I'm watching too. I get the impression that many of the celebs who appear on this show have never actually watched it.
But you cannot call Sir Tim thick. Off to the tower with you!

Oh god, they r actors! How the hell do they know NO films by David Lynch or Croenberg!? Embarrassing! Many actors have not much interest in theatre in general - for example RSC stalwart Patrick Stewart had only ever seen one production of Macbeth before he appeared in it himself at a quite advanced age.

A lot of actors don't even watch the films they are in!

Almost like a busman's holiday to watch others perform, a lot may prefer to have interests away from the "day job". Plus if they are working then the chance to see other shows may be limited.

The more unusual thing is an actor who is often out watching plays he's not associated with, the late Alan Rickman being the notable example.

If it's the episode I think you're talking about, my mum now knows Kerry Ellis as the woman who has no idea how to play Pointless. She says "I want to say abc but I don't know if anyone will have heard of it" at one point (the aim of Pointless IS for nobody to have heard of it Kezza), and then later on, "I just hope somebody's said it!" From that point on Alexander Armstrong barely spoke to Kerry, and when he did, he'd interrupt her after about 3 seconds to stop her being able to say too much Who would go on a game show without researching the rules first?

Although Tim Rice did write the lyrics to Heathcliffe ... .........and wasn't that a walkin' talkin' livin' dull..... When I saw Heathcliff in Birmingham in the 1990s I turned to the girl next to me at the interval. "Am I the only one to think this isn't very good?". Cue Cliff acolyte; "Must be." Cue frosty second half. Oh well...

Just noticed that this evening's edition (6.35) features musical theatre people again. Tim Rice, Don Black, Siobhan Dillon, Nigel Planer and others.

One of the categories in yesterday's final was about the land of Oz and one of the questions was songs on the OBCR of Wicked. I think only Defying Gravity and The Wizard and I scored points everything else was pointless. An easy question for anyone on this board.
Am looking fwd to tonight's new musicals edition.

Last night's Pointless had Wizard and I, Popular, Defying Gravity and No Good Deed as point scoring answers but everything else was Pointless.
I'm enjoying tonight's episode a lot, it was a bit embarrassing how Alexander and Richard sucked up to Don Black and Sir Tim Rice so much though. Poor Connie Fisher sounded hoarse though, but I suppose that's permanent for her now sadly.
How many of the Best Actor Olivier Award winners did everyone know?

I thought Phil Jupitus let them have the point by saying 101 Dalmations.
