Someone tweeted asking if she’s ever on
A musical director to be more precise which is just mad
Of course we’ve had our discussions here that she misses a lot of shows but there could be many reasons why
Most people are just curious but there’s a time and a place and that wasn’t it! Came across very cruel and must’ve upset her

Yes I’ve seen that tweet. I’m sure he said that to her again few days ago

It seems she's taking herself off Twitter for a while.

Not sure why her job, over anyone else's should be so harshly judged; especially by people who would have no chance of doing it successfully themselves. It’s pathetic.

If someone has to go off mid show there is obviously a very good reason for that.
There is a lot more going on than that comment. Sadly not for the first time, many Elphaba's have been trolled terribly by people who claim to be fans of the show.
Whether they do this for attention I do not know. Lucie has always made herself very accessible to her fans on social media and in real life. She is lovely and friendly at stage door. It saddens me that this is never enough for some people.

The problem would disappear if producers were more upfront about it. I don’t mean divulging reasons for absence but where it’s apparent that a full week isn’t possible then establish what is possible and tell customers. For example xxxx will play Elphaba on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evenings. Remaining performances will be shared by yyyy and zzzz. That doesn’t mean xxxx can’t ever be unexpectedly off sick on a Wednesday night but it does set a reasonable expectation for all concerned.

I haven’t followed her career too closely but I think she was pretty consistent in Waitress? I think maybe Elphaba is just too much for her voice 8 times a week. I remember Louise Dearman was off quite a bit but it was never this much. Who knows, there may be other reasons, don’t want to speculate too much. I’m not an avid Wicked follower so can’t really speak on that, but I was an avid Waitress follower during the London run, and honestly, Lucie had a lot of Waitress absences too. So I don’t think her Wicked absences can be down to solely the rigours of Elphaba. Although Jenna isn’t a cake walk either. I just think she’s generally unreliable as a performer.

She was never scheduled to be on at matinées for Waitress if I remember rightly and it was advertised as such.

She was never scheduled to be on at matinées for Waitress if I remember rightly and it was advertised as such. I don’t remember that being the case (but not to say she wasn’t!) but just generally she was off a lot. Some of it was illness and some of it scheduled days off I think, and some of it who knows. Just a quick look at the understudies twitter account and both Sarah and Olivia played Jenna quite a lot during Lucie’s run (which was shortened by Sara joining), and also Desi when she had to emergency cover for a week! I’m not ragging on Lucie btw (and I certainly don’t think people should be calling her out directly on social media) but she just isn’t a performer I would ever bet much money on being on, lol!

Having said, when she is on, she’s really fantastic as Elphaba. I saw her back in August and really enjoyed her portrayal.
I’m going tomorrow night so let’s see who’s on!

Really? I am sure that was the case on tour or perhaps my memory playing tricks. Apologies if so.

No she did 8 shows a week as Jenna, or in theory was meant to. There was no alternate situation.

Lucie was no Patti LuPone attendance-wise at Waitress but also she was nowhere near as “unreliable” as at Wicked. She did have a fair few absences and of course those 2 weeks that Desi had to cover at the end but in general her attendance was fine. As people have said, she seems to have never managed a full week of shows at Wicked. On tour with Waitress I remember Aimée Fisher didn’t debut until Manchester which was about 2.5 months into the tour and Lucie’s second to last venue so her attendance there was very good.

I definitely saw Kat McPhee and Lucie at the two matinees that I attended, so it definitely wasn’t a ‘thing’.

She officially left April 2022 but was back in August, September and probably some other dates I have forgotten:D
Also a fan of hers; she is great.

How was Lucie’s attendance during Legally Blonde? Another huge role that requires athletic stamina to achieve

I assume then all 4 Glinda covers are ill/ holiday. First time seeing Amy tonight. Was kind of hoping Nicola might be on but saw Laura was back so that definitely wasn’t happening. I enjoyed her portrayal. It wasn’t awful and it also wasn’t groundbreaking. Given that she’s been ill she held her own vocally I have to say. Don’t have anything really to say about Ryan. I’m looking forward to seeing Ross Harmon and hopefully want to catch him as Fiyero. I remember him from years ago from the little day seating circle from back in the day. What a full circle moment for him.

I felt like it took Amy until act 2 to really warm up… she was kind of just saying the lines for most of act 1 and she was singing quite flat during both DG and NGD. But like you said she’s been ill so probably still recovering. I need to check the actresses name but Madame Morrible was fabulous!

Blows my mind when ex cast members return to a role after not playing it for years/month.
So blooming talented!

Blows my mind when ex cast members return to a role after not playing it for years/month. So blooming talented! It's impressive and of course always exciting, but is it actually fair on anyone? Presumably they won't have rehearsed with the current cast, are they currently 'fit' vocally, etc.? It's impressive they can just slot in but I don't think they should have to. I doubt the average audience member would notice anything so perhaps I'm being picky here, but have they paid to have someone just 'pop in' who hasn't played it in months?

The audience would be 99% your average audience member so if it's between that option and therefore no one really knowing any different or cancelling the performance I think it's obvious which one they'd go for? Also, no one is forcing someone to say yes to do it.

To clarify: I think it’s incredible how they do it but I agree cezbear; it’s not fair. Looking at Paul Taylor Mills and Heathers…

Amy Webb & Carina tonight!
Also thought I’d mention as it’s quite funny
People saying to people being rude to lucie which I don’t agree with anyway but just thought it was funny that most responses were “how about you try doing 8 shows a week”
I just find that funny as lucie never does 8 shows a week, I believe so far in her run she’s done about three 😂
