Any word yet on Nine Night? Can't find a thread for it. Think you will have to start a thread. I'm seeing it the week after next but am not that far ahead yet!

Lehman Trilogy apparently sold out for this booking period, though we all know that returns pop up online when members realise they've clashed with the Village Fete or whatever. ONE ticket - just one - at £15 now showing for the 1pm performance of 'The Lehman Trilogy' on July 14th. How do I know this? I returned it. (I'm still going, the person I was going with is not.)

Unsure whether to risk a £15 ticket on this. Trouble is i dont rate Ifans. Wish i had seen the production in Bath recently with Alun Armstrong

Adrian Scarborough and Indira Varma? Why on earth *wouldn't* I? Dull play in the Olivier with an inept director ?

In your opinion (well, except for the Olivier part, I guess that's objective fact). I've not seen it yet and don't really have much beef with Marber at the moment, so may end up with a completely different opinion. Indeed, if our exchanges here are anything to go by, I almost *certainly* will have a different opinion!

So, anyone rushing to book seats for "Exit The King" ? Thought not. I've booked to see this as I've never (in 44 years of theatre-going) seen a Ionesco. Did I rush? Darling that's soooo inelegant!

I've paid a fortune to see Hadestown on a Friday night. Am I going to regret it??

So, anyone rushing to book seats for "Exit The King" ? Thought not. I feel like I should be interested, because I studied this for French A level in the last century. Considering they were closed book exams, so I must have memorised quotes, you'd think I would remember more than it being about an apparently dying king..

I got tickets for Pericles (alongside Hadestown and Home, I'm Darling) and at the time I was booking - about 9.30 am this morning - there were only a few seats left for the last performance - the only one I looked at. I wonder if a large number of tickets are being reserved for the community organisations taking part in the production.

Oh yeah, it is a sure way to shift a lot of tickets, cast a bunch of community folk in it. But I’m not paying to see an amateur production of Pericles.

dr Jan Brock , with the mess the professionals have made of the Oliver recently, this could be the future. When we review our year in Theatre you’ll kick yourself you weren’t there for the Olivier production of the year. I’m sure you’re not surprised I have booked, the last Pericles I saw was in French, at least this one will be in English.

The RSC promenade production a decade ago was good.

The best Pericles I've seen was at Stratford East in 1983 - Gerard Murphy and Darlene Johnson, both now departed. Jesu the days that we have seen.

The Wanamaker prod was v good. It has imo the most moving scene in all of Shakespeare, beating the end of King Lear, in the scene between Pericles and his daughter. Very underestimated play and directors tend to mess about with it. I will wait before I book this one as I’m not so keen on the community aspect. But perhaps you're right, we need a takeover of the people for the people etc at the NT.

lynette, also one of my favourites, the brothel scene when done well is one of the funniest of Shakespeare’s scenes, and the final reconciliation is a lot more satisfying than The Winter’s Tale. As this production is only £15 the opportunity to see Pericles again more than outweighs the community aspect.

Yes I agree about the play, certain scenes are the match of anything in Shakespeare - certain others aren’t of course. It gets done quite often though, I’ve seen 8.

Did I dream that they were doing Anthony and Cleopatra with Sophie Okonedo? And that it’s now missing from the line up?

They pushed it back to 2019.
