I think it’s good to have the original cast back for a high profile show like this. For example majority of Come From Away/Hamilton original casts recorded. Shame it wasn’t a thing when Rent OG cast played.

I think most of the original cast are booked with other projects just now as well, eg Jenny O'Leary (original Martha) who is touring with We Will Rock You until September.

A bit late with the Steve talk now, but back during the RTH run or tour (I can't remember which), there was a cast Instagram story takeover where the actress who played Miss Flemming on that run said that they pick out the Steve during Beautiful, assumedly based on audience participation and whoever they could see having a great time. I never saw either of these runs, nor who was Steved at them, so I can't comment on how successful this rule of thumb was, but I assume they've continued this for TOP. I've also seen people on Twitter mention how they DM'ed the cast with seat numbers as a practical joke toward their partners/friends/family who were also at the theatre, so that they would be exclusively picked for the role. I think that this is generally a much fairer way to do it, as someone could be really enjoying the show (as I would be), but still not feel comfortable with being Steved due to the aspects of the role (as, again, I would be). That said, at every showing that I've been to, the Steve has always embraced the role and seemingly had a good time doing it. So I'm not too sure what happened at that showing.

With the announcement of the OLC Proshot of Six. Anyone know why they didn’t get the OG cast of Heathers for their pro shot? As Cinderella was closing they could’ve waited a couple of weeks for Miss Fletcher? I’m not offering a view on ‘best’ casts. Just wondering about the economics of filming a lesser known cast? Im so grateful they didn't get carrie back for the pro shot otherwise it would gave just been the CHF show all over again, plus she was never cut out to be veronica in the first place

Let’s not underestimate the part that she played in it’s inception over here. PTM assembled the cast around Carrie, not unlike ALW went on to do with Cinderella, as a money spinning way to launch the show. She was in no way a bad Veronica; just not as good in retrospect as those who have come after her whos’ voices are more suited to it.

I don’t think it needed her ‘star power’ to sell. It was v anticipated in this country and would’ve sold out at the OP regardless. I thought she was terribly miscast as Veronica. Nothing to do with her size as is widely reported. Her acting was not the best, the accent all over the place and by the end she’d wrecked her voice due to the vocal demands. Have seen it since and much preferred CB and the current Veronica. JD don’t think JM has been topped since.

The original run was CHF but she wasn’t involved in the public workshops, which sold out almost instantly. I remember really enjoying Charlotte Wakefield as Veronica!

Usually Kenwright needs at least a Nolan or an ex-Hollyoaks hunk to convince him.

Apart from Daisy does anybody know who the new cast members that will be starting next week are?

Does this show report actually exist - has anyone seen it? I also don't see how a show report could be leaked. Someone has been very unprofessional. Here's some advice for budding DSMs based purely on my experiences so far in my career Each of my show reports goes to the director/AD, the producers and where necessary - and only if notes are given - to LX and SND. Even then, I am very careful what I write and small things I just have a word. It is a bond of trust with the SM team and cast, never write anything you wouldn't say to the person in the flesh. Lots of DSM's log absolutely everything and producers/directors I work with absolutely hate that because they have to waste time reading through nonsense to get to anything actionable. Never, ever criticise performances directly in a show report. It becomes an official document and would be available under a GDPR request in the case of tribunal, for instance. Stick to the facts. I use character names to avoid personalising a note, but if giving a note which requires an actor's name use correct pronouns and a title. Cite specifics with no conjecture or other colour. Bad example: "John Smith was late again with his entrance for his big song, was chatting in wings" Good example: "Mr. Smith entered late at top of Act I, Scene II (Pg. 14 - "I Want Song"). This was the third occurrence of this specific issue. Company Manager will discuss this with Mr. Smith before the next performance and offer any assistance in preventing this from happening in future". A quick glance at their crew’s SM would suggest their usual DSM was away, as she tweeted that they had cover assistant SMs on who had never done the show before … interesting how their lack of cover seems to go backstage as well as the cast

It's the Company Manager who emails it, and this isn't the first time he's done this. Last time he accidentally emailed everyone's wages!

Fantastic matinee today. It was really the Hannah Lowther show. Really going for it with the costume changes, she got some lines that don't normally come to her, a drawn on moustache as a police officer, plus even did a distraction cartwheel in front of the dress change scene. She got to dance upstairs during the finale and then pulled to the front for the bows.
They were ribbing Teleri a bit, leaving her chanting "Martha" alone during the house party and dancing alone as a cheerleader.
Steve didn't show up in the audience, but luckily Phil was there and took the audience involvement with good grace. I presume he was connected with the show in some way, but couldn't immediately place him.
Lots of giggles all around during the act one finale and the funeral. Liam took a long time to die, managing to crawl across the stage to end up on top of Rory in a rather compromising position. Although, I'm not sure they were all that dead, with all the giggling.
I finally got to see May Tether on as Veronica. She was very good, sang beautifully, acted more in the tour style to Ailsa but it worked well. Coped well with the occasional mayhem around her. They only had three people in the female ensemble, plus Benjamin Karran as the token person in the male ensemble.
So, it's goodbye to Hannah and Teleri, both of whom got great applause. I hadn't realised, but looks like it was also the final show for Andy Brady and Liam Doyle. Liam departing is a surprise. Of course, this is Heathers, so it is never goodbye! Sad to see them all go, some real talent there.
Any guesses as to who will be on next week?

Not trying to be a killjoy but I often wonder what general punters who’ve just gone to see the show for the first time make of all the messing around? I’m sure the cast are having a whale of a time but folks have parted with hard earned cash for this

I’m sure the cast are having a whale of a time but folks have parted with hard earned cash for this I do agree, but most of the muck-ups are subtle enough they don't change anything (and some you'd only notice if sat at the front). Plus, I'm not that convinced there are many first time attendees left. Although I did accidentally open the door into the gents onto a boy of about five who was stood inside (nothing I had any way of knowing when I opened the door, although thankfully he wasn't hurt). I can't imagine he or his father were repeat attendees. One thing I forgot to mention in my review is they must have been short staffed in the sound department again. Lots of microphones turned on a second or two late, some of them turned off half way through a line, plus music so loud at points that none of the vocals could be made out. I know it wasn't my choice of seat, as I've sat there before. That's more of a problem to people who don't know the show than the traditional cast change afternoon japes.

Still no cast…. I just think it’s unfair to the cast getting announced the day they debut

Still no cast…. I just think it’s unfair to the cast getting announced the day they debut I'd hazard a guess that the people who filled in at short notice last week might already have been in rehearsals. But yes, I do wonder why cast change is kept so secret (and why Liam leaving wasn't announced in advance - or, if it was, I completely missed it).

Confusing, did Ben leave then? Or have they finally decided to have a swing and that's what he's doing? So do they now have a proper full cast, I'm definitely confused, never know who is coming or going, or even staying.

I like Joe Boyle, but does that mean Ben Karran has quietly left too. Looks like it won't be a full cast night tonight. Daisy Twells is on as Heather McNamara.

Andy Brady (who was left on Sunday) and Jordan Cunningham will also be returning this evening. Just when you think all will be normal at heathers with a full cast…..

Yes, my visit to see the class of summer 2022 is going to be different! Still, I never did to see Jordan as Kurt, so glad to finally do so!
Lewis and Jacob are joining the ensemble according to the entrance poster. Will have to see who appears on stage!

So, then the highlight from last night. Ram and Kurt had new underwear!
More seriously though, a great show and so good to see a (nearly) full stage. A few minor slips with things, but only people who know the show would notice and everyone did well with the odd mix of people involved.
I'm sure that Jordan Cunningham is contractually obliged to return for every cast change! Or he just needs a break from his day job. Great to finally see his Kurt and he hasn't missed a beat.
Daisy Twells was absolutely charming as Heather McNamara.
Otherwise, this was a three person female ensemble and three person male ensemble. Many of you will be pleased to know that Ben was still there, although I wouldn't be surprised if Joe Boyle takes over soon. Not sure what the reason is behind the staggered starts, apart from perhaps they want to make sure that there are enough experienced cast members on stage.
Jacob Young and Lewis Asquith fit right in too. Lewis is rather tall compared to everyone else.
I wonder which night will be the first one with the full new cast?
