Well, it don't come easy as they'd often passed him by but then we never know what goes on, but he's finally made it with a little help from his friends. Now he can swap the Octopus's Garden for the Palace Gardens, it will be a nice photograph and I am sure he'll act naturally. Anyone who has a problem with it can back off, boogaloo.
Goodnight.

In honour of showgirl, who is this Dingo Starr? Was he the one who stole Meryl Streep's baby?

Well all I can say as a fellow scouser is about time! Although at the moment I seem to be hearing about this eight days a week. At least her Majesty will be able to say From me to you although Ringo will not be able to hold her hand on his day tripper to the palace.

Further recognition for Ringo apart from an MBE in 1965 was long overdue.

Heavens, they'll give a knighthood to anyone nowadays. All for voicing Thomas the Tank Engine. They didn't give Kenneth Williams a knighthood for Willo the Wisp.

Well, I am happy for him. But when asked was Ringo Starr the best drummer in the world, John Lennon famously replied: "He's not even the best drummer in the band!" Is that true or an urban myth? Never mind. As Ryan rightly says: "They'll give a knighthood to anyone nowadays" so Ringo might as well have one, even though he didn't win any medals at sport or appearing in a much-loved TV soap.

I think it is being given for music and charity and as part of the most successful music group there will ever be I don't think we should br=egrudge him it.

Petula was made a CBE in 1998 but her Damehood is long overdue as she recently turned 85 years old.
Ringo was never the greatest drummer but he was a Beatle and deserves further recognition. As regards the autograph thing, Ringo was one of the best signers for years and always replied to through the mail requests but when he saw them all being sold on E-Bay he decided to stop signing. He occasionally signs stuff for charities or sells signed drum skins for charity at his concerts.
Kenneth Williams would surely have got recognition if he had lived too.

Don't know if it was ever said but it has been mentioned that Paul McCartney was actually a very good drummer and has played drums on a couple of his own records so that may be where the story came from.
