Honestly, call yourselves theatre fans? Why aren't we happy with an onstage costume change and a talented actress belting out the big number anymore?

The second that dress change happened I was completely transfixed and in awe, not even bitter about the ice castle anymore

The second that dress change happened I was completely transfixed and in awe, not even bitter about the ice castle anymore I am... and whoever edited that video badly to ruin the precise second she does the costume change needs to be shot! Crazy Disney allowed it though smart they released the official staging of the song rather than bootlegs.

This supposed to be terrible ? No one is saying it is terrible. WE ARE saying though that it’s a shame to have an empty stage and to just rely on projections and lighting. Look up the Shanghai singalong show - as many people have said even that looks better. The song is about realising her powers, letting it all go and her huge ice castle rises from the mountains. The Broadway show fails to do this and in comparison to Pride Rock in Lion King to the flying in Mary Poppins - it just doesn’t reach the epic staging level many expected. That is the issue. We expected more NOT less!

*Some* people are bizarrely hung up on the lack of a hydraulic castle. The rest of us are perfectly happy with it the way it is and don't appreciate being included in the "we" of "we are disappointed".

The most successful animation of all time reaches the stage and we are so passionate about theatre and stagecraft. That’s not bizarre at all. Plus I understand many might not care but dozens I know are highly dissapointed - including some in the actual cast!

I'm also kinda inclined to say if you want it to look like a Disneyland parade....go to Disneyland? Anyway as above. Basic bitch. Bit of sequin and a gal doing a belt, I'm sold.

This musical will do well I can predict it will still be playing in 5 years time. I'm off to New York in January and have already booked my tickets for this as this will probably be my first ever broadway show, unless I see something on the Thursday night really looking forward to this still hoping the original cast are still in it by the time I go. Will post my review on this thread after I've seen it.

For what it is, I think it was fine. It starts really strong until Elsa loses her sh*t, then it starts getting messy. Let It Go was slightly underwhelming, and looked so much better on The View. I did not know what the heck was happening in Colder By the Minute. A lot of sloppy let's get this resolved at the last minute (The Duke, Hans, etc). Patti so much better than I expected, and I actually enjoyed seeing her on the stage. Caissie sings her tits off but she basically "sangry" (sad + angry) all the time and could be quite dull. It's alright. Better than Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast and Lion King but not better than Anastasia.

Saw this last night and have to say I largely loved it. I really don’t get the anger towards the lack of a castle - it didn’t feel like it needed it at all. The designs throughout are great - it has that really dynamic, constantly moving feel to it; and blends projection and physical set really well. Caissie Levy sings the hell out of those songs - yes it’s not the most amazing performance but she was absolutely note perfect. Patti very strong and, as in the film, is ultimately the lead here. As others have mentioned it, I didn’t mind the opening to act two, but the two young girls in front of me had incredibly sour faces and didn’t really know where to look.
Ultimately I’m very glad I saw this over here! And as said above this is vastly superior to Aladdin. I didn’t see BatB so can’t compare to that, but I’d also say it beats Lion King for me too.

Saw this yesterday. Mixed emotions - there is such a varied level of quality in this show it is ridiculous. For The First time In Forever was beautiful - incredibly executed, brought a tear to my eye. This is proper Broadway standard. But then the ending felt like a cheaper Disneyland version of the show, still well executed but the old saying about polishing a turd comes to mind.
Fantastic cast - but parts of the book/score let this show down overall for me.

Some Pro-Trump asshole attempted to interrupt Curtain Call at a recent performance by holding a flag at the front of the stsge saying "Vote Trump". But cast member Timothy Hughes was having none of it, and as soon as the flag was raised he snatched it and threw it backstage and bowed as if nothing happened, with the guy clearly pissed at him. Video of the incident and report below.
Bravo Timothy for doing this, what a disrespectful man, both for his actions at this performance and, well, his views all together.

Finally saw this last night. Well I have to say it was sweet and had nice music and singing - but really, it was a totally missed opportunity.
Apart from the cool reindeer the production should have been EPIC but sadly wasn’t. The show was full of corny jokes, colour blind casting gone gaga (understudy issues with white child/black adult), an average set, 70’s cheap glitter curtains, the Olaf puppet didn’t work, at times panto-esque and the tickets cost a million dollars.
6/10 It left us both rather cold. zzzzzzzzzz

On another note now I saw this finally on Broadway - I have no care if it comes to the West End or not. Such a missed opportunity.

So I've just seen this completely and utterly legally and I must say, I certainly enjoyed it. The design and score is clearly the best part of the show, and the two girls are amazing. I found the worst parts were Olaf who was just annoying and that jumpsuit Cassie wears in Act 2 was awful. But Let it Go was amazing, that dress change was everything!

I found the worst parts were Olaf who was just annoying (Obvious joke) So just like the movie, then. Although I have to admit that one of my favourite parts of the film was the off-screen voice screaming "Argh! It's alive!"

Cheeky but of gender swapping, Ryann Redmond set to take over as Olaf! Also, Joe Carroll will join the show as Hans, replacing John Riddle, with current cast member Noah J. Ricketts taking over the role of Kristoff. Disney has also announced that beginning on February 19 the role of Sven will be shared equally by current star Andrew Pirozzi and alternate Adam Jepsen, with each actor playing four performances a week. www.broadway.com/buzz/194603/frozen-announces-casting-gender-swap-ryann-redmond-to-play-olaf/

Cheeky but of gender swapping, Ryann Redmond set to take over as Olaf! After saying she had news that would be announced "next week," Ryann Redmond whispered what it was to host Ben Cameron during one event at BroadwayCon. His face was amazing and I understand why now.
