Arts again in Jan! Open ended!!!! Just announced.
I must say i don't mind The Arts, i don't have much of a problem with it. Yes it's all pretty shabby but i tend to think that they programme a lot of shows that sort of fit that kind of experience. For this for example, i think it fits a kind of intimate basement club type feel which the Arts does provide.
That said seriously surely it doesn't cost the earth to give it a lick of paint and do some basic repairs? Plus Theatre Royal Drury Lane are literally giving seats away....

Great news. I’m quite glad it’s going back to the Arts, it fits the venue well both in terms of staging and audience numbers.

Open ended run, with initial booking period from January 16th to May 5th. Amazing. So glad to hear it doing so well!

I rather like the Arts Theatre. It reminds me of a misspent youth at University frequenting various none-too salubrious drinking establishments.

Lucky you seeing today’s Mat. Show stopped after 35 mins tonight. No restart. Technical issue. They said serious so could not start. Someone in audience was saying one of the girls was ill but they all looked ok to me and I think there is an understudy isn’t there ? Anyone know anything? I’ll rebook for Jan now. I really liked what I saw. It was stopped just before end of Holbein number and actually not waiting for the actual end of it.

Apparently one of the technical team or engineers got quite badly electrocuted and they were waiting for an ambulance.

O how dreadful. Well the assistant stage manager , if it were she, who came on, did well to cover that.

Yes there's one understudy so she must have been ill also or it was a problem with the set/sound/lighting instead.

It just occurred to me that Get Down (which I thought was the best part of the show) is a nod to Iggy Azalea's Fancy.

Ok, so daughter thinks all the songs are shout-outs/inspired by other artists: But she can't place them all. So far, she (we) thinks: Don't Lose Ur Head - Taylor Swift Heart of Stone - Adele Get Down - Beyoncé (although I think more Janet Jackson); All You Wanna Do - Britney Spears I Don't Need Your Love - Whitney Houston Now, of course, we are coming from an American vantage point - so there may be other inspirations.

There was an interview with the writers the other day on the BBC website which said Don't Lose Your Head was inspired by Lily Allen. Ariana Grande and Rihanna were among the other inspirations apparently! www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/newsbeat-45739935

In the programme there's a section about the history of the Queens as well as musical inspo. If someone else doesn't beat me to it, I'll share them when home!

Ooh, have they got a proper programme now? That's good, the one in Cambridge was just a double sided A4 card.

Not that this would necessarily mean much to UK - but Seth Rudetsky's show on SiriusXM's (satellite radio) Broadway channel just praised Six and is hoping to start playing it on SiriusXM. So, we won't be the only ones in the US obsessing over the show.
Further aside, spouse's trip to Switzerland is 19-20 January, but she teaches late into the evening on Wednesdays -so trying to stop off in London in time to see Six and (a) get to her conference Saturday morning and get back to the States to teach the next Wednesday does not have a simple logistical solution - unless someone has a private jet (and pilot) she can use! But, she's working on it. Our next scheduled trip to the UK is late June - so if Six extends, we will have a chance then.

Well well well, this is genius isn't it? I bloody loved the cast recording and I'm gutted I'm missing this by just a few days.
I still might have a chance to see it next year when it comes back to the Arts though.

Alexia McIntosh (Cleves in the London/UK tour production) hinted that this cast could possibly release a live recording in the new year when it does its open London run.
Despite it returning to London, I’m really really really *really* hoping we will have another production of Six at the Edinburgh Fringe next year. I’m seeing it again in Glasgow in December but after that I’m not sure. Please Marlow & Moss, return to the best city in the world! (Edinburgh for those who didn’t already know)

Btw is this really a musical though? Based on what I've seen it looks more like a concert. So it would fall under the 'entertainment' category right? Kind of like Five Guys Named Moe last year.

It's a pop musical in concert form. But I don't believe the theatre is eligable anymore for the Oliviers, so the girls or the show can't be nominated. Unless I'm wrong haha.
