I can't take the credit for that. I saw this the other day and thought it was brilliant!

After watching the new Mamma Mia for the second time yesterday I think Lily James could potentially be great casting for Jenna at some point, I think she has the right voice for it. She’d be a good call if they need to get a name in later in the run if she wasn’t as busy with film roles as she seems to be right now. She'll be doing All about Eve at the Noel Coward Theatre from February. {Spoiler - click to view} I don't think her voice is strong enough for Jenna tho Yeah I wasn’t suggesting her to open it, just as an option in a few years.

I agree that Joanna is a bit out of the right age range now, but oh well. The Manila production is probably a standalone non-replica version. It has its own creative team. So it seems they just bought the rights for the material and are doing their own thing. The musical theatre scene in Manila is absolutely thrilling and a fantastic new market.

It's theatre, your actual age shouldn't have to be a serious consideration unless you look it. Sure, it'd be weird if she were in her 50s and looked it, but she's early 40s and can pass for 30s easily, so I don't see an issue.

I agree to a certain extent. I think she reads younger anyways and pulls it off.

I like her, but this is not Emma's best work.
What about Siobhan Dillon?

Having heard 'She Used To Be Mine' twice this week (Jeremy Jordan and Louise Dearman) I'm reminded of how lovely a song it is. I'm looking forward to hearing Jane McDonald sing it when she opens the show soon.

Casting news (sort of) - whoever plays Jenna, it won't be Emma Hatton. I was sitting in front of her at Cadogan tonight and someone asked her, and she said that she hasn't auditioned for it or been asked to and doesn't know if she even will be.

Isn't Sara opening it here? She's the main attraction at the press event for it on Sept 25th Well she would be given she wrote it... No announcement yet on casting. Casting news (sort of) - whoever plays Jenna, it won't be Emma Hatton. I was sitting in front of her at Cadogan tonight and someone asked her, and she said that she hasn't auditioned for it or been asked to and doesn't know if she even will be. Well that doesn't necessarily mean it won't be Emma, all it means is she hasn't been asked to audition yet. She could be - they may not have auditioned yet (maybe others on here know?). Or maybe they will just ask (or have asked) Katharine McPhee to do it, who knows.

In seriousness, I imagine by now they will have the actress lined up so posters and stuff can be released in the near future and they can be used for promotional purposes. I know they had Samantha Barks on the top of their list, but that doesn't look likely to happen now, especially as even with the mixed reviews, Pretty Woman is one of the biggest new hits of the Summer on Broadway so it won't be going anywhere quite yet, or at least in time for Waitress' opening.

Thanks for the heads up! Booked for 9th March. The pre-sale ends on Tuesday at 10am which coincides with the "special event" (whatever that may be) so general sale would seem pretty certain to start then.
At six foot three, the stalls is the only option I consider in the Adelphi. I've found Row K to be nicely offset from the row in front in the past. There's little to no rake further forward.
