Leslie Grantham has sadly passed away aged 71. RIP
He certainly provided some great TV moments. Though I doubt nothing will beat the famous Xmas EE with the divorce papers ending. Eastenders at its best.

Sad news. Saw him onstage locally in an adaptation of Porridge I enjoyed a lot. Plus I don't know how many other people watched it, but I remember the gameshow Fort Boyard he used to co host as one of my favourite things on telly as a kid, he brought such menace to it. Geoffrey Bayldon was also particularly good value as the mad professor.

I didn’t realise it until now, his first tv appearance according to internet sources was in the 1980s DR WHO serial Resurrection of the Daleks. I always thought he had done other tv work prior to that before going into EE. He really did do a good job as a baddie in DW.

His Dr Who clip was showed a lot on those "Before they were famous" type shows. He did a few other things before that too.

I think he realised he was lucky to get a 2nd chance in life as he could have served a much longer sentence especially in those days.

I was shocked to read he was a murderer and had been in prison for a decade!
