Any news on this new role yet?
Only three months left of the sister act tour now.
Wouldn't it be released soon?

Announced for this years Strictly! The Alexandra mystery is over Good for her. It'll be interesting to see what her next step is afterwards...

She'll probably have a good chance of making the Strictly tour if she lasts a decent length of time on the series given a lot of other contestants have ongoing roles and having done concert/theatre tours the Strictly tour would likely appeal to her.

The mystery of what Alexandra is up to next is solved. The mystery of what the West End takeover role that would have been a historical first was going to be will forever be lost to the mists of time.

Yes so sad to hear about the death of Alexandra's mother. I hope she does her proud in Strictly.

Very sad news about Alex's mum passing away, she had ongoing health issues but was no age at all. Great shame she never got to see Alex do Strictly but Alex has done her proud already.
Our thoughts are with Alex and her family of course.

Yes she has done her proud already and I hope she can focus and dedicate her Strictly performance to her mothers' memory.

I wonder if it’s the whole reality show thing that people object to. Especially the fact that she actually had the nerve to go and win The X Factor because that’s generally the kiss of death to long-standing popularity isn’t it? The whole thing about it being ‘the British way’ to cheer for the underdog is all well and good but this country does not like it when people are perceived to be getting “too big for their boots” so we also seek to topple the actual winners from their high horses and gleefully watch them getting trampled on the floor. It’s a very odd mindset that the media totally plays to.
I thought she was great in The Bodyguard although she didn’t possess that starry gloss that portraying an international superstar really needed. I don’t think that would be an issue now because she looks every inch the part. I thought she was disappointing in Sister Act when I saw it at the start of the tour. I think she’s marvellous in SCD but I do think there’s something about how she interacts with the judges and in the interviews that gives ammunition to her critics. And I agree that it’s looking like she won’t win now, but this exposure will do her no harm if she plans to carry on in MT which seems likely to be her niche.

My issue with Alexandra is fairly simple - I thought she was terrible in Sister Act, couldn't understand a word she sang and ended up wishing I'd left at the interval. As it ruined a night out I'd been really looking forward to I haven't forgiven her, and I'd enjoy Strictly more if she wasn't in it. Not exactly something I'd imagine keeps her up at night!

I think it's just she isn't that likeable or sincere (and has always had that problem since xfactor) plus she hasn't improved, if anything she has got slightly worse. The people who start out very good rarely win, people like to get involved with someone's 'journey' and also someone who has advanced and improved is arguably more deserving than someone who hasnt

She is an emotional and dramatic person (and she can be OTT at times) for sure, but for me at least, it's genuine emotion and unless we've had close dealings with her, I'm inclined to give her the benefit of the doubt. It's nice to see Jon Robyns, Sandy Grigelis, Sarah Goggin, Tristan Gemmill and Rachel John have been on Twitter to defend her and stress how genuine she is. If she was a not nice person, I sincerely doubt they would bother.

It reminds me a bit of the Big Brother fandom, where "X is so fake" meant "I dislike X for reasons I'm too stupid to put into words".

I've met her a number of times and she is exactly as she comes across on Strictly, so if she is fake, it is one hell of an act.

Borrowed these quotes from Popjustice; good to see her getting kudos for her turn as Svetlana.
The Guardian
There are some great songs – most notably I Know Him So Well, which is beautifully delivered by Janson and Burke. The latter brings musical and emotional light and shade to an underwritten role which predominantly requires her to stare into the middle distance and look sad.
Evening Standard
Michael Ball as Anatoly gets to close the first half with the poignant song Anthem, yet feels underused, and so does Alexandra Burke, whose dignified and passionate Svetlana barely appears until the second half.
The Independent
Alexandra Burke has been given a new song “He is a Man, he is a Child” (from the Swedish-language version) to beef up the underwritten role of the Russian's discarded wife and her soulful renderings brings a pained authority to this woman's emotional confusion and she duets plangently with Cassidy Janson as Florence on the classic “I Know Him So Well”.
Express
Alexandra Burke keeps her megawatt star power just about under wraps as the discarded Svetlana, including a beautiful Someone's Else's Story, but also holds her own alongside the seasoned veterans in the epics group numbers.
The Stage
The only consistently decent performance is from Alexandra Burke as Svetlana, although she barely features in Act I and has a supplementary song to give her more to do – He Is A Man, He Is A Child from a 2002 depoliticised Swedish-language version of the show.

Just had a text from Ticketmaster to say that Alexandra's tour has been cancelled and refunds are being issued - anyone know why?

Official line is Scheduling Issues, I'd be interested to know what ticket sales were like if I was being cynical.
Celebrity Big Brother might be on at that time, so might she have had a big offer from that?

A number of the dates had sold pretty well; there were only a handful of tickets left for the Palladium.
Apparently she has another musical theater role in the pipeline, so I guess it could be rehearsal time for that...
I would be surprised if she ventured into the Big Brother house considering how marmite she was on Strictly. There was also talk of her judging on X Factor but I think that's unlikely too.

Sounds like a bad case of diary management. Surely you don't commit to something unless you are sure you are going to do it (excepting illness or unforseen circumatances). It's a bit unprofessional especially when venues booked and people have paid for tickets.
