They won't be paid West End rates there so I doubt any of the old cast will come back. Didn't stop a West End cast doing it the first time round though did it?

…and if it gives some quality talent a break it is surely worth it to them. Still calling Jenny Seagrove for Ms Fleming/Veronica’s Mom though. 🤣

They'll probably wheel the much too old Jodie Steele out again... not that she's bad she's just far too old. I would imagine someone like Christina Bennington will go in again as Veronica. Both Jodie and Christina have confirmed they won’t be part of it. Paul Taylor-Mills posted an Instagram story earlier that indicated casting wasn’t complete yet, and it also sounds like rehearsals start on Monday. A shame, as Christina was a brilliant Veronica.

They’ve had cast meet and greet today. Wonder if anyone knows anything about casting as they’re teasing it to be announced very soon?

That cast got to be the orginal UK cast which might have some non monetary value to the cast. Also they got to do a cast album and a transfer although they presumably didn't know that when they signed up.

Jodie has just been confirmed as being cast in Gatsby at the Southwark Playhouse in December so I think her time in Heathers is officially over.

I certainly don't think that actors should work for less than they're worth, but jobs aren't that easy to come by. A role in a popular show, even at the Other Palace, looks good for the CV. It's also great for social media promotion and getting the fan base involved. Plus, this is one of the shorter performances. So if the West End cast were available (and I appreciate this will have already been cast) then I'd certainly encourage them not to turn down this opportunity purely on the grounds of principle.

I suspect it is more likely that they would turn it down based on having to eat & pay rent. Luckily most of the original cast ended up getting a West End run out of it.

Well, I don't know who any of them are but I'm excited anyway to see some fresh talent!

I know one of the people in the cast so just went to look at tickets and they're so expensive??? Over £35 for the very back row? What a joke. Surely their main fanbase is teenagers with limited money to spend?

Emma Kingston was in the recent Children of Eden concert, replacing Alice Fearn when she had to drop out due to illness. Fantastic performer, absolutely brought the house down with 'Ain't it Good', standing ovation well deserved. Glad to see her name coming up in this!

Freddie King is an absolute treat. Saw him in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and the A Little Night Music concert in Holland Park last year and now getting ready to swoon over his JD. Emma Kingston will also be fantastic in this so looking forward to seeing Heathers for the first time.

And for you younger theatre boarders out there you may recognise Hannah Lowther as the one who posts videos working at Tesco.

Just realised Lizzie Bea is also in this, as Martha. She workshopped the role, so good that she gets to play it, and of course she's just out of Hairspray.

Not something I ever used to notice, but it isn’t the most diverse cast is it?

Isn’t The Other Palace an off west end venue? If so then how can the cast be making their west end debuts??

Isn’t The Other Palace an off west end venue? If so then how can the cast be making their west end debuts?? Quite right. It seems to only be a W/E venue when it suits them. Is it based on number of seats rather than location?

Is it based on number of seats rather than location? Nothing to do with seats like Broadway. It's based on if they've paid money to SOLT. The Arts wasn't "West End" when Six opened, but had been before. The producers coughed up to get the venue eligible for the Oliviers, when it had been eligible for the offies before. Well that's how the story goes... The Other Palace has been West End before, with its shows Olivier eligible etc. I should known, I remember working the night several of the judging committee was in.

Right, so Bill would have to cough up to SOLT to reclassify it and slso pay more in wages. Unlikely then eh?

The Other Palace is a UK Theatre venue and is also a SOLT affiliate. This is the same as Almeida, Arcola, Arts, Bloomsbury, Boulevard, Bush, Cadogan Hall, Charing Cross Theatre, Donmar Warehouse, Greenwich, Hackney Empire, Hampstead, Kiln, Lyric Hammersmith, Menier Chocolate Factory, New Wimbledon Theatre, Park, Peacock, Polka, Riverside Studios, Rose Theatre Kingston, Soho, Theatre Royal Stratford East, Unicorn & Young Vic. This means they abide by the UK theatre union agreements (which are the ones used by the majority of the No. 1 scale theatres around the UK) rather than the SOLT (West End) agreements but they are eligible for the affiliate theatre Olivier award or can choose to pay the performance levy which would make all of their productions or specific productions eligible for the main awards. Under RUT the Other Palace paid the performance levy which made all shows in their main house eligible for the main awards.
