Still quite a way away, but it's just been announced in the last couple of hours that Billy Elliot - The Musical is slated to return to tour Australia in 2019 / 2020. The last time it played Down Under, it only went to Sydney and Melbourne. This time though, Perth, Brisbane, and Adelaide have also been added to the tour schedule.

Went to the matinee today - and although it’s only been 4.5 years since I last saw it, there was so much nostalgia. Pretty much as I remembered it from the West End but without the revolving bedroom or traps.
The three hour runtime flies by. Solidarity still one of the best musical numbers in any musical. I never thought I’d get to see this show again so when I saw it was playing I was so happy.

Wade Neilsen played Billy and he was a true triple threat - perfect. Accents were surprisingly good for the most part - give or take a detour to Scotland and Liverpool on one or two occasions.

If you get the chance to then go! I know they say it’s unlikely we will ever get it back in the UK - but I will remain hopeful!
