Not all the cast are transferring. Not a happy company! Is it transferring? And who isn't going with them? What's the source for this? Don't you think, if I could say, I would say? And McCabe may be the star attraction, but be prepared to see his understudy...

Painless members booking this morning. You cannot select your seat for the Gielgud. Premium price offered me row G seats and the second price row E. Gave me two seats towards the side E4 and 5 initially. I held these seats and asked for two more and was given E18 and 19 which are a bit more central. I was then able to discard 4 and 5.
Also was able to grab a bargain £8 centre front for R&J at the Barbican.

I went for row V stalls for £49-reduced-to-£39-for-booking-both. It was only offering me £10 seats in the very back row of he Upper Circle, which did not seem like a good deal.

In Stratford On Avon for another play & was interested to see the playscripts for this reduced to £2.50. Productions not previously on my radar (haven't read the books & not my favourite historical period), but bought a copy.
However, belatedly catching up with this thread shows I'm unlikely to be able to afford tickets for the London transfer - unless I settle for the upper circle edges/slips. Or unless they do day seats, but I can find no info about any. I suppose once the Stratford run had ended the RSC thought demand there for the playscripts would fall, hence the bargain price. At least I can read those in case I get to see the transfer!

TodayTix is doing £25 daily rush tickets for both parts. They also have for part 1 top price non-premium stalls seats for £28 for the next 30 days if you want to book ahead.

Didn't fancy the front row or the Todaytix Rush options (too far back), but was delighted to get stalls row H from the Box Office for part one at the day seat price. I'll be lucky to match that for part two & matineeS of that are very few anyway.

I enjoyed this, thought it was a very good and solid production with some great performances.
I've never seen the Gielgud theatre so empty though. For part one it was just about 50% full, maybe less, the Upper Circle was open with just a few people in. We were in the Dress Circle in the same row as Andrew Marr.
For part two it was really empty, the Upper Circle was closed and the other two levels were very empty, probably no more than 300 in total.
A real pity as it's is really enjoyable.

For reference: Centre stalls F to K and Dress A and B £99.50. Stalls £69.50, £49.50 from U, back row £29.50. Dress circle £69.50, slips not on sale yet. Upper Circle A to C centre £49.50, sides £10. D to H centre £29.50, sides £10. Slips £10. £10 per ticket off £99.50, £69.50, £49.50 if you book for both parts in a single transaction. I wonder how many people seeing this paid the prices as listed above ? The RSC simply can't sustain those prices for any main house show in London these days. It would have been better for everyone if they'd priced this correctly in the first place.

These pig sh*t thick producers
Transferring what is really a niche show
With no major names as far as your average theatre goer is concerned
Lasting over 7 hours
From a theatre of well under 500 seats
To one with a capacity of nearly 1000
With many seats which will be uncomfortable
It is any surprise
Yet again producers bastardise pollute and ruin wonderful shows
By removing them from Their context and forcing them into theatres which are totally not designed for the show
Whilst we are on the subject I predict the same fate for:
Caroline or change Don Quixote Nine Night The Inheritance And (if it transfers) Fun Home
None Of these will be anything near a hot ticket
We already saw it with Quiz
Where the stalls were half full with the upper two levels closed
Red is another example Doesn’t belong in a main WE house
It’s amazing These shows which are “sell outs”
Move to the west end And suddenly no one wants to see them They seem a lot less glamorous and desirable
And it’s not as if people don’t notice the half empty theatre It’s glaring obvious
Bizarre choices
I think there are too many theatres in the west end by far
The fact that most of the shows in them are half empty And that these are “transfers of sell out shows”
Is telling
What goes through the mind of a producer When making these decisions Are they so stupid Or are they that greedy Or just so arrogant?
Why don’t they realise Context is half the key to success
Just see Leave Taking
Rave reviews
Less than half full the day I went
This is due to the venue
If it was staged at Dorfman
It would have sold out
The choice of venue is so key to the success of almost shows
I don’t understand why producers keep ignoring it
