Travelling to a show? Hotel recommendations.

Wembley Park to London Bridge is my daily commute. West End evening show kicks out around 10.10 - 10.20 I can be at Wembley Park in 25 minutes. Like EmiCardiff the Willesden/Wembley is "my manor", know it well. I dislike the Bakerloo line as it spins through Harlesden, Willesden Junction and Stonebridge and being a local gal it's not a great area.

I book central hotels for colleagues quite often - have a business account with Travelodge and Go Native. With the tube strike today, and as I was in Piccadilly last night for The Comedy About A Bank Robbery and birthday drinks with a friend, I could have had the Travelodge Southwark for £46.50. But I treated myself to a £69 Bermondsey Square hotel, fell out of bed at 8.10am and walked into the office at 8.50am. Sunday rates. Thistle Barbican aren't too bad. Go Native in Bermondsey Street or Tower Bridge are fair too.

Thanks for highlighting this! I had a free weekend week after next so making an impromptu theatre trip to see Throughly Modern Millie in Wimbledon, got the Ibis styles at Kensington for £40 on a Saturday just a few stops on the underground so can't complain!

Thanks for the Travelodge Wembley High Road tip - booked at lunchtime yesterday for last night for £44. Transport back from central last night and in to my office this morning infinitely preferable to schlepping all the way to Warwickshire and back!

I find the issue with Travelodge Covent Garden is they won't mind your bags if you arrive early, or after you check out. They also charge for wifi, which is patchy in areas further away from the bar.

I nearly always stay at an LSE Vacations property, although you are limited to student vacation times.
Passfield Hall on Tavistock Square is around 45 quid a night including breakfast & wifi - only a small room with shared bathroom but good for the price. And easy walk to Covent Garden or bus stops at the end of the square. Euston Station is just around the corner.
Grosvenor House in Drury Lane is a bit posher for around 80 quid a night for a single studio with ensuite and kitchenette, but no breakfast. It's about 2 minutes walk from Covent Garden tube.

I have just stayed there (again) and they do offer luggage storage now. It's free, though the notice (which was put up in the elevator) said they'd appreciate donations to some charity.  While I usually don't need luggage storage, it was something that annoyed me a great deal, too, so I'm glad they are finally offering that. Not sure about the other Travelodges, maybe someone else has information.

I treat the wifi charge of 3 pounds per 24 hours as I'd treat low cost airline surcharges: Most hotels simply include the fee for wifi in the room price, whereas Travelodge gives you the option to "opt out" if you don't need wifi or simply add it, like you may add a checked bag for your low cost flight.

Oo thanks for the update on luggage storage. I really resent paying the fees charged in railway stations. but Premier Inn (who offer luggage storage) seem to be getting more and more expensive. I'm trying Wembley High Road and Finchley Travelodges over the next few months, so we'll see! I have always tended to stay in Croydon but am more nervous these days of being reliant on mainline trains..

I'm trying to plan a five night trip to London from lpool for next year - hopefully in February. Does anyone have any hotel recommendations that are obviously close to the West End, within walking distance, and not too far from Euston station? Everywhere seems so expensive, but the cheapest I've found so far is just under 300 for five nights.

That's cheap for London if you want to be central and don't want a hostel or B&B. In fact, for 5 nights anywhere that isn't that expensive!

We always stay in the Hub by Premier Inn hotels. Can highly recommend the one in Covent Garden especially if you want to be close to everything. The Westminster Abbey one is also very good if you don't mind walking. We always book the "bigger" room though especially if we're staying for more than one night.
