Ok before some of us totally derail the Moderate Soprano thread...
If you were to go and meet your maker during/at the theatre
1. Which theatre 2. What show
Bonus points for which actor/AD/hot usher you'd spend eternity haunting...

(Please note I'm coming at this from the perspective of "which theatre would I most like to become the resident ghost of".) I'm very concerned with theatrical turnover, so my first choice is the National, assuming I have enough freedom of movement to visit all three auditoria (and whatever temporary spaces they open up around the edges of the building), and my second choice is the Globe. I just want to know that my ghost has plenty of variety to be watching.
I don't know what show I'd ideally like to depart during, but I think it should be something high-profile and hotly-anticipated, if only to make it as a footnote in The Stage.
As for who I'd haunt, I'd quite like to be one of those ghosts whose appearances are considered a good omen. I'd only make myself known in front of promising young actors (the Patsy Ferrans, the Joshua Jameses, etc), and everyone would tell them "that's a good omen, the Red Lady (or whatever) only appears to actors who she *really* likes", and maybe every press night the theatre would leave the seat I died in symbolically unsold out of respect (though it's not really a big deal if someone ends up occupying it by mistake or as a self-upgrade, I'm not expecting to be the Phantom of the Opera or anything).

If I have to 'go' now, I would definitely want to go at the end of 42nd Street, with so much joy and happiness in my heart.
Choosing a theatre is somewhat harder. I would certainly not want to 'go' in an ATG theatre. They'd want to charge my estate all kinds of extras!

I suppose if I had met my maker during Mr Burns I could have asked him/her what the f*ck that was all about.
It's a bit late to haunt a theatre - I already haunt this board........

I'm with @baemax haunting the NT. Assuming as a ghost one gets the run of the building you'd at least always be kept entertained with the variety. Also I don't think they have a ghost yet, so that'd be cool.
Also it's probably wise to pick a 'hot young thing' to haunt, just for longevity of haunting surely?
But production wise. I guess I'd prefer a musical, because a least it'd be something jolly to see you on the way. Unless it was Rent and you were saying 'Wait that Mimi gets to live and I DON'T?!'

I'm surprised no one (@ryan) has mentioned haunting the dressing rooms...

I'm surprised no one (@ryan ) has mentioned haunting the dressing rooms... Give him a chance it takes a while to compile a list that long...

I'd go (loudly and with much dramatic effect) at The Nash. I'll continue to haunt it (and my nemesis Rufus) and my ghost will often be seen floating in and out of dressing rooms but only the ones with the (hot) mens in them and the bars. And perhaps across one of the stages to liven up a dull show every now and again.
I couldn't think of anything worse than dying quietly during a show. I want to go loudly during something with Imelda Staunton in it, rattling ice cubes in a glass cup as I go. Take that Staunton.
I rather like @baemax 's idea of being a good omen exposing oneself to hot young actors (the mens). And I'd be rather thrilled to have my death seat set aside in reverence. But I'd be just as happy if people wanted to sit on me it too. Just the mens though. Natch.

I imagine restraining orders still apply in the afterlife @ryan, if you start groping Jonny B as a ghost, I’m sure they’ll hire an exorcist!!!

Gosh can you imagine Imelda if someone popped their clogs during a show? She’d be LIVID at the disruption

Am I the only one who thought someone had resurrected an old thread on Useful toilets in Central London, or something like that..?

First of all, if I am going to meet my maker, I'd better make some apologies and revise my opinions very quickly!!!!
There is a moment in Sunset Boulevard where Norma takes a soaring note during "As if we never said goodbye" and I usually close my eyes to enjoy the moment. If I were to choose, my eyes would remain shut and that would be the moment of my passing.
Now, if Ms Clark were playing Norma at the Adelphi, I would be double happy. I know now that time has passed too far for that to happen and please, no snidey comments about your near death experience when various Norma's perform. This is my demise, so let me enjoy it.

I've given this some thought (probably far too much!) and I think I've made a decision.
I'm at my happiest when I'm beside the seaside anyway, so it wouldn't be a hardship, but if I were to haunt the Futurist Theatre in Scarborough, then maybe, just maybe, I could stop its demolition by scaring the beejesus out of the workers.

Mines a bit more general and random but I would want to die while in the audience watching an NT live. Especially one where they would ffilm the audience a bit as I just think it would be very darkly funny but dont know which show.As for haunting the national theatre that would be brilliant but would it be too good as there is so much to see. And yes maybe I am morbid and a bit vain to want my last moments to be broadcast but who knows they might name a theatre after me for being such an important part of the NT history.

I’ll go during any show at the Royal Court as the event will probably be seen as part of an experimental performance. In my opinion ghosts should always haunt the Artistic Director, giving advice and getting involved if that advice is not taken by messing around during performances - throwing props around and meddling with sound and lighting cues.
