Wasn't there talk about Pippin? My bud says they are putting on (a) Pippin in Manchester this year......would they have two major productions on a once? Also in ur first season would u put on a Broadway transfer??? I just remember EP mentioned it on her programme a good few months ago and it stuck in my mind as I am a big Pippin fan. It's probably all changed since then.

I heard the same announcement on EP. Let's face it you listen to that show for the music.
So I would say Pippin, even though Chichester are preparing for the 2017 announcement, I would have thought they are already planning 2018 shows.

It just don't make sense no matter what EP says.... Mr Evans's first season and he's putting on a transfer? And said transfer uses the circus as a setting as did Barnum which was on just 4 years ago? Which didn't go down very well

It's at Hope Mill, an emerging theatre, and quite different from a Broadway show.
A new artistic director might very well programme a major transfer at one end of their first season. For example, Rupert Goold began his first Almeida year with a remount of Headlong's 1984 and ended it with a remount of his RSC The Merchant of Venice, also including a remount of the Barrow Street Theatre production of Our Town in the middle!

It won't be big, but it won't be thrown together either.

Odd, as they told me 11 February, so either there has been some "slippage" since, or they gave me duff gen. However, as my membership has already expired, I still need to know what's on this year in order to judge whether to renew.
So far I've found no advantage to membership other than slightly earlier notice of, and booking for, productions. If you go alone and already buy the cheapest tickets, including any concessions which apply, membership appears to add nothing and given the cost, would more than cover 2 tickets to the main house.
However, if anyone here is aware of other benefits I've not mentioned and which might tip the balance, please point them out.

Never been tempted by membership. So long as you dont leave it too late shows are never sold out. Like most of these it really depends on your connection to the theatre in question and whether you just want to support yhem, as i do with RSC.

True about there being no problem getting tix once public booking opens. I wouldn't mind supporting CFT as I do go there quite a lot and enjoy doing so; however, to get me to fork out the extra cost, it'd have to be of mutual benefit, whereas at present it would seem to be one-way only. Last year I thought I'd qualify for the members' multi-show discount as I booked for 5 productions, but of course there's always a catch: turned out that this didn't apply to the lowest-priced tickets, which I had naturally chosen.

Depending on how much I like in the season, I usually find it pays on the basis of the 5 show discount even if I'm going alone to all shows, but I sometimes book for friends too and then the benefit really kicks in.
And the no fee/quibble exchange or refund comes in handy sometimes as, travelling from afar and booking so far ahead, does sometimes mean my plans change.

There is a Tennessee Williams starring a very good American actress in the main house That could exactly fit the template of Daniel Evans's Wyndham's American Buffalo by David Mamet with John Goodman, Damian Lewis and Tom Sturridge. Which was juicy to anticipate but pedestrian in practice. Except that Tom Sturridge was electrifying!
