Proms favourite John Wilson returns with his orchestra for the first European performance of the recently re-constructed stage orchestration of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Oklahoma!

I see they're going to Wilton's for one (actually two) of their off-site performances.
But yes, Oklahoma for sure, plus The Planets... maybe a couple of others.

The John Williams prom will probably be good too but will be plagued by Harry Potter freaks.

Might also give the Phillip Glass one a go. Proper bit of culture.

Oklahoma will sell out in minutes, but it's in my planner anyway in case I get lucky! I always seem to end up booking Holst and Dvorak, and will probably also attempt to get tickets for the Vienna Phil and Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.

So anyone else going to be sat in front of their computer at 9am this morning trying to get Proms tickets? My average length of wait in the queue is about 3 hours so thats my morning sorted. Hence on my way now to the supermarket at 6am to do my shopping....

Yes, three hours is about average. It's complicated for me because I'm off to see Occupational Hazards at Hampstead so it's an early train and then log on at the NT (usually excellent Wi Fi) and then a boring wait. However, if you are prepared for a 3 hour wait you usually get what you want.
I really hate the booking system though with all that Proms planner b*ll*cks and no way of choosing a seat.

I suppose it has to be that way considering the volume of traffic they will have and allowing people to choose their own seats would slow the whole process down. Look what happened when Hamilton went on sale. Started letting you choose your seats and they abandoned it after about 10 minutes. And that was nothing like the demand there will be for proms. I shall be multi tasking whilst waiting and trying to book a holiday at the same time. So not a stressful morning at all.....

My first experience of Proms booking, currently in the queue at number 2457 - trying to finish a tricky jigsaw puzzle while I wait (lots of blue sky).

For example, 'your visit' email from Chichester tells me the bad news that Chichcester Council have extended payment hours at the Northgate car park to 8pm but the good news that you can now pay by phone... hallelujah! App downloaded, registered, ready to roll

Thrilled that I got in after less than 40 mins of queuing & got a ticket for Oklahoma exactly where I wanted, in the side stalls. Usually it takes 3+ hours of queuing. I'm evidently lucky this year!

Likewise - my Side Stalls tickets are a little closer to the stage than I'd have chosen myself, sideways view, but got all three I wanted including Oklahoma and all done and dusted by 9.45am

Overslept my alarm so didn't get in the queue until 9.30, but straight into the waiting room and currently about 9000th in the queue. Only problem is I have to go out in an hour and won't be back until after 3pm, so I suspect I'll just be looking at the remnants later on and hoping the ones I want are still available even though I know the John Williams Prom and the Vienna Phil won't be!

I didn't have a chance to oversleep. Our DIY-addicted next door neighbours started drilling at 8.20am. Who needs an alarm clock!

Oklahoma tickets all booked by 10. Can only afford the cheapies but at least I'm in and much less stressful this year as I wasn't trying to book from a day seat queue!

When I was at the Bernstein Prom 2 years ago some of the lyrics were much less intelligble live in the hall as they were when watching it back when it was subsequently on TV. However as I, and probably everyone else going, already know Oklahoma's songs pretty well hopefully it won't matter as much this time. The only time I've seen Oklahoma live was a small local production when I was 7 so I thought it was about time I saw it again. Now fingers crossed for a good cast. As it looks like a number of us have been lucky on the Oklahoma ticket front, maybe we should arrance a board meet-up on the day?

The only thing that worries me about Oklahoma is that the prospectus gives it a running time of 3 and a half hours. Even with the generous interval time at the Proms that's going some! Let's hope that's down to extra music that JW has unearthed because I've always found the dialogue and plot in general, tiresome.
