This 'musical list' seems to have started doing the rounds on my facebook, so thought I'd bring it over here for some bank holiday theatre fun (and no doubt some heated discussions along the way)!
It's all been musicals that I've seen so far, but if you'd rather do a 'play' list, go ahead!
Here's mine:

Musical I think is underrated: The Threepenny Opera
Musical I cherish: Sweeney Todd
Musical I think is overrated: The Lion King
Musical I hate: Oklahoma! (bearing in mind it was an amdram from when I was 10 - but still had no desire to see or listen to it since)
Musical I sob through: Blood Brothers (I never cry, but I was so close here)
Musical that keeps me laughing: Avenue Q
Musical I could listen to on repeat: Michael Ball and Imelda Staunton in Sweeney Todd (generally, but at the moment School of Rock)
Musical with songs I skip: The Phantom of the Opera
Guilty pleasure musical: Shrek
Game changer musical: Matilda (wanted to chose something other than Hamilton)
Musical I'm most excited to see: Young Frankenstein (pretty much waited 10 years for this! - plus I know Hamilton will be virtually impossible)

Musical that keeps me laughing: every Showstopper one I've seen (is this cheating?)
Musical I could listen to on repeat: Chess
Musical with songs I skip: all of them, I can't think if a single musical where I love every song equally
Guilty pleasure musical: Mamma Mia & Legally Blonde
Game changer musical: Show Boat (well, it was back in the 1920s)
Musical I'm most excited to see: I guess Half A Sixpence is currently top of my Need To See list

Musical I love: Candide - it is far from perfect and has never found a finished form, but it is just wonderful
Musical I think is underrated: Our House - the best of the jukebox genre by a long way. Martin Guerre (original, unrevised version only) would be a close second.
Musical I cherish: Brigadoon - I have never seen it live but the score is simply wonderful
Musical I think is overrated: The Lion King. I think it is a great spectacle but the score just doesn't cut it for me
Musical I hate: The Sound of Music - it is a potentially interesting story ruined by schmaltz
Musical I sob through: Merrily We Roll Along gets me every time. And I always sob at the end of Blood Brothers.
Musical that keeps me laughing: Forbidden Broadway - pretty much every version has comic gems
Musical I could listen to on repeat: Many - but I like change!
Musical with songs I skip: There are duds in most scores.
Guilty pleasure musical: La Cage aux Folles - not really that guilty!
Game changer musical: Show Boat or West Side Story - each changed MT for future generations
Musical I'm most excited to see: Something really fresh and new - but there is nothing on the list at the moment.

Some of these choices were really tough, but here's my list!
Musical I love: Wicked
Musical I think is underrated: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (the West End version)
Musical I cherish: The Phantom of the Opera (I cherish the memory of performing in a University Production, rather than a memory of actually seeing the show)
Musical I think is overrated: The Lion King (film is great, but the stage version really disappointed me)
Musical I hate: I don't think I've ever actually hated a musical, but the show I've enjoyed the least has been wonder.land (the one by Damon Albarn)
Musical I sob through: bare: A Pop Opera (nb NOT bare: the musical)
Musical that keeps me laughing: The Book of Mormon
Musical I could listen to on repeat: Sunset Boulevard (ALW's most luscious score in my opinion)
Musical with songs I skip: Heathers
Guilty pleasure musical: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat
Game changer musical: 42nd Street (maybe not a game changer in the historical sense, but it certainly is for me as the first time I had seen such a spectacle on stage)

Musical with songs I skip: I skip songs from most musicals. If I've bought the soundtrack, it's a good sign though.
Guilty pleasure musical: As long as it's legal, why should I feel guilty about it?!
Game changer musical: Tough one. Will have a think.
Musical I'm most excited to see: Maybe Hamilton but I'm really not that excited about it. Nothing else that is confirmed is getting me going though.
Special Mention: In The Heights - didn't fit into any of the categories above but it's very high on my list.

Play I love: Richard III - Shakespeare
Play I think is underrated: Murder in the Cathedral - Eliot
Play I cherish: The History Boys - Bennett
Play I think is overrated: I used to think this about anything by Pinter - but now having seen it done well, I have changed my mind completely! I think that Stoppard falls into this category - too clever for his own good.
Play I hate: Not the play itself - but the RSC/Wooster production of Troilus and Cressida has to be the worst piece of professional theatre I have ever seen. All the fault of the production - not Shakespeare
Play I sob through: The Laramie Project - Tectonic Theatre Project
Play that keeps me laughing: My Night with Reg - Elyot
Guilty pleasure Play: A good Ayckbourn - something like Season's Greetings
Game changer Play: Very difficult - but it could be between Nicholas Nickleby - Edgar (the epic scope of the adaptation) and Jerusalem - Butterworth (a modern play that captured the imagination)
Play I'm most excited to see: The Normal Heart - Kramer or The Lieutenant of Inishmore - McDonagh
Play I wish was kept away from the stage for the next 10 years: A Midsummer Night's Dream - Shakespeare

I agree with 4.48 Psychosis. We did a production with that script for out A Level final piece. We did it in the round, dressed as monks. The audience sat on the floor and we had pornography projected on the ceiling, masturbation with a cross, mounting audience members and dropping our robes at the end and dancing around the outer of the audience naked whilst lighting candles around them. We got an A*
The great thing about that piece is you can do literslly anytjing with it, it is all based on interpretation of the words as there is no stage directions or right way to direct it!
