I had the Samsung S4 Mini a few years ago and it was the worst piece of rubbish I ever had. Seriously a couple of yoghurt pots tied together with string would have been more effective as a phone. It put me off Samsung phones for life. I would have preferred a new HTC but they just weren’t offering any anywhere at the time I needed to upgrade.
I used to be with Virgin Mobile and was held ransom to choose whatever handset their contracts allowed at the time of my renewal. I never thought of getting an iPhone because of the cost, but after 16 years of crappy service with with Virgin I had enough and went SIM-only with another provider, then bought an iPhone. 3 years into an iPhone 6 and it’s just fine. No real issues, plus it make sense as I’ve had an iMac for the last 10 years and it’s all compatible.

I had one of those and it lasted me over 4 years without any problems - the phone shop I went to to get a replacement when it did finally pack in was astonished it had lasted that long! I've never had trouble with Samsung.

I went from a really old Samsung to an iPhone 4s years ago and absolutely loved the iPhone at the time. However I just couldn't justify the price of the iPhone when it came around to upgrading so I switched back to Samsung (although admittedly I don't think the prices are much different these days). Now you couldn't even pay me to have anything different. I find them a lot clearer and easier to use, they look nice, always been reliable for me (touch wood) and the added bonus of being able to put an sd card in to expand the memory is a massive bonus for me. But everyone has a personal preference.

The only Apple I'd ever consider buying is a Pink Lady.

The only Apple I'd ever consider buying is a Pink Lady. Amazing. That is my favourite type of apple!

I have a mobile phone which makes calls, sends texts and so forth. Who makes it is of as little interest to me as who made my kettle or my electric toothbrush. It is just one more instrument.
