Today has started quite well - lovely day, have come up to town for a matinee and ended up in GBK for lunch. Had a 'free side' offer so decided to treat myself to some sweet potato fries with my bunless burger and Diet Coke. Pre-diet I would happily have finished off a burger in a bun with fries and a milkshake. Today I can't even get half way through my sweet potato fries and feel stuffed. It looks like my appetite has genuinely shrunk!
I'm seeing The Treatment this afternoon.

Could anyone suggest a decent music player for an android phone? I got a new phone this week (Huawei) and its internal music player completely sucks as it lists songs alphabetically and doesn't let you arrange your playlists to your liking. I've found a few music players that are half-way decent but I miss my old phone's music player which would let me select several songs at once to move into a new play list and arrange the play list in whatever way I liked. I'd be willing to pay for a decent app. Suggestions from fellow musical lovers who undoubtedly arrange their showtunes into various playlists too, would be welcome... I've given up and gone whole hog into Amazon Music. I pay the monthly subscription and everything, but you don't have to be a subscriber to use it, and it's pretty easy to make custom playlists and arrange them to my liking (and of course it gives you the option to play albums, artists, and genres if you don't want to listen to everything but need a quick way to narrow things down).

I passed* a genuine steam-powered steam roller today. Not the sort of thing you expect to see on the road.
* As in overtook, not excreted.

I do have Spotify on my laptop(s) which I use similarly, but I have a limited data plan on my phone, so hours of streaming every day is not really an option. I'm also really old-fashioned and still buy CDs of new cast recordings "just to have them", so I usually rip them to mp3s, then put favorite songs onto my phone. Eventually (when flatrate data stops being an extortionate rip off in Germany) I will probably make that step too as Spotify just puts millions of songs at my disposal.

Yeah, but you can use the Amazon Music app literally as just an offline music player for what's already on your phone. I wouldn't have suggested it if it was *only* suitable for streaming!

Where I live the shared sewer between the houses became blocked so someone had to come out and do the unpleasant job of clearing it. For the benefit of the innuendo-minded people here (you know who you are, as do we all) I'll describe it as having a bloke come round to shove a stiff rod in our poop pipe.

I download the playlists I want on Spotify to my phone when I have wi Fi access then set them to listen offline. Works for me

said: treated myself to Lemon and Lime Jaffa Cakes M&S sell Lemon and Lime Jaffa Cakes? This I didn't know. Thanks stefy69. Pleasure monkey, they are scrummy !!! Sucessfully acquired a packet at a very modest £1.05 for 12 in M&S Food Hall Tottenham Court Road on Saturday (for those looking, straight down the first aisle, third bay nearest the door, easy to find). "Scrummy" is an understatement, stefy69 . Thanks again . Little dark chocolate oblongs of pure sweet / sharp perfection. Noted they also do an "Orange and Mango" version, but as I don't like mango, I left it at that. Pleased they lived up to my hype monkey !

M & S should pay stefy69 commission with all this extra business! I've never liked Jaffa Cakes (I like real cake and as biscuits they are too pappy) but thought my OH would enjoy them so I got a packet of the lemon and lime for him. However he has yet to try them as when I offered them, he said he had just opened a box of Thornton's Continental Selection. I thought it was ladies who were presumed to loll on sofas stuffing their faces with chocolate but our household likes to confound the stereotypes and I must say he seemed to play the part of odalisque very convincingly.

At 8.44 I'm already ready to scream/cry/throw something....tipped over the edge by one too many condescending Headteachers who think I'm clearly nothing more than a dumb secretary. Sigh.
This after it being made quite clear I'm nothing but a temp by being left out of a 'future planning' meeting in work (actually I found that hilarious 'no no future or planning for you dear')
As ever does anyone want to wave their Harry Potter wand and help me find a new job?

Update: as if my day couldn't get worse, someone is bringing their new baby into the office and I'm going to have to try and pretend I know what to say in these situations. Usually I've only got 'It's a baby. Well done.'

But yes I'm clearly missing the gene that tells you what to say/do when presented with tiny human folk and their mothers.

It's at times like that [ only ever been maternal for my own] that I'm glad I can switch off my hearing aid.

I usually ask how they're sleeping, 'you must be so tired!'. That one question can get you off the hook for a good half hour, I find.

Nothing freaky about it, I have my daughter, wouldnt be without her but had she not arrived I would have been perfectly content.
