Is it a benefit for ‘Help the Aged’? Apparently so! They'll all be great but it's getting a bit much. Why are people moaning about Ben Platt being 'too old' to play Evan on film but on stage it's apparently fine! Crazy world. |

I think you'll find danb does more than his fair share of supporting the arts based on his board posts. Making a joke about casting 30-year-olds to play teenagers is hardly damning the production to fail. |

It was a criticism, yes. There are many many undiscovered talents that could play these roles just as well at aged 22/23. But it was a glib comment. I have no doubt that CB and JLG will sing it fantastically and I’ll be there to see it. I’m sorry you don’t agree.

As someone who hasn’t seen the show before, and isn’t sure whether to see it in London or Liverpool, now that both casts have been announced which would be the one to see? West End or touring?

Forgive me if I’m wrong but isn’t it part of the cult that adults play teens in this show? Like, wasn’t the original film full of people far too old to pass and that’s part of the ‘joke’??

I'm not sure, I think you're thinking of Grease. Christian Slater was 18, Winona Ryder and Shannen Doherty were both only 16 when they shot the film. Everyone else was only early 20's tops, including the oldest of the Heathers. |

Christina Bennington is going to be amazing. The tour cast does seem slightly more exciting though.

Tour cast to me sounds more interesting, although I'd like to see Lauren Ward as Ms Fleming, and I think Christina Bennington is probably more suited to it than CHF was.
We'll see though - maybe it'll pop up on TodayTix for £15 like a few things have started doing and I might pop along, haven't seen it since TOP. they won't get a new set though, the old one has been in storage so it'll just be a recreation of what they previously had.

Christina Bennington will be fantastic as Veronica. She has an incredible voice and played a teen convincingly in BOOH. Think we’ll finally get some chemistry with the two leads. Excited for this cast.

It would definitely have to change theatre and they would have to find someone else to play J.D if there is an extension as Jordan will be contracted to return to &Juliet, which re-opens 24th September.
I must admit, this casting really excites me, Christina and Jordan were both great in Bat and can see Christina being a very good Veronica. Jodie's return as Chandler was no real surprise as I had my suspicions this would happen when she announced she wasn't returning to the UK tour of Six.
