Seeing Joseph back in 1991 sparked a lifelong love of theatre, and musical theatre in particular. So glad to hear they are doing a celebration for the 50th anniversary!

Traice getting the chance to perform her solo is hopefully a hint she will win her catagory too.

Hello everyone,
Just a question about the Red Carpet... Do any of you know what time people have started to queue for the wristbands? Also how many wristbands they have to give out? I'm hoping to go this year and its my first time doing it. All help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The tv schedules have now been published, and the Olivier Awards are not broadcast by ITV until 10.20pm, running through to the wee small hours. I'll have to ask mummy and daddy if I can stay up late.

Even cast members agree with us. Does anyone else get the urge to do a Bruce Forsyth impression every time they look at this Tweeter?

The four musical performance catagories are just a question mark for me, and I keep switching between people. But I think, for me anyway, I'm safe in assuming who will win will be:
Actor in a Musical: John McCrea (Everybody's Talking About Jamie) Actress in a Musical: Janie Dee (Follies) Supporting Actor in a Musical: Jason Pennycooke (Hamilton) Supporting Actress in a Musical: Tracie Bennett (Follies)
However, who I want to win:
Actor in a Musical: John McCrea (Everybody's Talking About Jamie) Actress in a Musical: Janie Dee (Follies) or Shirley Henderson (Girl From the North Country) Supporting Actor in a Musical: Ross Noble (Young Frankenstein) - I haven't seen Hamiltonnso can't say anyone else. Supporting Actress in a Musical: Tracie Bennett (Follies) or Rachel John (Hamilton) - but just because shes Rachel John, again yet to see Hamilton.

I hope tracie doesn’t win...I mean she was good but there’s better in the category in my opinion. Sheila Atim or Rachel John should get it - they’re both amazing. Would like to see Sheila get it as she’s a newcomer and this would boost her career loads and she seems so sweet but also Rachel John is Rachel John and she could never get an Olivier Nom again so it would be good to see her win too...Hamilton really has made her quite famous

None of the Hamilton actors deserve to win when you compare their roles with others they are up against.
I suspect Hamilton will end up walking away with only a few awards at best- maybe just Best Musical and Choreography
I didn’t rate it but I think Follies will was away with the most awards.

Ross Noble doesn't really deserve to win. I agree all three of the supporting Hamilton guys are forgettable but one of them has to be better than him hobbling around the stage putting on a stupid voice.

None of the Hamilton actors deserve to win when you compare their roles with others they are up against. In your opinion. Personally I think Giles Terera does deserve it even based on your comparison of performances. The wrong people were nominated in the Supporting Actor but I think Rachel John is deserving in the Supporting Actress category (especially having seen her give an even stronger performance this week than she did when I saw her back in December), though that category is difficult to call and I expect she won't win.

I think the only one out of the conversation is Lesley who was fabukous but no one seems to be mentioning her. Shelia has the newcomer factor that could play in her favor. Rachel is someone who has worked for ages and finally got a break and is apparently great so thst works for her. And Tracie is Tracie. Enough said. She was amaing in the show and she is an Oliviers favourite, both her Oliviers are for this catagory. That could play in her favor.
Based on that, I won't be surprised to see Tracie take her third. If not her, it will be Rachel I imagine.

What time is the live ceremony? Going to keep off social media and watch the ITV broadcast “as live” (although I know it will be edited)

There’s so,e Backstage Interval show at 7pm too on their Facebook page. i don’t like that you have to go to Facebook for these things. Why not just their own website? I’m not on Facebook.

Best New Musical - Hamilton (but hoping for a Jamie upset...it could just do it) Best New Play - The Ferryman (please let their speeches be shorter than the play) Best New Comedy- Labour of Love Entertainment or Family- Dick Whittington (loves some Dick does Larry) Affiliate- Killogloy (if only to see Gary Owen trying to escape any press) Best Costume- Follies Best Director - Marianne Elliot - Angels In America
Best Actress - Imelda Staunton - Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf (don't rattle your ice while she accepts) Best Actor - Andrew Garfield-Angels in America (I'm all for an Andrews cat fight over this) Best Actress (Supporting) - Denise Cough - Angels In America
Best Actor (Supporting) - James Mcardle - Angels In America (I will cry) Best Revival - Angels in America (I will be having words if not) Best Actress in a Musical - Janie Dee - (or she'll belt in your face) Best Actor in a Musical - John McCrea (Everyone Is Talking About Jamie)
Best Musical Revival - Follies (Imelda will be having words if not) Choreography- Hamilton (the most deserving of winners for that IMO) Best Actress in a Supporting Role in a Musical -Tracie Bennett- Follies Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a Musical - Cleve September - Hamilton
I think Follies and Ham will sweep the Musicals. BUT I'm rooting for a Jamie upset. Let that Queen sweep in with a cloud of glitter. (I love Hamilton in it's way but I would truly love a new British musical and a crowd of old theatre Dames to come in an knock it off it's perch.)
Obviously for me there's only one play I'm cheering for (although Ferryman aside I love all the other play nominees). Fittingly a year ago I was lurking in a rehearsal for Angels getting my first sneak peak. And look at those crazy kids now...

As long as 42nd Street wins Costume Design (because lets be real!), then Follies and Hanilton can do what they want.

I thought Follies was overrated. It was good but I got a little bored and have seen better. The 42nd Street set deserved a nomination over this. I’d like to see Rachel win becuaee she’s worked for ages now and finally people are recognising her..her social media following has grown so much since she joined Hamilton. Sheila is so sweet too though and a brand new newcomer. Tracie could win though as, like people said, she is an Olivier favourite. Shame as she’s already won one and I thought Rachel was better

So we know Hamilton is nominated for 13 but can only win 10 of those due to multiple actors. Matilda holds the record for most for a musical with 7 and Potter holds the overall record with 9. To break the record, it will have to win all of its nominated catagories.
It may just have to accept most nominated haha.

Best Actress (Supporting) - Denise Cough - Angels In America Is this a nickname I haven't heard, or just a typo? It made me laugh, either way.
