I was there from day one, long before I was joined by the other millions, but as a matter of principle, I shall not be watching! I think the BBC were very foolish not to invoke their holdback clause. Agreed. I only watched in the first place because of Mel (of course I enjoyed it and was thrilled when it became huge), so it would feel disloyal to watch the new series. I like Sandi Toksvig (met her when I was on Fifteen to One) but do not like Noel Fielding. Prue was a bit up herself on Great British Menu but that's the style of that show, so maybe she'll adapt well to the Bake Off. Paul was my least favourite part of the original four and I guess he'll still be him. I was a contestant in the William G days. Not a man to be crossed. Fourth place, as you ask. How about you?

I was nervous enough as it was. Getting through to the final three would have been too much. Even to this day, I still haven't been able to watch my episode.

You start it :-p I've only done two TV quizzes but they were fun. I wanted to do the Bake Off so I could meet Mellie but the time pressure would take all the fun out of baking for me (and she no longer presents it).

The Chase. I did quite well but sadly the Chaser caught me.

At the risk of being whipped for going off topic (does anyone actually care about the C4 Bakeoff?) I would really love to hear all about The Chase, which chaser you got, etc. I know someone who went on, took the high offer and won the final chase along with the other 3. But they all had a right go at the last person, who took the low offer, even though the chaser lost by a millisecond so they wouldn't have won without that last person's point for getting through to the final chase. Years later he still can't let it go!

Even to this day, I still haven't been able to watch my episode. Well, that settles the entertainment for the next Theatreboard meet-up.

Even to this day, I still haven't been able to watch my episode. Well, that settles the entertainment for the next Theatreboard meet-up. Brilliant!!! I had Shaun as the Chaser. He was really lovely when the cameras weren't on. It was an earlyish start but getting to the ITV Studios is easy for me (unlike Fifteen to One which was up in Scotland). Earlier in the year I'd been a standby for The Chase (in case someone is sick or something) so I knew what to expect. The people who organise the experience for the contestants are fantastic and do everything they can to help you relax before being filmed. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Thanks BurlyBeaR. d'James that's so lovely to hear - those who don't win on game shows always say they've had a great day and it's nice to hear that's true and not something they're reading off the autocue. There is a chapter in one of Piers Morgan's memoir thingys (don't start...he writes well and I've already owned up to quite liking him on another thread) on where he meets Shaun for the first time and it is nothing short of hilarious. I gather he is NOTHING like his Chase persona. Thanks for telling us about this - any Bradley stories? I know someone who did panto with him and has only superlatives to describe how wonderful he was.

Yes Tibidabo he was very nice. I think he was quite tired as it was the last show of the day. I managed to get the recording of Fifteen to One stopped twice because they had to verify one of my answers and I took too long on one. During that time Sandi was lovely and seemed very interested in me. That was nice. When she welcomed me to the show, I asked her about a musical I'd seen her in, but they cut it out.

Didn't Sandi tour a two woman show with Bonnie Langford a few years ago or did I totally dream that?

Didn't Sandi tour a two woman show with Bonnie Langford a few years ago or did I totally dream that? It does ring a bell. She was in the musical with her too. She said they're good friends.

Like glossie mine wasn't a quiz show - my twin sister and I were 8 on 8/8/88 which apparently is newsworthy....so we were on Newsround, BBC & ITV national news and the local news channels and the papers. Main thing I remember was every camera crew or set of photographers bringing a cake so we could blow out the candles, to be honest every birthday since has been a major disappointment in the cake department

In Australia as a child in the mid 80's I was on an afternoon TV programme. Kind of a charades thing. From looking at the image I had to guess a Parasol. At this time of my life I'd never heard of this word. Needless to say, our team lost.
My sister and I appeared on ABC-our version of BBC-news in our pyjamas when a local politician came round on a Sunday with a camera crew unannounced when we were having breakfast.
I also appeared (ever so briefly) as the camera panned around at a Carols by Candlelight show.
Over here I have appeared on The One Show twice. The first time was a naked run through the studio (my manhood was covered) for Red Nose Day.
The second time my image, rather than me per se, appeared. The has the actor David Succet was on and as he played Hercule Pierot they asked for viewers to send in pictures of themselves with moustaches. Mine was selected and I have a still image of Matt Baker holding an enlarged image of me face with Alex Jones looking on.
We had a local resident in our local community where I live who committed suicide by jumping off a balcony after his Muslim parents advised he seek therapy for being gay and a year after the event there was a ceremony which I attended with other local residents and Local Councillors in support and because of this appeared in a blink and miss moment in a documentary about gay Muslims on Channel 4.

Ooh I was going to say I'd never been on tv but glossie just reminded me I've been interviewed on the BBC national news! I'm not sure that being photographed getting pushed into a police van before a court appearance is quite classed as an "interview" . . .

being on Norwegian national news What did you do?? Myself, hubby, son & friend went over to locate wreckage from a Gloster Gladiator that was shot down and crashed on Senja Island during WW11, for the Jet Age Museum in Gloucester. (With permission from the Norwegian government I hasten to add!) We found quite a lot which we collected and was eventually airlifted back to the UK, some of which is/will be used in a reconstructed airframe. I still have several bits of fuselage fabric framed and displayed on a wall. Mind you, our interviews and film was bumped down the schedule by the arrival of a rare penguin on the mainland, which got much more airtime than our piece!

Not sure if this counts but when I was about 3 the local TV company was filming on our estate as it had won some design award. My dad was outside the front of the house cutting the grass and I was picking it up. Had no idea about it until many years later when they screened some old footage and there I was. Wearing a bow tie to pick up grass. Why? The TV company were great and sent me a copy.
