On the wider discussion I do some writing and direction work on immersive horror experiences. Some of them very much one on one and intense. I would never put myself in the shoes of the participants though there seem to be many willing to pay upwards of £100 for a very intense 3 hour nightmare That would define a VIP ticket for Stomp then!

If there was a show where you are the only audience and it was only five quid I still wouldn't be interested, I'd be so embarrassed. Unless it was a private performance from Robbie Williams. In that case it's a yes

5k for immersive theatre, where you have to contribute to the show? That's even worse than if they were charging 5k & you just sat there. If it's a 3 hour show then that's 1.6k per hour. I went on a 12 day cruise to St Petersburg for 1.5k this summer, which by my reckoning was £5.21 an hour! I've never paid even £100 for a show, in fact I think only once in 13 years of theatregoing have I paid over £70. And for 5k I could see TCAABR 200 times!

It would for me. For participants it would be the chance to be restrained and waterboarded apparently thats fun these days

I might pay $5,000 to see Larry Olivier live, but only because he's dead.

I might pay $5,000 to see Larry Olivier live, but only because he's dead. That gives me a wonderful idea for a marionette show with a difference.

Update on this (because if I'm being bored/nauseated by in equal measure I'm sharing the pain). The 'self discovery' element is indeed strong and the actor in question is sharing reviews that say the audience that night 'shared things I haven't shared with closest friends' and how it was a transformative experience. Actor in question declares they'd often wondered if it was 'all worth it' but this show has validated that.
Well for 5k I'd hope it was a bloody life changing experience.

Okay, but do you actually get to see Sleep No More as well, 'cos I'm all for hanging out with Groban in the McKittrick, but I'd need to get my Punchdrunk fix too. (Out of interest, do you suppose "stripped-down private show" means what I'd like it to mean...?)

More importantly the meet and greet element better mean La Groban's dog as well. Otherwise I'm out.
