Yes, such a shame it's a compulsory watch and poor old Someone in a tree is going to be mercilessly forced to sit through it.

Yawn. Same old format. Yawn. How very dare you Sir. I can take some criticism but not of Mischief Theatre. The cheek of it.

*gasp* And one for you too. And for anyone else that wants to criticise Mischief Theatre, get in line people. I'm on a sloe gin buzz and I'm giving out slaps and hugs. I'm all out of hugs.

Mischief are in my 'would watch them read the phone book' category so this has shot to number one on my Christmas viewing.

Perhaps it's been rushed into the schedule to replace the Agatha Christie they dropped

I was one of their biggest fans and one of those who genuinely did see The Play that Goes Wrong above the Old Red Lion (and the two subsequent residencies they've had) but its the same thing over and other ago now with just different costumes.
The Comedy about a Bank Robbery was funny (though not as funny as TPTGW) when it came out but even that - and I saw it twice almost a couple of years apart - looks stale now.
Maybe this is the limit for those involved in Mischief but I genuinely believe that although none of the original cast have what it takes to be considered amazing actors, they are talented enough to get significant roles in decent comedies.

Salford is a beautiful city on the other side of the river Irwell from Manchester. You can get to Media City on the tram (Eccles or Media city route), or get the Stagecoach bus (50 route). if you want to visit the Lowry theatre it's next door. As for how you sneak in? Sorry, can't help you!

Salford is a beautiful city on the other side of the river Irwell from Manchester. I'm a southerner. I do know Salford's somewhere near Manchester but then I spent years thinking Manchester was next to Birmingham... Seriously, if anyone sees anything about whether any tickets will be publically available do post. I've checked the BBC's tickets page & nothing so far. Given it'll surely be filmed within the next month; I'm wondering if it'll be invite only.

Look on the BBC Audience page as the opportunity may come up to get a ticket!
It will be filmed in the TV studios at Salford Quays, Salford is a city adjoining Manchester. Salford Quays is gorgeous. Some nice bars, the Lowry theatre and art gallery, Imperial War Museum North (although that's technically in Manchester, the two cities divided by the Manchester Ship Canal)... The ITV studios are also there now, where they film Coronation Street and many many more.

You can get to Media City on the tram from Manchester Piccadilly. Drops you right outside the studios and Lowry Theatre.

Given it's being filmed in TV studios rather than a theatre makes me wonder if there will be a live audience at all - no guarantee of it!

It's worth signing up for BBC 'Be in the audience' emails ssl.bbc.co.uk/showsandtours/mailinglist/ as these things sometimes do come up last minute. And as many have already said 'tis 'oop Norf' next to Manchester. Where a fair chunk of BBC and ITV actually reside now. (They can't have Doctor Who though we've got him held captive down here) ETA: I'm a firm believer also that a cheeky email never hurt anyone, and as such a supporter of their work Dawnstar it couldn't hurt to drop them a line an ask if public tickets might be available...info@mischieftheatre.co.uk you've got nothing to lose after all!

Thanks. I've just signed up. I hope I don't get bombarded with dozens of email about shows I'm not interested in. I've already checked the web page 3 times today, just in case! You certainly have & I gather he (now she?) is good for Cardiff tourism. I remember when I first visited Cardiff in 2010 coming across a memorial wall to Torchwood's Ianto in the bay area! I am thinking about trying that but I know with PPGW it was the BBC who did the ticket distribution rather than them, so I imagine it'll be the same this time.

Oh the Ianto Shrine is still going strong...for better or worse haha! I have mixed feelings about this shrine. Don't get me wrong, Ianto is my favourite Torchwood character, but after his death in Children of Earth I couldn't believe the nonsense that happened online! I wrote to the Torchwood magazine with a more measured point of view and they kindly printed my letter. I believe the shrine was raising money for charity which is a good thing, but I think to keep the shrine going is a tad silly now.

For those who haven't been obsessively checking the BBC's ticket website multiple times a day, ballot now open www.bbc.co.uk/showsandtours/shows/a_christmas_carol_2dec17Should anyone win & have any spare tickets I would be extremely interested. Obviously I've entered myself but, based on PPGW, the odds of any one person winning won't be great.
