The audience were very unnecessarily noisy and should be told to be quiet! Absolutely! But it's not going to happen. When we were freezing our gateaux off at the dress rehearsal (which was also running about 3 hours late) they actually re-shot several bits because we didn't whoop loudly enough. Mini Tibs was losing her voice as she was already unwell and when I suggested she shouldn't holler so loud she said that she wanted to get the heck out so better to yell than wait for the camera to set up for a re-take. They were actually getting annoyed with us for not cheering, or cheering at the wrong time. We'd been told that Holly wasn't there. They explained that Phil and Holly's stand-in, Rory, would walk out and we should give them a loud welcome. Phil came out actually with Holly (who left shortly after) so a loud cheer did go up as we were pleased to get to see her. Trouble was, we were supposed to have waited until they got to the top of the white carpet, not cheer the minute we saw them appear from backstage. However, no one had actually explained this to us. So they had to shoot it again, after admonishing us for getting it wrong. I learnt some flowery new words from the very peed-off lady behind me! And they could say what they liked, but there was no way on this earth I was cheering Anthony Cotton. He got a Kidman clap from me and nothing more.

Anthony Cotton - yes the sooner he is voted off the better the show will be too!

I’m not getting this competition. The ones the judges don’t like look ok to me and the ones they like I don’t rate much. I thought Perri was great and Donna was stiff and awkward. If you can do those moves then you can do em on any surface, Jake. Oh well. I’m not judge. But when I do watch the pros in the dance championships when I can find them on the telly my opinion isn’t that far off.

I’m def missing something. Perri is through but she had changed dress anyway so wasn’t going to skate the same dance was she?

lynette , maybe you shouldn't have taken both tablets at the same time? I completely agree with you however! I have no idea why they marked Jake or Kem so high (or Antony so low - even though I can't stand him!) I hope Max's pro sorts it out for next week as there were far too many tricks and could someone please, please gag that girl with the Starship Trooper hair. Whatever they are paying her pro it cannot possibly be enough. I thought they were harsh on Lemar's pro, even though I completely agreed with them. I liked Donna but have no idea why she got such high marks either. I liked Perri and thought she looked amazing. Betsy Mead in the audience. Cute.

OK...note to self - to join the millions of other viewers who have stopped watching this show!
The only positive I could say about tonight was that at least all 11 couples skated in 2 hours rather than just 6 in the previous two weeks which just showed how padded out those shows were. So at least there was more content and less padding from the backstage area.
However, it is astonishing that for the money that has no doubt been lavished on the series it manages to look so cheap!
The opening professional skaters routine was completely covered in dry ice so you could not see the skates!
The camera shots seem to miss vital bits of the routines!
It all looks under rehearsed and I am not just talking about the contestants.
T&D are missed on the ice and as they have understandably this telepathy they will agree on everything - so there is no jeopardy in the skate off as to who will leave as they hold the power having the casting vote every week, leaving Jason and Ashley redundant - a major format error.
As ever with these shows it is all about the casting and some of these "celebs" are frankly unlikeable and there is zero chemistry with their pro skating partners.
Such a missed opportunity really for ITV to have its own version of Strictly with the added jeopardy of someone falling over live on TV, but it is so poorly produced.

I keep trying with this, but it's just lacking something. Doesn't help that I haven't heard of most of the 'celebrities', but I suppose that's inevitable as time goes on and they run out of people who'll be willing to do it. I've never been bored with this show before, but it's just a bit dull.
Also doesn't help that I've detested Donna Air since her Byker Grove days, old grudge due to her behaviour toward friends on set. When she goes I might be more charitable toward the whole thing!

I'm really not enjoying this series at all. As much as I wished it had continued to run when it first stopped four years ago, I now wish they'd just left it and didn't revive the show. Hate to say it but I really don't like T&D as judges, something just doesn't sit right for me. And as for the skate off I agree with wickedgrin you may as well not even bother asking Jason and Ashley to vote as T&D will just agree with one another anyway.

I agree I don't like torvill & Dean as Judges, i prefer Karen and Robin and them doing Choreography for the pro's. I felt sorry for Max his pro went way to advance for week 2 as he a talented skater.
Also what I didn't agree with the skate off result. As much as it pained me to say this but i totally agree with Jason. We should be voting what we see in the skate off and not there previous performance. Why i felt lemar did a slightly better performance he did slip. Steph did the routine with a clean sheet !! Previous series this would cost the celeb/pro but doesn't seem this way!!
What is with the Old pro's being voted off 1st Matt now Sylvan?

I've just seen an advert for the tour on the side of a bus. It's being sold as Torvill and Dean's Dancing on Ice.

Yes, I understand they are actually skating on the tour. I suppose they need to shift tickets....I can't see this crop of celebs selling very many.

When you've grown up with them, it's all too easy to forget that Torvill is already 60, and Dean isn't far behind. Good Nottinghamshire water, that's what it is!

I miss Robin as a judge more than I’d ever care to admit. I don’t often find myself agreeing with Jason but I do agree with what he said regarding the skate off. It should entirely be based on that performance, what’s the point in having a skate off if they’re going to base their decision on all the previous skates?

^But it was only a tiny stumble and after he'd executed 2 mini-jumps and a one-footed turn if I remember rightly, so his difficulty factor was probably higher? Who knows?! There are obvious differences between the skating judges and the dancing judges and I actually quite like that as it adds a bit of frission.
I miss Robin too. It's often forgotten how amazing he was in the shadow of T&D - his jumps were astonishing.
However, there is some dross that needs to GO! I cannot believe the calibre of zelebs - did they learn nothing from the demise of the show before? And having 4 minutes to vote so we don't watch on catch-up doesn't work when no one gives a flying fandangle about most of them.
On another note entirely. Many years ago my lovely grandmother mislaid all the old sweet wrappers she'd saved and glued together.....oh, but you all know where I'm going with this.....😁

What's the point in the public not voting for someone only for the judges to put them back in week after week. Makes the public vote a bit redundant.

It’s like Fame Academy all over again.
Cheryl is giving all the youngsters a lesson in performance even if her improvements are slight.

There is something fundamentally wrong with this show. Hard to put your finger on it. It might be the very slow, slow way it is presented with the ad breaks and the chit chat. It might be the poor camera work on the ice. Compare the way ice dancing is filmed in the championships, forthcoming Olympics for example. It might be the lack of background to the performers. Compare Strictly's way of dragging in even the non believers. Are the presenters not really engaged in the process. Is the actual ice dancing just crap?

Previous series's were good but this one is so boring. It doesn't help that of the 12 "stars" [ & I use the term lightly] I've only heard of 4 of them.

Its got ITV tack-o-rama written all over it. I don’t care how much money they have or haven’t thrown at it, it looks and feels cheap and nasty.

Although compared to some of the other dross on tv , such as 'celebrity' big brother it is very high brow!I admit its not as good as previous series but in the absence of strictly it will do for now!
