Comfortable Seats

The Prince of Wales Theatre in London has probably the most comfortable seats I've ever put my butt on.

Never had a particularly bad one, except the Southampton Mayflower Grand Circle.

The Other Palace has a bad rep but I’ve always found them perfectly comfy.

In terms of regional venues, the Birmingham Hippodrome has really comfortable seats and I don’t think any of them have leg room issues. I’ve sat in the back row of the stalls and circle and both have been very comfortable (may not be wise to take my word on the leg room though as I am quite short)

I sat in the front row at Woking once and it wasn’t very comfortable due to the angle of the rows meaning two sets of legs had to share one space (hard to explain).

Depending who’s involved that could be an added bonus

If he can get the seating improved in Trafalgar studios I might go back (and eat my hat).

I find the seats at Leicester square theatre downstairs are very comfy for a cheap venue. Agree on prince of wales and have had luck at the coliseum.

I’ve never tried one but the “bonkettes” at the REX look terrible. You’re virtually sat in the floor you’re so low. And the high chair-stools they have on the last two rows of stage level... 😖. I inadvertently found myself in one last week and it was hideous. Thank god it was quiet and I could move at the interval. But apart from those two extremes the stage level seats at the Rex are pretty comfy.

Most comfortable seats....

It's an opera house and it's abroad but I'd have to say the Deutsche Oper, Berlin. I mention this because it's the only house I've been to which is so proud of its seats that you could try them out in the foyer before the performance, and even look through a cross-section of one. Club class throughout the house. The ROH on the other hand offers a dazzling array of uncomfortable ache-inducing seats with no room and restricted views. The best places here, outside the Grand Tier (so much legroom) and parts of the balcony, are the good standing positions. When the ROH was rebuilt around 1999, I don't think they did anything to improve seat comfort (apart from replacing the old seats).

Agree on the Prince of Wales. Some of the seats are spacious enough to place a small bag beside me.

Not really any WE theatres spring to mind; which is saying something. Adelphi stalls have nice comfy seats.

Recently was in the Lyttleton for the first time a few weeks ago- what a dream! Couldn't believe how wide the seats were, and how much legroom I had!

One of the worst seats was front row at the Queens- I think my bum went num around I dreamed a dream. Never again! Although not banking on CamMac on making this there *too* comfy, if the VP is anything to go by, brace yourselves.
