Although pleased that Hopkins has gone, I'm annoyed they quote the sanctimonious, rent-a-gob O'Brien in the article.

I didn't even think she was that bad on LBC..entertaining to listen to She took to it like a duck to water didn't she? (Yes, LBC superfan up here in Manchester). She was really very good with callers, and could handle topics sensitively. The problem is that when your entire modus operandi relies on you staying in the news by making outrageously inflammatory comments you're eventually going to come a cropper. And she did. I consider James O'Brien to be just as bad, but he adopts the role of journalist (for which he is not qualified) and somehow gets away with it.

Although pleased that Hopkins has gone, I'm annoyed they quote the sanctimonious, rent-a-gob O'Brien in the article. It says it all about O'Brien that he chose to remain at LBC despite the fact they employed Farage and Hopkins who he had repeatedly and strongly denounced as racists - happy to take the money from an organisation that employs racists. He also took the money to present a short-lived and lamentably poor TV show which was equivalent to Jeremy Kyle but without the DNA tests. Odd the BBC employ him on Newsnight as a supposedly impartial presenter.

I wonder if she'll join Julia Heartless-Brewer at Talk.

She appears to be angling for a spot on Fox News.

I didn't even think she was that bad on LBC..entertaining to listen to The problem is that when your entire modus operandi relies on you staying in the news by making outrageously inflammatory comments you're eventually going to come a cropper. And she did.I think you got it spot on. There's only so long you can tread the line between unprecedentedly offensive and "not convicted for hate speech" before something gives somewhere. No doubt she'll be back on Celebrity Big Brother in the autumn or start reporting for Infowars or something. I actually used to be a big fan of Katie in her early days, when she used to appear on This Morning and talk about how she hates tattoos I thought she was hilarious and that she was injecting a much needed dose of irreverence into an increasingly sour world. I met her a couple of years back at the filming for a TV show and told her how much I loved her, she couldn't have been lovelier, she said she hoped her son would grow up to be like me and told me I was always welcome to email her and that she might not be able to reply but regardless she reads everything and it would still mean a lot. My mum bumped into her in the street randomly a couple of months later and she was equally nice to her. I don't know if something switched in her mind or if she was always on the path to being vile but I just feel awful when I realise that I built up the ego of someone that just became a racist refugee hating paranoid almost fascist (I'm being kind in saying that I don't think she's a full fascist). Maybe her 15 minutes of fame came to an end and she panicked and realised she had to really up her game to still be relevant. It's disappointing.

The question is, does she really think that? Or is she saying that to get max coverage?
I suspect its the latter. But it doesn't matter because when you make huge misjudgements like that you don't have a leg to stand on.
It's not the end of her career though. LBC is nothing in the greater scheme of things and it was only 3 hours once a week. She'll no doubt be back.

What she did is same as what happened to that Milo creature.
Stoking outrage and building up a contrary persona is all well and good until you invoke ideals that are indefensible - in her case, ethnic cleansing of Jews, in his, child abuse in the Catholic Church.

LBC is nothing in the greater scheme of things and it was only 3 hours once a week. She'll no doubt be back. I do think a lot of her act is put on, she's also really mastered exactly when to switch into "troubled and damaged epileptic with an autistic child who doesn't want anyone to make a fuss" for sympathy too. It takes a certain kind of mentality to think like that in the first place though. What she did is same as what happened to that Milo creature. Stoking outrage and building up a contrary persona is all well and good until you invoke ideals that are indefensible - in her case, ethnic cleansing of Jews, in his, child abuse in the Catholic Church. Milo had a bit of a scandal involving him endorsing paedophilia didn't he? I don't think he did endorse paedophilia but he made the wrong joke at the wrong time which made it sound like he did. I'm all for contrary points of view and skeptics / self proclaimed free thinkers telling us how they feel about things, the world is so often an echo chamber, but as has been said previously, with the likes of Katie, Milo, Alex Jones, Paul Joseph Watson and co, it seems to just be them trying to be outrageous for the sake of it, it's very disingenuous, so even if they weren't talking b*llocks then it would be difficult to really get behind what they were saying.

Professional trolls, basically. There's no good way of dealing with 'em - you can't in good conscience let their horrific statements go unchallenged lest they appear to be generally accepted, but arguing with/condemning them just gives them the attention they crave.

Another LBC fan.
If I was Katie Hopkin's agent I would definitely advice her to stay away from social media.

Katie Hopkins, LBC quite right to fire her.
Kathy Griffin a victim of old white men trying to stifle free speech.
And the other way around.

She must be missing the LBC dosh though, with massive legal bills to honour (smirk.)

She must be missing the LBC dosh though, with massive legal bills to honour (smirk.) Doubt it. One Show a week, two, or three hours on air? Average listener tuning in for 15, maybe 20 mins? I doubt she was making much from LBC
