..... on the back of one costume, the showrunner's entire work is judged to be subpar? Have you ever heard the idea "don't knock it until you've tried it"? I thought that by calling him Chibbers it would have clearly highlighted that I wasn't actually being serious about him going. The costume is still eyeboggingly awful though. Even June Hudson circa Series B of Blakes 7 would never have come out with that.

From Gary Kemp's twitter feed. The kid is a young Gary Kemp in a Children's Film Foundation film Also ... Interesting Gary Kemp mentioned the 70s as it also reminded me of Noddy Holder and Slade!

I was listening to BBC Radio Sheffield on the way home yesterday teatime. Now, @emicardiff, I know you get all possessive, but it seems the cast and crew of Doctor Who have spent the last week filming in the steel city. Do you not have a bus station in Cardiff? Sheffield is hardly Preston!!!
The Council will probably plant a commemorative tree. (A bit of local politics there.)

Or have BBC budget cuts got so bad that the annual Dr Who jaunt 'abroad' has had to scale back to Sheffield? Midway through typing though I've been reminded me that we in fact, do not currently have a bus station in Cardiff. It's under 'redevelopment' but Newport does and that's 10 minutes up the road....

a woman in the Tardis.... Not just a woman, but a Yorkshirewoman to boot. Perhaps part of her deal is that some of the filming has to take place on home soil?

Anyone else excited for tonight's special? I'm really excited. Although I still think the regeneration would always have so much more impact if they didn't announce who the new Doctor will be (or even that there will be a new Doctor) in advance. Just imagine the impact it would have if you're just watching the show and suddenly the Doctor regenerates and only then do you find out who will take over the role.

I enjoyed this one far more than reccent Xmas specials- I thought it was a simple (sometimes a good thing Moff!) but sweet and effective tale for Christmas. Love David Bradley anyway and his first Doctor was excellent- enough of himself and enough of an 'impression' to work. And I thought Gatiss was great, with his 'Mycroft' hair and that 'tache. And the ending had me weeping from 'Silent Night' to the end. I always cry when the Doctor regenerates but I admit to some 'Happy tears' when I first saw Jodie- it really does mean a lot that she's a she. And she is going to be fabulous.
Capaldi had a lovely goodbye speech as well. Fitting for him, it's just a shame he wasn't given this type of good material more often. Still farewell grumpy Scottish Doctor you did well, and you'll be missed. (Just not that annoying companion who STILL isn't properly gone)

Just not that annoying companion who STILL isn't properly gone If you mean Bill, I agree. She's intensely annoying and Pearl Mackie's performance is absolute one-note rubbish. I think they should have given the show a sabbatical but I'm really hoping the new era will provide a chance to re-think the companions. One of Moffat's obsessions seemed to be not having people actually properly die. My heart sank when I realised that sodding Bill was still going to be in it. Hopefully she is well and truly gone now. Yes it's a shame PC wasn't given better material during his run, he deserved it - I thought he was good and could have been great with better material. JW looked fantastic. It'd be great if she could stay in the previous Doctor's clothes or at least stay in more male-looking garb. Even just her "Ah, brilliant" line really fired me up. Unless I mis-heard, it sounds like she's doing it Londony? I'd have liked a Yorkshire Doctor but I'll still be glued to it. Probably drooling a bit.

Backdrifter I actually meant Clara. I genuinely liked her to start with and I do love Jenna Coleman. But she gets on my last nerve. (not her fault, Moffat's) But I also agree on the not dying point. I was ok with a one-off return of Bill as this was the end for Capaldi, but I imagine if both he and Moff had stayed longer we'd have had Clara 2.0 with Bill. Ah I thought Jodie sounded Yorkshire in that line...so we'll have to wait and see I guess!

I agree JC is good though and the annoyingness of Clara was due to the writing. Ah interesting, you heard Yorkshireness? I'll have to go back and listen again. Yorkshire would be great but either way's fine. I'll just be gazing at her in rapture anyway. I hope the new era also means less intrusive melodramatic music but I won't hold my breath.

When Clara showed up, I lost my sh*t. In a good way. The character may have been slightly annoying, but Jenna is so incredibly beautiful so I want her back

Moffat was obsessed with people dying and then returning in some form due to a timeline crossover type story.
I quite liked Bill so it's a pity she won't return. The new series probably won't be screened until until autumn 2018 and the following one spring 2020. I wish they would do a series each year even if they shortened it to say 8 episodes. If they continue with longer gaps between the series then Jodie could well move on in a couple of years as she is likely to get lots of offers given she is already high profile.
It would be interesting if Jodie decided to have another child to see how the writers try to get round that!

If even the Doctor can't get pockets in clothing tailored for women, there's NO hope for the rest of us.

Also the blokes have gloves and The Doctor has cropped trousers. She's already experiencing all the woes of clothes shopping for a woman's body.

Actually her duster does have pockets. Which will naturally be bigger on the inside. ☺ Perhaps the bum bag is really some sort of alien tech?

They were filming in Sheffield earlier this week.
SPOILER ALERT a scene where a man was knocking on the door of the Tardis!

Don't like the cropped trousers and trouser braces on a woman doesn't look natural. I keep thinking it reminds me of the much missed Robin Williams as Mork.

Three of the big hitters from the Peter Capaldi era, Sarah Dollard, Jamie Mathieson and Mark Gatiss, have all confirmed that they aren't writing for the new series. Sounds like Chibnall has established a writers' room of relatively new writers that he can shape and manage the way he wants to. Probably a good thing that it'll be all new voices.

Wanted to post a pic of my dog "Doc" aka The Dogtor in his newly built TARDIS kennel but couldn't fathom out how to do it so I changed my avatar instead. ( It was due for a change)

New logo revealed just now at the BBC Showcase. And confirmation that Murray Gold is no longer composing for the show. Certainly seems to be all out all change in the Tardis!
