Layton's show must have some real hardcore fans. Everytime I've met him he's always been very nice and asks how I'm doing.

Thing is, Layton starts his tweet saying how he loves meeting “y’all” but then goes on to say how terrible it is.
Mixed messages Layton babe.
This is the ‘stray dog’ syndrome. You encourage the stray dog, it’s cute, it adores you, you love it, stroke it, play with it. Then as you walk home you realise the dog is sticking with you. You don’t want the stray dog anymore. It’s making too many demands. You want to go home for your tea and that bloody dog won’t go away.
Now you’re almost home and that f***ing annoying dog is still following you. You hate the dog. Get rid of it.
You jump a wall or get in a bus or something that the dog can’t do. Relief.
Now you’re missing the dog. Aw... he was cute though. Where’s the doggy?
These performers who seek attention at the Stage Door need to be consistent. Kudos to Layton for setting it down in writing but pull back on the “oooh love meeting you” crap. You can’t pick and choose between the crazies and the normals.

I shouldn’t have laughed at that. No I shouldn't have laughed as much the second time I read it. I'm a terrible human.

Most of the fans of these shows where there has been drama are far too young to be sold booze!

The Come From Away stage door after the matinee was so busy yesterday. Already there were the over familiar people starting with the "hello again"s. It's just been on a couple of weeks.

Speaking of Come From Away, do we know if Rachel Tucker comes out after matinees?

Oh god...I hate it when fans pretend to be "friends" with performers. I've met lots of people more than once over the years, but I always realise I'm just a pleb.

Pretending to be a proper friend is very different from saying hi to someone at a stage door and having a quick chat. Maybe have a mutual follow online etc.
I SD a lot and people will say hi and we'll remember each other. I have some mutual follows on Social Media and I follow a fair few who if I tweet them they reply back but they don't follow me back. This is useful to find out if someone might be on covering a role, what time show finishes etc. Just maybe seeing what people have got coming up if you see them on the timeline and wonder that.
I know people who are good friends with performers and they will meet up for a coffee or drink before or after show but this is prearranged not someone tagging onto a performer etc.

[quote author=" hannechalk" source="/post/263771/thread" Recently one fan followed an actor to his car when he nipped out between shows, that I'd never do.[/quote] And she did it again! Or tried to, but he got away, thankfully. I saw it all unfold and it was impressive the speed he moved at to get away, considering the amount of bags he was carrying. He walked into the garage to get his car, and suddenly she follows close behind. He paid for his parking first and disappeared through a door. Luckily it took quite a while for her to pay, and initially she walked the other way. Then she walked back and disappeared through the same door. Tried to ring him, he rang back later and said he managed to get away without her cornering him. I just don't get why you'd do that.

Oh no, that's crazy! That person needs help, QUICKLY.
But you just reminded me of something; I knew of someone who waited for an actor at the Nash until coming up to midnight (she was the only one there), and when he came out, she followed him down the South Bank a bit and eventually caught up to him. The actor was quite chill about the whole thing, though. Most people would probably run a mile.

Seriously, who are these people?? I'm surprised some of them haven't had a blast of pepper spray in their face to be honest.

I feel compelled to ask what is a ‘boomerang’ because I’m thinking it’s not the curvy thing thrown by Australians? Instagram feature, used for videos. Damn!, was hoping it was going to be the next one in the Tofu, Banana, Cucumber TV series......

Oh god...I hate it when fans pretend to be "friends" with performers. I've met lots of people more than once over the years, but I always realise I'm just a pleb. I find "acquaintance" a useful word under those circumstances. There are actors & singers who I've met a number of times, sometimes exchange tweets with, they might hug me upon meeting at the stage door, etc. but if anyone else waiting at the stage door asks me if I'm friends with such-and-such actor I've just been chatting with I immediately disclaim & say that I'm only acquainted with them.

...they might hug me upon meeting at the stage door, etc... Anyone who's anyone will hug everyone in theatre, darling. I know. That's exactly why I'm saying that I'm well aware that I'm only on acquaintance terms with actors even if they hug me. (I am not a huggy person myself & was extremely surprised the first time I was ever hugged by an actor, but I've now got used to it.)

I've only received hugs from one specific actress and that was on my second visit to the production, with a 3 month gap between visits.
