Numerous cast members posting online about early rehearsals this morning so there clearly is going to be a good bit of change for the west end run. Jodie Steele is one of those posting about it so she obviously is doing some bit of the west end run. No idea how that is going to work with ROA.

I won't be surprise if they got either Stand by for the 1st few places Jodies misses on the tour or Erin bell take Sheree and someone cover her role from the ensemble!

Oh I meant to say. After My Dead Gay Son and at the start of his scene with Veronica, Jamie Muscato corpsed. Is that like a scripted thing or what? I just thought it seemed odd the amount of times he must of seen and been a part of that scene/song that it seemed to have tickled him so much? He normally is very cheery after that because Dead Gay Son proved his point of being optimistic, if that helps !

Finally got the chance to see this last week, so glad I went through the dates and managed to get a cheap ticket for it, my only wish now is that I'd also bought myself another when I had the chance as I really enjoyed it. I've never seen the film before and I'll admit I didn't really know much about the show before going in but that's the way I tend to prefer it. Act 2 felt like it could still do with a bit of tightening up, parts felt rushed and it just didn't match act 1's standard for me but it was a great show nonetheless. Jodie Steele, Sophie Isaacs and Jamie Muscato were the standout performers for me, I also loved the energy that Lauren Drew brought to the ensemble. I must admit I was expecting a far worse audience behaviour wise than I actually had, yes there was a lot of clapping and cheering but it was all at acceptable points (ie: after a song had finished) and deadly silent whilst the performance itself was happening. Definitely going to try and catch it once again (maybe a few times) when it gets to Haymarket, still yet to book but I may hold out for offers seeing as it isn't selling out currently Agree I thought its got what you want with a musical - good story, good acting, really good singers, a diverse cast without losing quality to achieve it, and decent songs.
The Carrie fans were interesting, well behaved, and very supportive of everyone. Its interesting that she can fill 70- 80% of the Other Palace on the days i went, with her fan base. Producers might note that she's also attracting their future - the younger audience so many shows fail completely to attract - even if they get over excited when Carrie takes her shirt off. It well deserves a transfer , probably a longer one.

It does raise the question of whether it could survive without her though. The ultimate aim of all this ‘work in progress’ mallarkey is surely to create a definitive version of the show? A version that can be toured & licensed to am dram etc? I look forward to seeing it again, hopefully in tandem with ‘Eugenius’ (another TOP success story) at some point in September, especially now that Rob Houchen is attached.

It does raise the question of whether it could survive without her though. I think - quite possibly? I didn't know her at all, either from other shows or from all the social media stuff and I had only a passing interest in Heathers as something about Mean Girls infinitely rubbed me the wrong way for personal reasons and I kinda rejected the idea of "another musical about bitchy American high school girls" out of hand. I even sold the ticket I had booked for The Other Palace because I decided I didn't want to see it. But then all the chatter here and the hype and the overall positive commentary got me to think that it's unfair to ANY show to reject it out of hand and stared doing my homework. So my first port of call was the actual movie with Winona Ryder and Christian Slater, which basically won me over within five minutes when I realized that it wasn't celebrating the bitch culture or put the three Heathers central, but the two snarky outsiders and turned it all into a dark satire. Then I listened to the cast recording online and thought, well, it's not my favorite kind of music, but it has a bunch of decent songs. So... I've now booked for the Haymarket run to see it after all. I could definitely see all the hoopla around Carrie generating interest in the show itself, getting the attention of people who know the movie or get curious enough to see it or just think the show has an interesting premise. Apart from Wicked and Jamie there aren't really any musicals geared towards a young female audience at the moment, so I can see a market there.

Don’t get me wrong, I think the show itself IS strong enough, especially if they’ve continued to fine tune it. It’s more the fact that it is now the second production created/financed around the idea of this social media darling being the star and drawing in a younger crowd. Is there anyone remotely similar that she could be replaced by?

I realised i didn't really say what i thought of this. Well, i really liked it. I'd not seen any of it before, not heard any of it before save for Candy Store and Shine a Light. It was a bit different to what i expected, as in a bit more crazy and comedic than i envisaged going in. I thought the cast were universally excellent, i though vocally it was one of the best sounding shows around. Everyone had a great powerful voice without fail. I enjoyed the songs, i was lucky enough to go when the new song had just been introduced and i think it was one of my fave songs in the show, though i felt that you could tell Carrie was more unsure singing it and still finding her feet with it, which is to be expected.
Highlights are similar to most others i think, Jodie Steele was excellent, I loved Carrie, Jamie was menacing, i thought Sophie was brilliant, an absolute special mention for Rebecca Lock who stole the show for me. If there was someone who i was unsure of it was T'shan but i still thought she was great overall.
I felt maybe the 2nd act got a little bit disjointed but from what i've heard a lot of the 2nd act is going to be re written for the transfer so it will be interesting to see that in action.
The crowd were wild but in a good way, nothing crazy, no ruining anything, but just very loud and enthusiastic in the right moments. It's hard not to get swept up in the atmosphere.
I do plan now to go back to see it at it's run at the TRH.

Is it already known if Haymarket will have dayseats? I am in London mid September and have Friday night free but definitely not paying their prices.

I saw this a couple of weeks ago and thought it was in very good shape. As has been mentioned the second act becomes disjointed and would benefit from a more flexible setting. Sad that I missed the new song, hopefully there will be a recording.
To tell the truth I wouldn’t have known Carrie Hope Fletcher if she’d bumped into me but she clearly has talent.
One other major plus, the audience. The sheer excitement and engagement was wonderful to see. I was slightly on the side so had a great view of how they were invested in the story and it was a joy to behold.
For anyone who contributes to this forum. There is not enough joy here, Nowhere near enough and nowhere near the enjoyment that regular audiences get out of theatre. Too much cynicism, too much negativity, too much ‘look at how superior I am to these writers/performers’ My toleration level for that sort of thing is rapidly sinking.
More of this type of audience please.

It was lovely to be part of an atmosphere like that. You can't help be more excited yourself and what's more that energy is bound to aid the performers.
I dislike nothing more than going to the theatre and hearing people around me dissect every aspect of the production and finding every singling thing wrong with it. Sometimes they do that before the show has even started!
Let's have more audiences like this, who actually want to see what they are about to watch and are going to take joy from it.

Browsing through seating plans and there's still quite a lot of availability for the 1st week of the Haymarket run, even opening night. I wonder if we'll be seeing some TodayTix discounts soon?

Got to love a last night .... even though it's transferring, there was so much excitement in the room on Saturday. A young audience and mainly female. I saw the film years ago, hadn't realised there would be so much humour in this. I do like Carrie Hope Fletcher, she's very good in this. And Jamie Muscato - good casting. I enjoyed watching the faces of the audience too, lots of enthusiasm. I doubt I'll see the transfer, but I enjoyed Saturday night very much.

Not sure if we already knew it (Sorry if I missed the news) but Edward Baruwa wont be transferring to the Haymarket so that role will be recast.

Jodie Steele is doing the full run at the Haymarket - Rock of Ages have just announced Danielle Hope as Sherrie for the first part of the tour.
