I don't think we will get a response until maybe Monday. They will probably need a few days to sit down with her and everyone involved to work out what to do.
I feel sorry for the production and two theatres, this is obviously very damaging. Even if she is re cast you don't know if people will think negatively of the production or boycott it just because of that initial casting, which i don't think would be fair. This is also the directors first big show and for all this storm to be happening must be quite difficult. Obviously if this actress stays on then we are really in a storm here.
On the actress herself, i have to say that i am giving her the benefit of the doubt. The message was posted when she was young. It's clear she was brought up in a religious family and would have had these beliefs ingrained in her. Moving to a big city and becoming involved in this industry may have opened her eyes and opened her up to accepting and supporting things she didn't back then. I find it hard to believe she has worked in the shows she has, alongside actors she has and has the friends she has, if she is still so against homosexuality.
That said, i think it's probably a step to far for her to actually play a LGBT role if she's had these views in the past and has the family that she has. There's no doubt about it that keeping her on would make the production suffer, now that it has made such a uproar.

Her Twitter trail is full of quotes from the Bible, she's like a little Christian fortune cookie, so it's hardly surprising that those are (or at the very least were) her views. She's merely quoting something that she's probably been brainwashed with since birth. In fairness, she could also have changed her mind since then after working in the industry these past few years. People do. Who would have thought, for example, that it would have been a Conservative Prime Minister supporting gay marriage back then in the face of opposition from many of his own party? Of course, she may not have changed her opinion at all.
Her silence is worrying I have to admit. It suggests to me that she is either (a) working on some form of statement to try to smooth over the waters or (b) she still has those views and is waiting to now be let go from the production so that she can play the martyr. If her views had changed, one would think that she would be mortified by the publication of this old post and make some form of immediate apology (no matter how unpolished it might have been) to say "I thought this once but I have changed my mind" but again, she hasn't said a word. I'd be surprised if she had changed her opinion though, the Bible says homosexuality is wrong and she seems like a pretty committed Christian. How she gets by day after day in this old business of show with gayers on every corner I don't know though!
Unless a suitable statement comes out from her, I can't see how Leicester Curve can keep her in the production and neither should they. There's got to be at least one gayer in that show who won't want to work with her. Can't imagine Sir Ian McKellen will be too happy with them if they keep her when he shows up at the theatre a couple of weeks before the musical starts.
Having said all of that, I might just be entirely disgusted by the fact they're still using the American spelling of the word 'colour' in the title. Last time I looked, Leicester was nowhere near Ohio.

Birmingham Hippodrome have released the same initial statement, but are commenting on all posts refering to the incident, as opposed to Curve who commented on just the one.

This issue could completely de-rail this show before it has even taken flight. She needs to make a statement now so that there is complete transparency on the views she holds today. Both the Curve and the Hippo will be devastated as well as they both work so hard to try and support work that is inclusive and this controversy will not sit well with them.

I wouldn't be surprised if contractually there's some sort of stay written into artist contracts these days that prevents them from commenting on such situations without prior direct consultation with the production team. No doubt there will be a flurry of crisis meetings between the Curve and Hippodrome today.

I wonder if someone from the Birmingham Hippodrome team was tempted to reply to 'Robyn' saying "oh eff orf Robyn, we didn't say that we were supporting this attitude at all, we said that we were looking into it and will respond accordingly".

It's so weird though because alot of people are calling out the Curve and Hippodrome, when they are not the ones who decided to be homophobic assholes. Like, I get that people are mad, I'm furious, but it's not their fault.

Random question, assuming the production still goes ahead (lol)..if you have never been to Leicester or Birmingham before which would be a better experience for a tourist to do a day trip?

To be fair, if you think The Nash is gorgeous then you'll probably like Birmingham. They really took concrete to their hearts there.
I don't think they do border checks in either city but probably best to take your passport just in case.

It does depend on what you're after. Leicester has a bit more history to explore but Birmingham has a greater shopping experience, as well as the things like the thinktank science museum. The curve is quite a bit cheaper ticket wise if that impacts your decision too.

I mean, honestly, how can Curve and Hippodrome continue on with her in her in that role. Because now that members of the team, and cast members have seen all this, they won't be happy to work with her either. This is truly disgusting.

Yeah I think that second tweet is the final nail in the coffin, I don’t think she can continue in this LGBT+ role now.

Ouch. That second one is going to hurt.
It will be interesting to see who comes out to support her (as I imagine there will be those who do).

I note that this actor also appeared in "Spring Awakening" at Hope Mill a venue owned by, and a show co-produced by gay people. So, clearly she doesn't have a problem taking the money generated by gay people. I don't think the bible liked hypocrisy either. Somebody show her Matthew chapter 23 verses 13-29.

Can you imagine the conversation at home when she realised she wanted to pursue a career in Musical Theatre? Coming out to her dad must have been horrible.

If she wants anything good out of this, her twitter following has grown by like 60 people so good for her I guess. 😂

She has been indoctrinated like many Christians, Muslims and Jews are worldwide (who continue to indoctrinate their children themselves). Personally, even as a gay man, I can deal with this if she gives an exceptional performance.

Personally, even as a gay man, I can deal with this if she gives an exceptional performance. Can you deal with them playing a gay role though? That's the issue here for me. I kind of agree that under normal circumstances a performers views are their own and as long as they are a good performer I can watch them but when you get into a person with anti gay views playing a gay role....that's where the line is drawn. They shouldn't be playing these roles. I've seen her before, I think she is a talent, I will continue to think she's a talent and would watch her again but it's problematic for me to watch her in this role knowing her views.

Just realised I've seen her in Titanic and Spring Awakening. Wonder why she accepted the part in CP and did she audition? One imagines she did so why was noone seemingly aware of her views? Ive already booked for Hippodrome and am still looking forward to the production but cant see how she can carry on.
