It has of course clouded over in time for the eclipse.

Thought your reading age was a little higher than that Tibidabo . I felt it necessary to revisit my 'Son of Slappy' after the conversation on the Unpopular Opinion thread.

I have just bought a cardigan.
The thing about heatwaves is they make perfectly normal British summer time temperatures suddenly seem freezing! (Ok, so it’s actually a bit below the average here in Manc and very windy - after 26 degrees yesterday 17 is a proper shock!)

I was both genuinely cold, and nearly blown over by the wind while waiting for a bus earlier! Narrowly missed the downpour while walking the dog, who when asked if she wanted to go out the garden during looked at me as if to say 'Are you having an actual laugh?'

Have put on trousers and socks for first time in what seems ages to go to theatre tonight, feels quite odd. And yes the top half of me is dressed as well.

It's a damn good job I wear shorts under my frocks, otherwise a LOT of people in Hyde Park would've been treated to a wind-induced look at my granny knickers. Still, DEFINITELY not complaining, any sort of air movement is MOST welcome at this point!

I hate this heat. I seem to be able to cope with it on holiday as can dress appropriately, have air con, a swimming pool to cool down in etc but here it's horrible. No air con at work SAME!! No air con at work - it’s been hell! They did eventually hire portable a/c units which have made it slightly cooler. I thank my past self every day for buying a car with A/C! I usually have both windows down and a breeze when it’s hot but this has been TOO hot! Even on holiday I struggle with the heat and that’s when I can regularly get in a pool/the sea! It’s now 14C and raining and I’m so happy !!

Smells strangely Autumnal with all the damp fallen leaves. Wildlife / vegetation-wise, I hope they do a BBC Heatwavewatch special.

Well, I'm back from lovely cold windy rainy London where I was freezing because I had packed with only the heatwave in mind. But I welcomed the chance to freeze actually as it's still boiling hot here on the continent.

48c in Spain and Portugal tomorrow. If we had experienced this kind of temperature we have here this summer, 30+ , in the 1960s the package holiday business would never have got off the ground.

Going to see King Lear later - wasn't expecting the weather to be anything like this when I booked but I'm hoping that the Duke of York's air conditioning is working seriously properly:I'm hoping I don't have to depend on a splashing from Sir Ian to keep cool...

Anyone else feel the weather is getting revenge on those of us who complained about the heat by now being perishing though it's still only November? (However I would still pick the current weather over what we had in the summer if I had the choice *hugs radiator*.)
