And about time! Better than the alternative of empty seats surely. They will probably be able to sell as many as they want to initially. I understand the logic of some shows not offering rush, but this was crying out for it. well this is where their issue will lie. What they need to do is go for the 42nd Street/La Mancha route and add tickets throughout the day to make the most of people getting tickets on the cheap so at least they are filling seats. If they are still stubborn and only have like 10 Rush seats a show, that's then a waste of the opportunity. Hopefully they will be smart and go the former.

Already available on Rush for all shows, unlike day seats that were not available on the weekend.

I didnt think he was charming at all, in fact his character really just made my skin crawl, which didn't help This is one of the things that puts me off seeing Waitress. In my opinion a doctor who has an adulterous relationship with a pregnant, emotionally vulnerable patient should be being investigated by the US equivalent of the GMC for unprofessional behaviour. Yet I gather the character is supposed to basically be the hero of the piece.

To be honest I find this kind of reasoning to be a little perplexing- it’s a piece of musical theatre designed to entertain; to an extent we are supposed to suspend disbelief. Admittedly Chicago is a satirical piece but I don’t think I’ve ever heard someone complaining that all the leads have murdered their husbands. As you say, you haven’t seen it. He isn’t cast as a hero, he is flawed in the same way that all of the leads are.

One word: Phantom.

That's not a comparison - Phantom doesn't portray the character's obsessive nature as a good thing, Christine is completely bewitched by him. And that is also a story not set in the modern day, so the parallels are less direct in any event.

Also hoping that the two seats together in row P of the dress are ok. Booked to go back at the end of May and based on the info from the usual sources it seems to be fine. Not sure about the other rows though.

The whole point of Waitress is that it’s about people who’s lives are messy, and they make decisions which you might not condone but which are understandable and relatable in the circumstances. And in response to Dawnstar if you’ve actually seen the film or the musical it’s hardly a case of Jenna being taken advantage of! And if you take the view that you’re not going to watch a show because characters might make morally questionable decisions then you’re ruling out a heck of a lot of shows there lol! And no, Dr P isn’t the hero of the piece at all.

Took a quick look at tomorrow’s and Thursday’s available seats and it’s certainly looking much healthier than before in the stalls/circle with upper circle almost sold out. Do they take seats off sale in advance for Rush maybe, or has Waitress finally turned a corner?

That is why I'm 100% on Raoul's side. I cannot understand fans who think Christine should have gone for the Phantom instead. (Don't mention Love Never Dies - I'm still annoyed by the existence of that show!)

The whole point of Waitress is that it’s about people who’s lives are messy, and they make decisions which you might not condone but which are understandable and relatable in the circumstances. But the decisions aren't understandable or relatable in the circumstances - especially not for someone in the doctor's position. It effectively makes a mockery of his job, and I'm not sure how anyone could find that entertaining. Same with Dawn's stalker boyfriend - there's nothing charming in the slightest about how he goes about getting her. The only understandable decision is the one Jenna makes at the end, but they could have got to that in a number of different, far more relatable ways that actually tackled the serious issues that underlie the fluff in this show instead of turning them all into slapstick for cheap laughs. I couldn't believe some of the moments the audience were laughing at when they saw it - in any other show it wouldn't have been a laughing matter at all.

Good people sometimes do bad things. Sometimes people write stories, plays, musicals etc. Sometimes as a searing reflection of real life; sometimes as entertainment, sometimes as a bit of both. To entertain. Sometimes the subject matter is challenging. Sometimes it’s daft. The audience will take different things away from it based on their life experiences, tolerance to fugly sitcom actors murdering previously excellent songs and general world view. For example I personally am horrified (clutches pearls) by the treatment of women by a Winky prince in ‘Wicked’ and it’s glorification of the occult. I shall henceforth mention it every. single. time. ‘Wicked’ is mentioned until I fall asleep 💤 no wait, too late. 😂
