I have done this thread before, think on the old forum and BWW (when I used to be active on there). it has always been quite FUN and very very lighthearted.
So what it is about is, you just predict what you think might happen theatre wise in 2017.
Come this time next year I will bump this thread, so we can have a giggle, (now let me tell you one poster has a habit of making the worst predictions and that poster goes by the name of; Phantom of London), but as I say it is only very lighthearted fun.

So being a good sport, I thought I should go first.
Hamilton is the big hit everyone predicts, but no where as big as Brodway.
Mamma Mia to finally has its Waterloo.
Kinky Boots literally hangs up its Boots
Beautiful finds no one loves her tomorrow and closes.
Finding Neverland doesn't happen.
But American in Paris regrets it ever,did happen.
Next years Palladium Pantomine, not a big hit and a flop.
A bit of American Bake Off as Waitress comes over.
Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comets of 1812 also looking at Wst End real estate.
Come From Away makes West End Plans
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a big fat flop on Broadway, but Groundhog Day is a hit.
Follies transfers to the West End, whilst Angels in America transfers too, but to Broadway.
Unfortunately Thriller and Motown limp through another year.

I fear you may lose your 'worst predictor' crown Phantom....here goes: Julie Walters and Keeley Hawes to be made Dames (the pantomime variety doesn't count, but would be acceptable in the absence of an invitation to the palace!) Someone will attain the rights to put on a stonking production of West Side Story; The government will grant sufficient dosh to all theatres to build enough ladies toilets to their existing pittance of potties so us girls can spend our intervals with our mates instead of with all the other *ahem* bladderly-challenged females in the building.  |

RSC Romans season transfers to the Barbican and sinks without trace. David Lan announces departure from Young Vic. Rupert Goold announces succession plan at Almeida with Robert Icke taking over in 2018. David Hare has major new play at NT "The Tories:They're Just Terrible Aren't They" which gets four stars from Michael Billington who later retires - Lyn Gardner does not get his job.

Follies will transfer but maybe take a time to allow Imelda to do Gypsy on Broadway if she wants to do thay first
Cynthia Erivo returns to do a show in London
Waitress transfers

I also think lots of shows will close or announce closure in 2017 and lots of transfers will be announced too. And there will also be some new productions. EDIT: Ooh, I nearly forgot to predict that some shows will continue to run through 2017 and beyond. |

RSC Romans season transfers to the Barbican and sinks without trace. I predict that the RSC Romans Barbican season will open with Coriolanus which, with its exciting lead casting, will draw an audience which will then spill on to see some of the other three plays. |

Rupert Goold announces succession plan at Almeida with Robert Icke taking over in 2018. No, the artistic leadership of all the London theatres seems settled for a while. At least until someone gets poached by the NT and sets off a chain reaction of theatre AD musical chairs. |

Hamilton will sell out its entire run in 3.5 seconds but get mixed reviews: the cast will ham it up.
Imelda Staunton will commute between concurrent productions of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, Follies and Gypsy. Sondheim will write the score for Who's Afraid.
The 2 productions of Oscar Wilde's Salome (RSC and National) will hire the same actors and director and stage it in a butchers shop.

I don't think Hamilton will be a flop at first but it will not last long in the west end. The first few weeks to months will be sold out but it will then people will not really go to it and it will shut as so much money has been put into it but it will not make it back.
Imelda Staunton will become a dame and have rave reviews in Follies and Virginia Woolf.
Not many long running west end shows will close but a few like mama Mia or Thriller will.
The main Chichester musical will come to the west end
Hamlet at the almieda will sell out and transfer to the west end
We will get a few broadway imports but non of the bigger shows. Probably waitress or the humans
Hopefully jake gyllenhaal in Sunday In the park with George will transfer to the west end

Dirty Dancing will return to the West End for the tenth time as a filler.
The Mousetrap will run into its 546th year with Jessie Wallace.
Bonnie Langford will make a sensational return to the boards as Tina Turner in the jukebox musical of her career.
The Menier will stage a small-scale production of Fiddler on the Roof.
My mother told me millions of times to stop exaggerating.

There is to be a Fiddler on the Roof in Liverpool so maybe a transfer Tom89. And the Menier perfect venue. They could theme the restaurant - blintzes and borscht.

Stomp will close. Beautiful will close too (sadly).
Southwark Playhouse or Charring Cross will do Bonnie & Clyde.
Carrie Hope Fletcher will be back in the West End.
One of the West End green girls will be in a lead role somewhere.
Rachel John gets a leading role.

Sucked Mathers gets another role in London and starts becoming in demand for roles.
Marisha Wallace becomes slightly famous in London after Dreamgirls.
Beautiful closes and hopefully Thriller and Stomp too.
Hamilton sells out for the first few months but isn't as hot a ticket as on Broadway, tickets are available during the run and doesn't last as long as people thought.
The Girls surprises everyone.
Imelda Staunton gets rave reviews and Follies transfers to London.
Waitress goes to the Novello.
Finding Neverland never happens meaning the Piccadilly becomes home to either Big, Sleepless or Strictly Ballroom
