Got a pleasant surprise last night when a contestant in Spanish TV show OT (kind of like X Factor) sang She Used To Be Mine!

Oh, this is good to know, I can studiously avoid booking these dates! Thanks for the heads-up!

Great news for the 20 or so people in the UK who know who he is!

Well, that's weird.
Not least because i don't think the bloke has ever done any theatre or singing before?
I'm still excited to see the show but i gotta say some of the casting of this piece is debatable.

Do the casting team realise this show is opening in the West End and not Broadway?!
I don't know who the hell Jack McBrayer is, and I only know Kat McPhee from being in smash and playing Jenna on Broadway, this is stunt casting gone wrong IMO. I'm sure the show will be fine, but I think a British Actress or 'name' would've done them more favours when it comes to press coverage or reviews when it opens!
As much as I want this show to do well, I have my doubts, I feel the lack of 'hype' and the barn of the Adelphi won't end well. The British cast are outstanding and I feel that they'll hold this piece up, as will the inevitable British Jenna. It's a shame as trusting Kat to get the good reviews could kill this show before it's began! Especially as I think the press will be a lot more favourable towards Come From Away opening a month beforehand!
I'd love to see the show have a great run but just now I fear for it!

To be fair, casting McBrayer will get them publicity in the UK media - as thats an area that was OBSESSED with 30 Rock despite it being watched by 2 dogs and a cat in the UK. See also the UK medias insistence on trying to make stars of the people in SNL despite the fact that again in the UK its only watched by a llama called Dave and some goldfish opposite the Rumbelows on Luton High Street.

I loved 30 Rock and I loved Jack McBrayer in it. However, this news does not encourage me in the least to go and see Waitress. (PS not sure duncan if that makes me a dog or a cat...)

I was on the fence, but I will book to see Jack McBrayer.
I am reasonably sure I am a minority in this.

The only reason I know this guy is because he voiced Fix It Felix in Wreck It Ralph

Why can't they just reveal the whole cast at once and move on?

I absolutely LOVED Chris Fitzgerald as Ogie both times I saw the show on Broadway (once with Jessie Mueller and once with Kat McPhee) and this guy def fits the Ogie spec, so I think he’ll be great. And whilst I personally have zero problem that they’re casting Americans in this show (and btw I thought Kat McPhee was a wonderful Jenna and can 100% see why they’ve gone with her to open the show - her She Used To Be Mine live is one of my fave live theatre moments ever ) I actually thought that they would have gone for a well known British actor/comedian to play Ogie. Anyway overall I am really happy with this casting, I think it’s pretty perfect. Just still concerned about the size of the theatre and wish they’d gone for somewhere more intimate. I’m also interested to see how/if they’ll change up the show to cater for us British audiences.

They should have just gotten Ross Noble for Ogie....that would have been a no brainer

Oh yeah, so Marisha is the best casting of the leads.

As a person who considers 30 Rock as a top 5 television program I am really excited to see Jack go into musical theatre. I think he will do great as Ogie and like most people said, he fits the specks. I wonder how long he is going to be in it though.

I haven't thought of Joey McIntyre for a long time. He has had some Broadway experience so he isn't going to be terrible but I don't think he will be great. Waitress is slowly going down the stunt casting hole to stay open but at least most of the casting has been pretty good.
I wonder once Jack McBrayer finishes in London will he come to Broadway?

Finally booked for this, have been treated to some stalls seats at the pricier end but it will be my 18th birthday and the prices aren't too crazy in previews. Coupled with a return to Company the next day this should make for a perfect birthday!
