I've been lucky enough to have met hundreds of actors over many years as a volunteer in the theatre and also working as production assistant. I can't say I have come across anyone who stood out as being rude (maybe I was lucky) but I do have some favourites who are absolutely lovely and include: Cynthia Erivo Sheridan Smith Anna Jane Casey Damian Humbley Alexander Hanson Jamie Parker Matthew Horne Curious, one of the names on your list is one of the worst people in terms of behaviour that I have met in a theatre context. Interesting, Would love to know who it was if you fancy sending me a private message.

I've been very lucky to work with or encounter a lot of fellow performers over the years so will restrict myself to the very nicest and the very rudest: LOVELY Judi Dench, Angela Lansbury, Gyles Brandreth, Simon Russell Beale, Anita Harris, Jonathan Pryce NOT SO LOVELY Nigel Havers, Jenni Eclair, Sue Perkins, Jeremy Irons, Nigel Havers Havers must really bad He is. I don't know anyone that has worked with him - unless they themselves are a name - who has a good word to say about him. Treats people like sh*t on his shoe. I know of one theatre where the CEO overheard him being so vile to and swearing at a member of staff that he berated him in front of the staff who were there and told him that once the run was over he would never have any production in which he was cast back at his theatre. And he stuck to it, even though he'd been there previously with great ticket sales more than once. Oddly enough was speaking to a friend in TV production yesterday who had recently encountered Havers and said how unpleasant he was. His best work is clearly playing "Nigel Havers, Charming Actor" for the viewing public.

Curious, one of the names on your list is one of the worst people in terms of behaviour that I have met in a theatre context. Sheridan? That would match my experience

I took my parents, both in their 80's at the time, to see one of Trevor Nunn's Hollywood Musicals at the NT when he was there. He walked across the foyer and my mother thanked him for his musicals. He was so charming, he hoped they would enjoy tonight's performance and thanked them for coming. Kenneth Cranham came to my Theatre Studies class he was wonderful. He would make a great one man show, he had so many stories and was so interesting. You are the people that pay my wages he said. He did like playing at the NT but said he was on Equity minimum there, along with the rest of the cast, and had to pay to park there.

I’ve never met her but I think Will Mellor’s comments are eye-opening.

Have a google, the story’s on multiple sites online. I know people drift apart, but it seems at odds with the public persona she’s built up of being everybody’s BFF.

I've worked with many actors, almost all of them a pleasure to work with. One whom I've been thinking of recently who went above and beyond in terms of kindness and consideration was Constance Towers. Is she remembered here?

I looked and couldn't find anything? She's doesn't want to do a reunion of their comedy was best I got that's basically it. Here's a quote from the Daily Mirror: "Strictly Come Dancing star Will, 46, claims that their friendship didn't last off-screen, alleging that his phone calls to Sheridan, 41, went unanswered for years. "I don't know what happened, she won't reply to my calls or text messages at all," Will, who played Gaz in the long-running show, told The Morning After With Paul Danan podcast in May 2020. And despite being keen to get his cast mates back together for a reunion, Will said he was scuppered by Sheridan, insisting he wouldn't do it without her."

I wish I hadn’t said anything now, but FWIW… From that same article:
“ Late last year, Will - who found fame as Jambo in Hollyoaks - claimed their estrangement was ongoing and was further solidified when Sheridan allegedly didn't reach out following the sudden death of his father Bill in April 2020, although sources say Sheridan and Will are now back in contact.
The last time Will saw his dad, they heartbreakingly couldn't hug because of Covid restrictions. Bill died just weeks later from lung cancer that had spread to his brain.
Touching on his friendship with Sheridan, who played Janet in Two Pints, Will claimed that he offered his support when her dad died from cancer in December 2016, and realised where their friendship was at when she apparently didn't do the same.
"I haven't spoken to her in about six years. I tried calling her for about a year but she never got back to me," he told OK! magazine.
"I offered her my support when her father died, but she never reached out when my dad passed away, which was quite significant for me as we were very close and she knew my family. That said a lot to me."

Sounds like a bunch of luvvies being over sensitive combined with desperate showbiz media fluff reporting. She might have a very good reason for not wanting to be in touch, he might be a right plonker. Who knows, and more importantly who cares?

Sheridan Smith and Michael Ball - so sweet. All the OBC of Come From Away. Robert Lindsay Samantha Barks and Andy Karl (OBC Pretty Woman!) Brian Conley, (gave me a high five whilst I was working!) Marisha Wallace, Bonnie Langford, Katherine McPhee, David Hunter, Lucie Jones Jason Robert Brown signed my Parade score too! Alistair McGowan is the rudest person I've ever met, such an attitude problem (16 years ago!)

I used to do radio interviews with various theatre types for the BBC. My worst experiences were with Dillie Keane of Fascinating Aida who was affronted at being asked to tell us a bit about FA for those who hadn't encountered them in the past.
The other was with Ellen Kent, the Opera producer, who was doing the interview from the middle of a boozy lunch. She was live on air ordering more white wine for her table!

To add some positivity to the mix, I have met some delightful theatre and arts types
Michael Ball was lovely. As were Miriam Margolyes and Zoe Wanamaker.
I was warned in advance about Boy George and Danny Boyle. But both were charming and easy to talk to.

She might even have had a change of phone number and simply not realised that she was missing calls. sh*t like that happens all the time to normal people.

Amazes me fans think they're really getting to know someone in a stage door encounter I remember meeting Sheridan after Legally Blonde. She was chatting to everyone, we were some of the last there to meet her after a matinee and she stayed chatting for ages and was so lovely. I don’t get any notion why you’d “fake” that - you could simply sign, smile, exchange a word or two and then move on otherwise.

For several years, I was the 'theatre guru' for my local BBC radio station. I would line up 3 guests for a once a month segment talking about shows/events coming up in the county. It was a mixture of local groups and touring productions.
So I would talk to local theatres to see what they wanted to promote and put together a half hour of air time. I would then go in and share the questioning with the BBC presenter.
Sadly I never got paid for this!!
