There's still time for people to say here what they would wish the NT to do in 2016. Rufus might read your wishes and rip up his prepared notes and announce that you've persuaded him to do whatever.

David Hare's doing a new version of The Red Barn, directed by Robert Icke. Not sure if that's been mentioned on here.

Besides "The Threepenny Opera", I remember that they had also announced "Sunset at Villa Thalia", written by Alexi Kaye Campbell and "The ploughman and the stars", written by Seán O'Casey and directed by Howard Davies.

Although as those have been announced already (not including The Red Barn), I'll be extremely disappointed if this morning's announcements focuses on them. Well, some casting would be handy too, I suppose. And I wouldn't say no to more children's shows, as long as they're a little more I Want My Hat Back and a little less wonder.land.

Wasn't Threepenny Opera mentioned ? With Rory Kinnear, wasn't it? Yes, that is right (which is a negative for me as I can't stand him: great actor, but after meeting him a few times around London, I got the impression that he is awfully full of himself).

This isn't the QUIZ thread, so no need to hazily recollect what's already been announced for the first half of 2016! What'd be good to see there for the rest of the year??
I'm afraid that I'm not expecting to be excited by any of these announcements today.

Wonder.land back by popular demand To be performed in the new NT shed. An actual garden shed - as that is the only space they can fill with that show?

I would've thought they'd try and schedule The Plough and the Stars for Easter to fit in with the 100th Anniversary of the Easter Rising, as they're doing at the Abbey Theatre in Dublin (which I'm seeing, and will no doubt end up being ashamed of British history once again).

This year's big family show will be announced today. Will it be more of an "off-the-shelf" affair, I wonder? Or maybe Kanye West, Anthony Neilson and Ned Bennett will collaborate on an original musical response to Pigling Bland in the Olivier for four months?

You joke, but that sounds BRILLIANT. I'd prefer Little Pig Robinson though.

The questions that get asked by journos at these things are sometimes more interesting than the announcements - wonder whether sales, SUnday opening, etc will come back up again??

Dominic Cavendish (Daily Telegraph) has mischievously tweeted a suggestion that the NT could take over marketing for English National Opera productions, so there could be some off-the-wall questions thrown at Rufus.

Well, National Theatre, all is forgiven after the less-than-exciting past few months. Twelfth Night, Young Chekhov, Angels in America, Peter Pan, Hedda Gabler... I know where my money will be going in the next year or so!
