Yeay, snow days!
How are you all spending your days barricaded at home?! I’ve got my work laptop on, BBC news and a big pot of coffee. It’s definitely a comfort food type of day too I think!

Our main roads are reasonably clear so I got to work this morning only ten minutes late, but I suspect the office will remain fairly quiet today, and I wouldn't be surprised if the higher-ups decided to kick us out early. I'm very glad I live within walking distance, 'cos the buses are running now but the snow is still falling...

Currently no buses are running their services in Edinburgh apart from the Airport bus.

It wasn’t all that bad at half 5 this morning so I managed to drive to work quite easily, it has however snowed constantly since. Luckily I only live around a 10 minute drive from work so getting home shouldn’t be much of an issue. Looks like I’m going to have to cancel my plans to see Wicked in Bristol tonight, there’s no way I can honestly say I’ll make it there and back safely if at all. Hopefully I can at least wriggle a refund out of ATG

An outdoor pipe burst outside the kitchen yesterday. We've had to turn the water off. Even though we are covered by British Gas HomeCare plan, British Gas's website seems to have crashed so can't book an appointment for a repair and the switchboard doesn't appear to be answering calls. Sorry to turn a theatre board into a rant but you did ask.

I'm currently at my desk because London transport (for the most part) is sadly still working...
No snow day for me - though even if there was I'd be working for home, no chance of a day off!

You know it's bad when the Baslow Women's Institute jumble sale has already been cancelled, and it's not until Saturday. At this very moment, Gary Barlow is writing a musical about it!!

It's freezing cold in my hotel room in London so I'm currently sitting on the floor, hugging the heater. I'll need to leave soon though - "The Grinning Man" awaits... Don't care too much about snow - for us in Central Europe it's not a rare delight in March. I just hope I will be able to fly home on Saturday morning without any adventures.

My show is in tech so no snow day for me. Took an extra half hour to get in but still made it on time.

Am already looking at tickets for the Wimbledon run! Ooof! I was very nearly going tonight, but had to switch to Tuesday. Sorry to hear that (though probably best given the snow is supposed to hit us about 3 now) We closed at 12, which involved a lot of ringing and rescheduling (luckily 99.9% of appointments understood and didn't want to come out anyway). I had tomorrow off anyway so plan to hibernate. Meanwhile current dog-sitting charge had never seen snow and took SOME convincing to go out in it...

No such thing as a snow day (or night) for me . Working in a hospital means I have no choice but to go to work. I dread having to stay there at the end of a 12 hour shift , because I can’t risk trying to get home and not being able to get back for my next shift . I’ve ended up sleeping on the floor in a meeting room a few times. I feel sorry for, and admire my colleagues who have children when the schools are closed. Very difficult to make arrangements for children, and turn up for work as expected .

The outflow from my bath is frozen up, thanks to a dripping tap and some installer from decades ago who routed the pipe outside at a gradient so shallow that it's barely perceptible. Half an hour up a ladder pouring warm water on the pipe didn't fix things so I guess it'll stay that way until the temperature gets above freezing.
On the positive side, I'm getting good at balancing a hot water bottle on my feet.

I've been working in outpatient admin so at least we had the "luxury" of cancelling non-urgent appointments so paitents and staff can a) stay safe b) be diverted to urgent areas. Luckily also a number of support staff live in walking distance and have been taking the brunt of shifts for those who don't. But good luck to all our emergency services and medical teams in the next few days.

Oh you do see some stuff being off work! Now, I'm not normally one to point out things that humiliate people. But this one's a classic.
I've discovered a quiz show called Tenable - quite fun - contestants have to name 10 things in various categories and Warwick Davis is presiding. Today's team have to name the 10 most performed operas in 2016. They are members of an operatic society so are spoilt for choice as to which team member they choose to answer this. What a gift eh?
So the first 'opera' he picks is......Phantom of the Opera. Nerves? No, because what does he pick for his second go? Only bloomin' Cats!
Anyway. That's it - 2 wrong and you get sent to some underground vault or something. Almost makes you want to go back to work!

I've had to cancel my trip to see Giselle at the ROH tonight as I may have got to London alright but I didn't want to risk the return train being cancelled as heavier snow is forecast for tonight. Luckily the Opera House will take an email for a return ticket so I have managed to sell it.

I walked to work yesterday but we shut at lunchtime. I came home and crocheted for the afternoon. Today we're shut again so I had a lovely long lie in and then walked to Sainbury's (about an hour and half there and back) and I tried to make a snowman. It's the wrong sort of snow though so I only managed a waist high cone shape. I don't have to go out again now and we're closed tomorrow, so I might binge watch the whole of Trapped tomorrow - the Icelandic murder thing that was on a year or two ago. I got the DVD for Christmas and I think I'm in the mood for something grim and snowy.
I'm meant to be going to see Frost/Nixon on Saturday though, so the snow had better clear!
