Complaining people aren't flocking to see it when tickets have only been on sale a day? Their complaint (I believe) is more that there isn't this much chatter and excitement over a new British musical, but that's hardly the fault of PTM/TOP. Heathers already had a cult following from the film and then the musical too, it's already known, whereas unless you know about a new musical already it's hard to create this much hype over it. Which is a shame, yes! I wish they'd just announced Heathers and tickets first, then Carrie being in it a little later. The name of the show itself would've sold fairly well from the get-go and that would've been interesting to see.

Really? Maybe I’m in the dark a bit on this but I barely know anyone under 30 who even knows the film. Alas, I spoke to a 26 year old this week who has never heard of Kevin Spacey (our office is very near to the Old Vic too) and had a friend who met a 24 year old last week who had never heard of Jack Nicholson. Knowing that there are young people who know Heathers is at least a light at the end of this very dark tunnel. Don’t underestimate the role parents and older siblings play in introducing kids to ‘classics’. Exactly. And people exploring films on their own - I'm 37 and I've seen hundreds of films older than I am! If something is great, it's great, regardless of how old it is 😁

Well. I don't know Carrie Hope Fletcher but I know from here that I should hate her. I don't like The Other Palace. The seats are uncomfortable, it's not in London's glitzy West End so they shouldn't charge more than £2.50 for a ticket and the box office is in a really stupid place. Paul Taylor Mills should be publicly flogged for putting on a musical I don't like and for being a big Twitter baby. The prices are extortionate and Carrie's fans are dreadful. I think that covers it?
Apart from all of that, of course I'll go to see it if I can get a cheap ticket. 😉
Chillax folks. First World problems and all that.

I struggle a bit with tokenism for the sake of it; which I realise is easy enough to say as a straight white male, but if more quality British musicals had been written and produced in the last twenty years, there wouldn’t be a need to make jingoistic claims about putting on mostly British musicals. If peoples needs aren’t being addressed by what is currently on offer, or they only find themselves on the fringes of that artform, then fair enough (Black Panther I’m looking at you...4th biggest movie of all time now. Whoever would have thought that POC go to the cinema too 🙄). If only we lived in a world where all of our needs were met without excluding others. This year I feel that both Hamilton & Black Panther have brought us slightly closer to this; just a shame that it’s exception rather than norm.

The other issue in what PTM wrote yesterday, he has said that he is putting on a big show and that is the reasoning for the prices and the math. Fair enough. But now that means it has to be a big show! If people walk in on that first preview and there isnt multiple costume and set changes, special effects, lighting and projection etc, that is where, once again, backlash kicks in.

That’s a really good point. @ryan where was the Box Office when you went. It’s been in three different places when I’ve been. Although calling it an ‘Office’ now is a big push. Box Desk probably covers the last incarnation I saw.

If something is great, it's great, regardless of how old it is 😁 See, I think it’s different for people like us (I’m 36) who grew up as children without the internet and a never ending choice of TV channels. A lot of my love of movie musicals did come from my mum, but everything else came from the old movies they would show on TV on Sunday mornings on BBC 2. The other channels would be showing religious programming, Formula 1 and Horse Racing, so “anything else” was just the default we would go to as kids. I’m sure if at the age of 8 I had the choice to see a current film over an old one I would have taken it, but I’m pretty thankful now that it contributed to my general knowledge of popular culture.

The Wizard of Oz, Sunset Boulevard, Psycho, Mary Poppins to name a few are some of my all time favourites, not to even go into the Disney catalogue! And Heathers is a fabulous film (even though I was no where near born the time it came out hahaha)

This is all quite exhausting! Can't keep up. This is why Twitter does my head in and I stay away from it. People just seem spend all their time slagging people off or replying to said slaggings! Life is too short, people 😁

Soooo, back to the subject matter. Has anyone managed to secure any cheap tickets for this? Because at a quick glance, I can't find any.

You might get lucky with the odd date here and there but it's pretty much just the overpriced ones left now! 😁

Soooo, back to the subject matter. Has anyone managed to secure any cheap tickets for this? Because at a quick glance, I can't find any. I managed to find a £25 one around 2:30pm on the day of release but that involved me searching through every date available. When I booked it seemed there was only that 1 £25 and two £37.50 seats available, all the others were over £50.

1000 extra tickets being released at 10am tomorrow across all price bands, starting at £25.
Not sure if it's extra dates or seats that have been on hold...I assume the former.

Ben Cracknell isn't a Kenwright boy. I know his work very well. He always does the lighting for Curve productions and did The Addams Family and Young Frankenstein too. I know of hardly any Kenwright he has done. I have no clue about the others.

It was a more of a "Bill picked em or strongly recommended them", not meant as a slight but a slight explanation to where the all male creative team has come from. Ben Cracknell has worked with Kenwrights on La Cage and I think they were a commercial producer on some of the regional stuff that had a later life. Dan Samson has done a ton including Sound of Music and Jesus Christ Superstar and Cilla, Gary Lloyd worked on Carrie and Fame, Gary Hickeson on Cilla and Sound of Music, though Will Burton is PTM's usual casting director, and David Shields has worked a lot with PTM as well. I guess my comment really should have been "Sadly they've has played it very safe and brought in people they know."

As well as 1000 extra tickets released tomorrow, starting from June 1st more tickets will be released every Friday Crazy. They have probably only sold about half the tickets across the entire run and make this announcement all over social media like it’s a brilliant thing they are doing for people who missed out. Ridiculous marketing

Initially missed out getting tickets under £30 and now I see there are more up. Question is.... what is better between partially restricted side B (4 seats in) or back row middle listed as overhang may obscure?

So I'm guessing a lot of people bought more expensive tickets than they wanted to due to lack of availability at the lower price brackets - I'm sure they're going to be massively happy at this news!

Thanks for the heads-up, I've taken a row B ticket at the side. I could've gone for the back, because I think the theatre has a decent rake and good views all the way back, but I do prefer to be closer if possible. The only time sitting at the side was a real problem for me was Urinetown, because it meant there were spotlights shining directly into my face, but I've never had any other issues being round to the side. There's a risk they might put in a proscenium or put bits of set in the way, but the latter is more of a problem for people in row A than row B, as a general rule.

Question is.... what is better between partially restricted side B (4 seats in) or back row middle listed as overhang may obscure? I just grabbed a row B, few seats in. Sat in a very similar seat for Big Fish and the view was excellent. Obviously we don't know what the set design is like, so it is a risk, but you're close to the action, only at a slight angle and pretty level with the stage. Glad I held out last week and didn't jump on the premium tickets.

Ridiculous marketing it does appear to have been quite a messy announcement/booking what with the social media controversies. Perhaps this was to combat the backlash of people not being able to get a ticket? (Although they sold lots of tickets i didnt think it was a sell out) But this does seem like a good point to make. If I had forked out more money than I wanted to to then only a week later hear theyre releasing more tickets at an affordable price, id be annoyed!
