They should sell cleaning fluid and guns on the merchandise stand. It would really help with dealing with bad behaviour in the audience. That would probably lead to some interesting reports on the bad behaviour thread.

It was an Instagram story which disappears after 24 hours. It said she was under the weather but from what I can see she still went ahead with radio promo and the show. She was in very fine voice at the matinee today - even stronger than when I saw the show in early previews at TOP. Nice to hear her voice grow as she's settled into the role, which is almost certainly the biggest sing of all the roles she's played. She’s still quite under the weather it seems from her instagram story but did both shows with plenty of rest in between. She may get slagged off a bit on here but she’s an old trouper when it comes to performances to be fair!

Was also at the matinee today (5th time, possibly got one more visit before it closes). Carrie in fine voice so no worries there! That’s a really tough role to sing 8 times a week.
Only just noticed today oh my fifth viewing that Kurt and Ram appear in the ensemble of dead gay son!
Nathan now doing his full track and I though he did very well.

I saw this tonight. I much preferred it at The Other Palace where it’s fringe feel alternative home was better suited than mainstream West End. Two of my mates I took didnt like it at all and were saying she was too fat, she was too old, he wasn’t sexy enough, the songs too in your face and the piece just too twisted - and that comes from non theatre folk. I enjoyed it but I do wish the transfer had been Carrie instead. Your mates sound like nice people don't they. Aren’t they allowed to have that opinion? Lots of people have said one of the girls is possibly too old, jamie is sensational and I adore him in every show but the sex scene does look odd. Plus the weight of actors is about casting roles and suitability nothing to do with them as people. They are all very talented and I like the show very much.

I’m assuming the weight issue is to do with Carrie? But there is nothing about the role that requires a certain weight. In fact there is a line that says she could do with losing a few pounds. So I don’t see how it is an issue.

Yes, your friends are allowed to have opinions, but maybe don’t share them on this public forum?

Well damn nobody told me it looks 'odd' when fat people have sex....how VERY dare they. I mean, it's a scandal. Also that a 'fat' * person have (fake stage) sex with a not-fat person. I mean it defies BELIEF. It's like totally unrealistic when people who don't look like models are put on stage, and dare to do this thing called acting. Next thing they'll be singing and dancing about murder as well...oh. Wait. Seriously though what a disgusting comment. And if my friends were saying such things I'd certainly keep that to myself rather than broadcast it in a way that looks like I endorse it. Which it seems you do. * Carrie is NOT fat. But also, as above Veronica isn't supposed to look as 'perfect' as the Heathers, that's sort of the point. Though I'd happily look like Carrie.

Yes, your friends are allowed to have opinions, but maybe don’t share them on this public forum? Do any of you understand professional casting? Or understand how it works? It’s not personal at ALL about the performers - I’ve said this many times. But an actors style, looks, face, weight, skin, teeth, age, class, sexuality (if obvious) will all be discussed at great lengths by agents, the director, composers, producers and casting - it’s what creating a show is all about. Drama schools often discuss the same issues - it’s all about casting! Are we not meant to discuss that? Are critics banned from commenting on the look and suitability of an actor they pay to see? To comment on if we think the actors truly fit the roles they play in a mature and diplomatic manner? I think that’s exactly what such forums are for. In America it’s 1000 times worse and unforgiving. That is the business!!

There's no directors, actors, writers, producers on this board. Nobody who has been writing about theatre for decades. None of it. Just you. You're the only one who has any professional knowledge.

Exactly. So wake up. They would never have a size 16/18 Elphaba in Wicked. That’s not being bad or evil or nasty - that’s just the casting!

Wow. Sarcasm goes REALLY over your head doesn't it. Ok let's play that game. It's less likely that Wicked would cast a bigger girl there, yes, because they've established an 'aesthetic' for it (for better or worse). And it's a long running show. Same with say Christine in Phantom. Or any of the Les Mis girls...oh wait Carrie played one of them. So maybe it isn't set in stone for the right person. Heathers is a new musical (give or take, as this was a very much in development production) and oh look, the director/producers have gone for, in your opinion someone 'fat' showing that in fact, your mysterious 'rule' that nobody over a size 10 can be cast is false. Yes the acting industry has a problem with discriminating against larger people. But it's people like you with frankly disgusting attitudes that are making it worse, when a director DOES show that a perfectly normal sized girl, can be cast in the leading role, and have audiences lapping it up. Are the teenage girls this show is aimed at saying 'Carrie is too fat?' NO they're loving her performance (and her youtube videos) because they aren't a narrow minded dinosaur like you. Perhaps, to quote the show, your asteroid is overdue.

Heathers is a show that attracts a very young female audience. A group that suffers like no other from all the crazy ridiculous pressure exercised through (social) media when it comes to body image. I thought it was fantastic that they cast Veronica with a normal-sized young woman and not a stick-thin waif. If a role-model like Carrie helps just one girl in the audience to accept herself as she is and not fight perceived overweight with ridiculous diets leading to eating disorders and depression, that's fabulous. And I think it matters even more when the character is a "real" high school girl and not some fantasy figure like Elphaba or Elsa.

They couldn't have a heifer play Elphaba anyway. The lift wouldn't work and there'd be no defying gravity.

And I think your friends are all rubbish. Now how about you stick to “I disagree because...” and cut the shading of people you do not know? The moderator post up the page was more Indirect but no less guilty of abusing strangers and a member’s personal life. If we’re going down that route then I hope I’m not wasting my time replying to a scrabble playing, pizza lover with a stamp collection - they really wind me up. If your friends dismiss someone's suitability for a role on the grounds that they are "fat", I don't need to know anything more about them. I hope this helps! What's wrong with scrabble playing, collecting stamps and eating pizza, by the way?

Dear Judi and Maggie, Thanks so much for offering to appear free of charge for as long as I wish in the production of my choosing in the West End. While neither of you are very overweight, you are too old and unattractive for us to consider casting you. Sorry, Love Musical Marge Productions. Dear Imelda, Tell me it's your 'turn' as much as you like but unless you lose three stone and grow two feet you'll never work in this town again. (I don't care who your hubby is footman for). kisses!

Well god forbid I get a job at Musical Marge Productions, with me being extremely tall, admittedly slightly overweight and possessing Asperger’s syndrome.

Well god forbid I get a job at Musical Marge Productions, with me being extremely tall, admittedly slightly overweight and possessing Asperger’s syndrome. I mean I know @ryan and I joke that 'hotties only need apply' sometimes, but in the real world (not our twisted fantasies, which are best left alone anyway) I'd much rather see 'real' people (including Neurodiverse ones sorry spelling?) Which is why I'm also proudly the chair of a theatre company that puts disabled actors, who come in all shapes and sizes just like non disabled ones, at the centre of their work. Which isn't related to Heathers, but this has become a horrible thread for anyone who feels outside the 'norm' to see so I wanted to put that out there, into the theatre universe, that bitching aside, some of us really really don't think like that.

As a teenager I’m very much the target audience for this show. I haven’t seen it, but I already enjoy the cast recording and have for the past two years. I’m also a bit fat, and Carrie being cast as Veronica is to memory the only accurate representation of myself as a teenage girl I’ve ever known. This is real life and suggesting that it’s ‘odd’ to see girls of Carrie’s size on stage/men that look like Jamie in a sex scene is ridiculously harmful and insensitive, especially given the audience for this show in particular.

I think it's really important that everyone is represented onstage, especially for a show like this, where the target audience is largely impressionable teenagers where it is really easy for us to think that we must all be stick-thin and perfect due to misrepresentation in the media.

I should’ve included this too, I have friends who are larger, friends who are much slimmer and friends who are an ‘average’ size (if you could even call it that) and I think it’s important that everybody is represented in a show with this much impact

To quote Bridget Jones 'I will always be a little bit fat' and I can't tell you how much as a teen someone like Carrie would have helped me. Both on stage and as a 'celebrity'. But also to as a (then) aspiring actor (before i realised I had no talent) to think 'Oh hey I CAN do that and not just be in the supporting roles' would have been amazing.
Also hell the girl looks cute in that outfit (Perm aside ey @ryan)
