saw on Broadway.
Some nice songs, terrible book and story. Sweet as candy, critics will hate it.

It’s vacuous and American but I think it’s shiny and hearty enough that average West End theatre audiences will like it. Don’t forget that a good chunk of people that go to the theatre in London aren’t British, so it means very little if british people don’t like it.

Well I for one absolutely adore this show. The sooner the transfer, the better for me. It's nice to see a realistic bunch of female characters on stage, and the cast album is so fun and bubbly.
Plus can we please get Jessie Mueller over here doing something? I've been a but fan for years.

I've not seen the show, nor have I listened to the cast album all the way through (I generally don't like listening to an album until I've seen the show) but from what I have heard I would love for this to transfer. Really hope we see it in London at some point during the next couple of years.

She didn't do Carol King, which was her actual win, so I think she is ready to move on. Plus she is going to be in Carousel for a while. To be honest I'd rather see someone new and local in it. I wasn't too crazy about Jessie- who I generally like. Her vocal style and "yodeling" was a bit weird. I thought Sara was a lot better.

I think this could be the vehicle for Elaine Paige's return to London's glitzy West End. British it up a little and set it in Bournemouth and you have a monster hit on your hands. "Can I take your order?" "Two . . . . . . . Soups . . . . . "

Oh I agree that I don't think she'd do Waitress if it came over. I'd just like to see her in anything. A concert would suffice. There are a couple of West End actresses I'd like to see take a crack at Jenna over here. There's a lovely video of Chloe Hart singing She Used To Be Mine on YT actually.

My point is there is no real ending or resolution in the book or plot and you leave the theatre with the feeling that it was not complete. Think of most shows and remove the last 10/15 minutes. That's what waitress feels like. Fun show, nice music, odd story, unresolved plot. I agree. I really liked it up to the moment where {Spoiler - click to view} Earl found the money. From that moment on it was like let's give up on the plan to enter the baking contest altogether. I also found the sudden introduction of the doctor's wife quite silly. All we basically know about him the first half of the show is that he's madly in love with Jenna and that she makes him feel things he's never felt before (or something along those lines, I don't remember the exact words he used), and then all of a sudden it turns out that he has a wife who happens to be perfectly lovely and it kind of makes him look like a bit of a jerk. Maybe if his wife were a bitch, then it could have made a good plot point. But now it just seems like they're trying to shove a moralistic view of the world down our throats, because no one is completely good or bad and the real world isn't a fairytale. Except, most people don't go see musicals to be reminded of the real world. In my opinion you can't {Spoiler - click to view} write two characters that are clearly perfect for each other and then have them not end up together . At least that's my opinion. But then again I'm a sucker for happy endings, or at the very least resolved endings. But I guess we can't blame that on the book writer because she most likely had to stay close to the plot of the movie. Although I think an adaptation should leave room for different things. Anyway, I do really like the show for the most part.

Jason Mraz and Sara Bareilles. Last time I cried this much in a theatre was during Titanic in the Charing Cross. What a show, I really loved it!

So Karen Cartwright has finally been cast in a Broadway show, albeit for a limited engagement. www.playbill.com/article/katharine-mcphee-will-make-her-broadway-debut-in-waitress I foolishly thought she'd given up on her theatre career after losing the Tony to Ivy Lynn, but it looks as though she's been lurking all this time! (Hopefully she'll be suddenly asked to be in a small, revolutionary fringe production downtown and won't be able to do this...)

At least this is one rumor that came into fruition.
She's got a nice voice but dull as a doorknob. Is she starring as the pie?

As much as I love this show their casting is so unstable. They clearly struggle to find leads that aren’t for limited engagements, real shame.

Yes, the last period was a mix of Sarah and Drew coming in and out, but I find that very exciting and spontaneous. They're also very upfront and transparent about their casting (I'm looking at you, Chess) and handling it quite professionally and openly.

His versions of At Last, Losing My Mind and a mashup of Somewhere Over The Rainbow & Home are all amazing too. Thank god for YouTube 😁😁
