Hi there! I would love to be able to thank Sir Cameron Mackintosh. His work has given me immense enjoyment over many years and he is responsible for introducing me to many years of Musical Theatre enjoyment. There is a really interesting interview with Sonia Friedman in the Sunday Times Culture magazine today, which I really really enjoyed. I do enjoy her productions. I just wondered what everyone's thoughts were re Sonia's current theatre influence compared to Sir Mackintosh..

While I don't think Sonia Friedman is a showman compared to the likes of Cameron Mackintosh, David Merrick etc you can't deny she is a very good producer, she does play it safe at times with some shows like Funny Girl or Harry Potter but she has backed things which on paper aren't an easy sell like Jerusalem or The Nether knowing it was necessarily going to be a commercial success.

She really is NOT scary
Very sharp lady dynamic
And interested in variety of theatre
And diversity in theatre
Tends to pick shows up early has her finger on the pulse
As outlined above by examples including The Nether
I get the impression CM more interested in running a profit and tends to support and produce more frigid theatre
CM does not seem to produce plays very often

In today's Metro she is reported that she would cast Ed Balls in a show "in a heartbeat".
Suggestions on a postcard.
