I've not been able to watch many of the MMN in this block of shows but signed up for the full lot this weekend. The Trilogy Day film is turning out to be one of the best I've watched. Part 2 was just so funny with Henry Lewis's Morrisons comment and the complete breakdown of JS and the team at the end of the film. It's going to be a late night tonight, but totally worth it watching the final installment. Oh, Dawnstar, I hadn't heard of Duck, Duck, Goose before tonight either so I was none the wiser what it was all about.

Oh, Dawnstar , I hadn't heard of Duck, Duck, Goose before tonight either so I was none the wiser what it was all about. I looked it up. The going round a circle tapping people bit was accurate. The inclusion of a hand grenade was not!
Loved part 2. Oscar had his best meltdown yet! Loved some of the dialogue, especially: "I'm a haematologist" "That's fascinating.... What exactly is a haematologist?"
And: "Go inside. Look at the fresh vegetables." "Moderately fresh, yes."
The ending of part 2 was so perfect that it's kind of a pity that there's going to be a part 3.

Really enjoying tonight’s so far, though they seem to have already resolved most of the story. But at least it can’t end as badly as Sequel Sunday. I hope.🤞 Some of the humour tonight’s already been a little cheekier than usual so I’m looking forward to the later one. I always think Jonathan’s Oscar works best when he’s exasperated with the rest of them and has a bit of a rant. As much as I’ve enjoyed these, and I want it to come back, I also hope what Jonathan said about these being the last ones for quite a while is true. I don’t want the novelty to wear off from over exposure. Though it can’t be that long a break if they’re going to do some more in Regent’s Park in a few weeks. Anyway, I love how a show can trigger such a random discussion topic as Duck, Duck, Goose. I don’t think Dawnstar and david are alone in not having heard of Duck, Duck, Goose, since Harry (was it Harry?) introduced a hand grenade into it like it was Pass the Parcel, whereas it’s actually like tick. There’s an explanation here, complete with gif, if anyone actually still cares: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tag_(game)#Duck,_duck,_goose

Ashopalypse Then
Highlights: - Lawrence Dallaglio's rugby teammates - The time travel and Henry L shooting the manager of Waterstones and the police officer - Henry L: 'I control your p***s' - Dave as a talking caravan - Niall as Andrew Garfield as a pigeon - Sybil getting confused between a question and a picture - The tech team trying to end the movie after the happy birthday song
A really lovely end to a bonkers day. This, despite it being time travel, made more sense than the first 2 films combined, and a very nice happy end. I can't lie, I'll be sad when this run ends tomorrow evening, and really hope it comes back again at some point in the future, though I do appreciate it probably needs a break so everyone can do other things.

Yes, given how bonkers the 8pm show was I was expecting this to be even more anarchic but, apart from Henry L's trigger-happy scene, it wasn't. I was glad Oscar put his foot down & insisted the movie was fully resolved before it ended. We've already got the forever-unresolved Croydonosaurus without having another ambiguously-ending movie.

Final show of this run: The Day Harry Got Cut In Half - A pre-school magic show
Highlights: - The dinosaurs in the school production of Grease - The Scottish accents - some of which sounded suspiciously Welsh - Following on from yesterday, the cast are taking charge of flashbacks - Nancy trying to get out of rapping - Henry Lewis singing at the absolute top of his voice - Henry Shields break dancing/doing the worm - Harry Kershaw's break dancing attempt - Jonathan Sayer making his cameo as Reverend John - he is definitely the best male singer of the Mischief crew - Rhyanna making Harry corpse when his character had died - The harmonising mermaids - Henry Shields doing the moonwalk - and Jonathan rewinding and replaying it - Harry Kershaw forgetting which character he is (again)
Quite the movie to end the run on - chaotic for the most part, but some genuinely good bits. It was great to see Rhyanna in a leading role as she's mostly played supporting characters up to this point. I've enjoyed seeing even more actors get their chance this time round, albeit some in unfortunate circumstances. There've been quite a few memorable moments from this run - the lambs from Zoomania, the anarchy last night, the whole of Ipswich It Up, I could go on! Hopefully, they may do another run in the winter.

My heart sank at the pre-school part of the chosen suggestion, as I find the 6 year olds in Groan Ups more annoying than amusing, but fortunately there were only 2 child characters, & they acted more like 10 year olds than pre-schoolers, so it turned out better than I expected.

This one didn’t do much for me story-wise I’m afraid, so most of the fun for me was in seeing the cast gleefully setting each other up.

The only thing that I was really interested in plot-wise was whether Charlie's character & Henry S's character would get together. I can't say I was exactly that interested in whether a couple of 7 year olds would be able to do a magic show.

Dawnstar, I wished they had finished on the Triology day. For me it had everything I wanted to see in a MMN. A fun story with more adult humor and everyone completely losing it. A long day yesterday.but worth it. I admire anyone in the studio audience who did all 3 shows yesterday as well as all the cast. That takes some stamina to do that.

Yes, in hindsight that would probably have been best, but the problem with improv is you don't know several months in advance which will be the best shows!
Leaving this here in case anyone's interested & hasn't already seen it on my Twitter or Instagram.

I attended Saturday night's late show and had a great time, immensely improved by quickly reading the comments here about the earlier parts of the Trilogy, as it gave me an inkling what was going on lol! I was one of only 5 attendees who hadn't been there for the earlier shows. Thanks very much to Greeny11 and Dawnstar! Greeny11's summary of Episode 3 is excellent and much more than I can remember lol! Though, as regards the plot, the big takeaway, for me, was that Andrew Garfield was the apex of everything. The key point was that his acting was simply TOO good, something I had initially been dazzled by when I saw his Prior Walter at the National, but now became distraught by in the realisation that his talent could end the world. I mean, his ability to play a pigeon was so naturalistic that he could actually fly, but more tragically, his impersonation of Lawrence Dallaglio's Dad led Dallaglio into the mistaken belief he was unloved, which resulted in Dallaglio turning evil and starting the AShopocalypse. So, while I cooled on Garfield, I really warmed to the chap playing him, who cooed like a real pigeon and had immediate hilarious improvisations to every plot twist, and indeed, himself constructed key elements of the plot. And it was wonderful to see the Henrys, Lewis and Shields, Jonathan Sayers and Dave Hearn all doing what they do so well, as well as seeing other troupe members all so wonderfully talented! Reading the summary of Episode 2, above, I'm sorry I missed it, as nothing makes me laugh more than Henry Lewis in a booming frenzy breaking everything in proverbial China shops! It was lovely to see how the team prepare in advance of the internet broadcast by freely and loosely bouncing all sorts of weird and wonderful ideas of each other to warm each other up into an improvisational frenzy. The team are such a trusting, fun and friendly "family" unit that it struck me how much happier real families would be if the first thing every morning every family member just bounced crazy ideas off each other until everyone was laughing lol. Anyway, for me, a perfect end to a long day in London! 4 stars.

Steve Did you book knowing you'd be missing the first 2 parts of a trilogy or did you turn up & realise "oops!"?

Steve Did you book knowing you'd be missing the first 2 parts of a trilogy or did you turn up & realise "oops!"? Its was "Oops" lol! I booked because I was already in London for a double bill of "Bach and Sons" and "Bagdad Cafe," so it was the culmination of my own little trilogy, and it really made the day lol. Frankly, if Henry Lewis had made a cameo as Bach's third son, or if Jonathan Sayer had narrated it, that show might have got that little extra lift it needed. 😁

For the record, the Regent's Park shows. 6pm a heist movie featuring a spy set in DFS "Live And Let Lie". Cast: Mike, Nancy, Lauren, Henry L, Harry, Susan & Josh. 9pm a paranormal horror pirate movie set on the SMS Message titled "Paranormal Aaaarctivity". Same cast as 6pm.
If anyone's seeing any of the the Suffolk or Cornwall performances I'd appreciate knowing the titles, genres & locations of the shows you see.

Mischief will have a large presence at the Edinburgh Fringe, as Charlie Russell and Henry Lewis are taking up solo shows, while there is also a run of Mischief Movie Night:

I’ve never been, and probably never will, but I thought the point of the Fringe was to showcase new stuff. They’ve been doing MMN for donkey’s years now.

I get your point though, maybe that's why they're doing the other shows too? On the other hand, the Showstoppers are going to be there, and they've been doing the "same" show even longer than Mischief!

The point of the fringe is that anyone can put on anything they want. It does cost a fortune especially for accommodation so a way to try and reduce losses is to have several shows on at once to allow cross promotion and spread the accommodation costs. I've seen several well known acts bring a new passion project they are trying to launch to a small room in an unfashionable slot and also do a big room with their main act in a "headline" slot to help pay for their new project. I suspect this is what mischief are doing here.

Mischief's takeover of this year's Edinburgh Fringe festival continues. Not Mischief productions, but adding to Mischief Movie Night and the two other Mischief shows already announced, a new improvised comedy Star Quest will star members of both Mischief Theatre and The Showstoppers. Meanwhile, Harry Kershaw will be appearing as Boris Johnson in the comedy Boris III. Tickets for these two shows are on sale now from Pleasance and will be available on edfringe.com from Thursday.

I do wish Edinburgh wasn't so far away & so impossibly expensive to visit in August. They don't even seem to be doing a date at Regent's Park, which I hoped they would after doing the last 2 years.
